Nappy New Year Harry Kane

Tottenham 4-0 West Brom

Right then, time for me to bid you farewell. You can follow the rest of Saturday's Premier League football action here and read Luke Reddy's developing report from White Hart Lane here. Cheerio.

'We were just not on it'

Tottenham 4-0 West Brom

West Brom manager Tony Pulis: "We just were not on it today. I don't want to take any credit away from Spurs but we were miles away from where we had to be. When that happens, you get punished."

'It looks bad for Vertonghen'

Tottenham 4-0 West Brom

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino on Tottenham defender Jan Vertonghen, who was forced off with an ankle injury: "It looks bad for Jan. We need to wait to assess him better on Sunday or Monday. He is very disappointed."

'A great performance, a fantastic performance'

Tottenham 4-0 West Brom

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino: "It was a great performance, a fantastic performance.

"I am very happy because the way we played was important for us after we beat Chelsea. We had to get the three points and fight, and now we are in a really good position."

Desmond Oguda: This Spurs side is relentless. Training ground stuff. Terrific all round. Chelsea watch out.

Kritt Normsaskul: I don't think I've seen a more dominant display from a side in the Premier League in quite a while. Those match stats...

Mark Lynch: It's almost like Harry Kane is quite good isn't it and that all the stick he took in the summer was ridiculously over the top..

'A fantastic week for Spurs'

Tottenham 4-0 West Brom

Danny Mills

Ex-England defender on Radio 5 live

All the damage was done in the first half when Tottenham could've had five.

Harry Kane was exceptional and could've had two hat-tricks but he was magnificent in front of goal.

It's been a great week for him and a fantastic week for Tottenham. They look very solid, there are no weakness anywhere.

The only disappointment is the injury to Jan Vertonghen, depending how that turns out.

FULL-TIME

While Tottenham go second, West Brom stay eighth, and will remain there whatever happens later on Saturday because they