FULL-TIME

West Brom 3-1 Hull City

West Brom 3-1 Hull City
.

Job done for West Brom in ruthless fashion after the break. That really was the definition of a fame of two halves.

The Tigers were at it early on but lost all of their bite after the break and the manner of set-piece goals entering their net will be a concern for Mike Phelan. It seemed West Brom just wanted it more.

The Baggies have back-to-back wins for just the second time this season, they are in fine touch. Hull City are in anything but.

For now though, happy new year. May 2017 bring your team trophies and joy.

West Brom 3-1 Hull City

We will have three added minutes but this game is now being played at the pace of a testimonial.

SUBSTITUTION

West Brom 3-1 Hull City

Salomon Rondon runs off, James McClean is coming on as this game fizzles out.

West Brom 3-1 Hull City

Tom Huddlestone has a crack from range but the ball flicks off a Hull player and goes wide.

West Brom 3-1 Hull City

Hull have paid defensively here.

A look at the stats sees many of their midfielders on good numbers in terms of pas accuracy. Jake Livermore (95%), Tom Huddlestone (93%) and Robert Snodgrass (91%) have all been decent. But you cannot concede two goals from corner kicks like they have.

They have their own corner now, Michael Dawson's header is good but it's chested off the line by Matt Phillips.

Baggies' fine haul

West Brom 3-1 Hull City

West Brom
.

Tony Pulis is keen to strengthen in the January transfer window and he seems to be doing so from a position of relative strength already.

West Brom are heading to 29 points - their second-best haul after 20 Premier League games.

They are not near the heights of their 2012-13 season when Steve Clarke guided them to 33 at this stage - they were just three off the Champions League places.

West Brom 3-1 Hull City

Jake Livermore looks as angry as any player involved in such a capitulation should be. He has a dig from the angle of the 18-yard box and the effort briefly sees Ben Foster interested but it flashes wide.

GOAL - West Brom 3-1 Hull City

James Morrison

Turn out the lights.

Hull have folded like a newbie at the poker table.

Hal Robson-Kanu has the ball wide left, he cuts inside and crosses at Salomon Rondon who diverts the ball into the path of James Morrison...jackpot.

A low, left-footed finish from 10 yards or so. The Baggies are heading for back-to-back wins.

West Brom 2-1 Hull City

Ahmed Elmohamady has covered some ground today, he's like a winter frost on the hillside.

Here he comes, he lifts his head to deliver and Ryan Mason leaps.. BIG CHANCE... over. He was central, on the penalty spot, but the ball is off target and West Brom get away with one.

West Brom 2-1 Hull City

This is perhaps a bit harsh on Hull City who offered plenty before the break. They probe but Jake Livermore cannot slip a pass beyond Matt Phillips, who does his defensive duties well.

Away come the home side, James Morrison on the ball down the left but his cross is blocked.

Four centuries

West Brom 2-1 Hull City

It looks like it will be a happy 400th for West Brom.

West Brom will play their 400th Premier League game.
.

We've tried naming the team for their first fixture in the league back in 2002. They lost at Manchester United that day with wonderful names like Darren Moore and Danny Dichio in the starting XI.

West Brom 2-1 Hull City

Moments before that goal Tony Pulis introduced Hal Robson-Kanu in place of Nacer Chadli. Hull are getting Ryan Mason ready, Dieumerci Mbokani will come off.

West Brom have the bit between their teeth now, Matt Phillips attacks the heart of the away defence and shoots over.

GOAL - West Brom 2-1 Hull City

Gareth McAuley

The game has been turned around but we've needed a referee's watch to confirm it.

Another corner from the left and Gareth McAuley races at the hanging ball to power it at goal. His header is blocked by Sam Clucas on the line but Mark Clattenburg points at his watch, the ball was over the whitewash.

West Brom have done it, a terrific turnaround.

West Brom 1-1 Hull City

Hull had 11 shots at goal by half-time and guess what, that tally has not improved. Only one side at it in this second period. The tactical switch to three at the back has helped West Brom I think. They seem to have extra bodies in midfield, allowing them to pick passes with more ease.

Hull's 90s flashback

West Brom 1-1 Hull City

It has now been 22 games in all competitions without a clean sheet for Hull City. The last time they went 22 was in January 1991. A long time ago - not a record you want to equal.

Some of you are wondering why January 1991 sounds important? The Simpsons had a No 1 hit in the UK charts with 'Do the Bartman'.

West Brom 1-1 Hull City

Matt Phillips picks the ball up on the right, screaming confidence he attacks Sam Clucas who can only boot the ball out. Phillips collects the throw, Clucas there to be attacked again... corner.

Up comes the bigger frames, we know what happened last time. Chris Brunt will swing it in, Phillips at the back post this time... wide.

West Brom 1-1 Hull City

I make that six assists and four goals for Matt Phillips this season now. He is having quite the season.

GOAL - West Brom 1-1 Hull City

Chris Brunt

It's almost like Tony Pulis has given them a right talking to!

West Brom out of the traps like Usain Bolt in this second period but Hull will be fuming with the nature of this equaliser.

A Matt Phillips corner is deep to the back post and Chris Brunt is totally unmarked. He doesn't even have to jump and just stands, planted, to power the ball home with his head. Brunt races to celebrate and Pulis has a look on his face which screams 'that's more like it'.

West Brom 0-1 Hull City

Chris Brunt is advanced down the West Brom left and comes inside, he will cross right footed... that's a terrific ball but no one anticipates it and David Marshall collects.

Some early purpose from the home side. They went through the motions for long spells in that first half but look keen now and win a corner.

KICK-OFF

West Brom 0-1 Hull City

There are no changes as far as I can see, though I think West Brom have switched from 4-2-3-1 to 3-2-4-1. Chris Brunt appears further forward from left-back.
