FT: Norwich 1-2 Huddersfield

Well, that's it from me on a night when a toe-punt, toe-bungle or toe-poke gave Huddersfield victory at Norwich, and lifted them up to third in the Championship.

Not only that, it was a first Town win at Norwich since 1969. Read the developing match report here.

Tomorrow we've got a big EFL programme for you, so join us from 14:00 GMT for live text coverage of everything including Gianfranco Zola's first game as Birmingham manager.

Until then, goodnight!

Norwich were 3-2 up heading into injury-time at Newcastle on 28 September but went on to lose 4-3.

A win that day would have sent them top but they now languish in ninth, 13 points behind the Magpies.

FT: Norwich 1-2 Huddersfield

Martin Olsson

That's Norwich's seventh loss in their last nine Championship matches, and until late in the second half you could see why.

The performance was fairly flat, and they rarely troubled Danny Ward in the Huddersfield goal.

With chants against manager Alex Neil's decision to take off Nelson Oliveira things are not looking rosy at Carrow Road right now.

FT: Norwich 1-2 Huddersfield

Huddersfield salute their supporters with a 'Dortmund-like' wave.

The Terriers fans will be pretty happy with their choice to spend this Friday night around Christmas in Norfolk, rather than around the shops.

FT: Norwich 1-2 Huddersfield

Huddersfield Town midfielder Aaron Mooy on Sky Sports: "The gameplan was to frustrate them because they're a good footballing side. We did that well tonight."

FULL-TIME

Norwich 1-2 Huddersfield

Elias Kachunga
Rex Features

They had to hang on in the end, but Huddersfield move up to third with a victory thanks to two goals from Elias Kachunga.

For Norwich, they remain in ninth place in the Championship and Alex Neil is still under pressure from the fans.

Norwich 1-2 Huddersfield

Sebastien Bassong is genuinely playing as a centre forward right now, but his knockdown to a long ball forward is to nobody in a yellow shirt and rolls out for a goal kick.

Norwich 1-2 Huddersfield

Oh my! Sebastien Bassong again on the end of a corner, but his header from around six yards out is just wide. And I mean just.

Not sure who Patrick supports...

Norwich 1-2 Huddersfield

Jacob Murphy flings another ball into the Huddersfield box but Christopher Schindler clears for a corner.

Norwich 1-2 Huddersfield

A waste of a ball from Robbie Brady goes straight into the hands of Danny Ward.

Alex Neil looks on as his side are losing a match against promotion rivals at home.

Norwich 1-2 Huddersfield

Norwich defender Sebastien Bassong is seeing a lot of the ball in the opposition area, this time heading a corner tamely into the palms of Danny Ward.

Huddersfield are just beginning to show signs of nerves at the back, though.

Norwich 1-2 Huddersfield

Aaron Mooy goes into the referee's book for bringing down Steven Naismith in the Norwich half, using up more precious time.

Norwich 1-2 Huddersfield

Norwich fling another ball into the box, this time towards Steven Naismith, who flicks on to Sebastien Bassong, but the defender doesn't get a touch on the ball when it looks like he could get a clean shot away from six yards out.

Norwich 1-2 Huddersfield

A beautiful flowing move by Norwich, one of their first in the game, finds Jonny Howson on the right-hand side of the box and his low cross in looks to be falling to Jacob Murphy for a tap in, but Danny Ward gets his hand to it and Huddersfield clear.

It's just not happening for Norwich today. Even when they capitalise on a mistake from Jon Stankovic, Robbie Brady is completely crowded out by four Huddersfield players.

Martin Olsson then flings in a very overhit cross, much to the despair of the Norwich faithful.

SUBSTITUTION

Norwich 1-2 Huddersfield

Jonathan Hogg, a real workhorse in the Huddersfield midfield, has done his job today and is replaced by Philip Billing.

Hogg may have a slight hip injury, hence the change.

Norwich 1-2 Huddersfield

Jacob Murphy stings the palms of Huddersfield keeper Danny Ward with a curling strike from outside the area which the keeper was always going to keep out.

Norwich 1-2 Huddersfield

Cameron Jerome is throwing his weight around in the area, and nods down a left-wing cross to Steven Naismith, but the former Everton man can't quite reach the ball and the Terriers clear to safety.

Norwich 1-2 Huddersfield

Aaron Mooy's free-kick delivery into the box is superb, but Sebastien Bassong is able to get a head to the ball and clear the danger.

Huddersfield subsequently make their first change of the night, bringing off Nahki Wells in place of Harry Bunn.

Norwich 1-2 Huddersfield

Robbie Brady is the next Norwich player to see their shot from the edge of the area blocked by a flying Huddersfield body.

Then, one of the greatest crimes in football, if not all of humanity: a foul throw by Canaries defender Martin Olsson. That's something you should only see in Sunday league.

No wonder the Norwich fan below looks so glum...

Norwich 1-2 Huddersfield

Huddersfield could be out of sight here as they counter off a Norwich free-kick, but Nakhi Wells cannot hold his run and he is offside when the ball is played to him. If he'd been onside, he would have had the full length of the pitch free to run at John Ruddy.

Wells is so frustrated that his team-mate didn't pass in time, he kicks the ball away and earns a yellow card.

Norwich 1-2 Huddersfield

A nice ball through the channel is played through to Nahki Wells, but his shot from the left-hand side is wide of John Ruddy's goal.

It's all gone very, very quiet at Carrow Road.

You know, Dan, you're probably right. Toe poke rolls off the tongue better.

Norwich 1-2 Huddersfield

"Delia, sort it out" is another cry from the Norwich fans, aimed clearly at their joint-majority shareholder Delia Smith.

On the pitch, Jacob Murphy goes close to an equaliser with an effort which just goes wide from outside the box.

A few feint cries of 'You don't know what you're doing' at the substitution of Nelson Oliveira by Alex Neil... The fans are not happy campers right now.

Norwich 1-2 Huddersfield

Again, Tommy Smith and Elias Kachunga link up on the Huddersfield right, and the latter gets free, twists in the box and then goes down under a challenge but the ref is not interested and waves away the penalty protests.

Norwich 1-2 Huddersfield

Aaron Mooy has been pivotal for Huddersfield in the middle of the park, but when he gets the chance to volley at goal, he scuffs it with his left foot and it nearly spins behind him...

Norwich 1-2 Huddersfield

Nelson Oliveira
Rex Features

Nelson Oliveira should have just put Norwich level.

Huddersfield centre-back Jon Stankovic totally misjudges the flight of a long ball forward over his head, air kicks, and allows Oliveira a free run into the area with the bouncing ball.

But the Portuguese forward's attempted lob over Danny Ward is wide of the goal. He'll be gutted by that but Norwich are definitely coming back into this.

This is in reference to my calling Elias Kachunga's second goal a 'toe punt'.

The German produced a fine improvised finish to give his side the lead for the second time but should I have called it a toe bunger instead? Or even something else?

Tweet us on #bbcefl to let me know what I 'should' have said or any other thoughts you have about this exciting Championship contest.

Norwich 1-2 Huddersfield

Sebastien Bassong rises highest to meet the delivery but it hits a Huddersfield defender and squeezes wide of the mark, despite the desperate attempts by Nelson Oliveira to hoot it in.

Norwich 1-2 Huddersfield

What was I saying?

Graham Dorrans rolls the ball into Nelson Oliveira on the right of the box and his strike is turned behind by Danny Ward for a corner.

Norwich 1-2 Huddersfield

Norwich cannot seem to a clear sight of goal tonight, as Jacob Murphy drives through the Huddersfield midfield and lays the ball to Nelson Oliveira.

The forward, though, can't get the ball out of his feet and the ball is eventually played out to Martin Olsson, who overhits a cross.

Norwich 1-2 Huddersfield

Tommy Smith
Rex Features

Elias Kachunga could have had a hat-trick.

He wins the ball ahead of Martin Olsson, and lays the ball out to Tommy Smith. Olsson and Kachunga tangle leaving the Norwich defender on the floor and giving the Huddersfield man a free run into the area, but he can't turn Smith's low ball into the net.

Canaries fans are not happy with the ref letting play to continue there.

Norwich 1-2 Huddersfield

This is better from Norwich.

They hold possession in the opposition half for more than 30 seconds, spreading the ball from right to left, left to right, but Ivo Pinto's ball into the area is punched away by keeper Danny Ward.

Norwich 1-2 Huddersfield

Canaries boss Alex Neil does make a change at half-time, taking off Youssouff Mulumbu - on the road back from injury - for Alex Tettey.

Norwich get us back under way. They need Tettey to make a difference in the middle.

What's to come?

Zola
Rex Features

Well tomorrow we will have coverage of every single match in the EFL, including the late kick-off between Birmingham and Brighton, giving us a first chance to see Blues under Gianfranco Zola following the somewhat controversial exit of Gary Rowett.

HT: Norwich 1-2 Huddersfield

Huddersfield have had two thirds of the possession in this match, and it's not just been pedestrian ball retention. They are looking to break at Norwich at every opportunity, getting their full-backs involved, which has led to both of their goals.

Norwich need some control in the middle. Could Wes Hoolahan or Alex Tettey on the bench give that?
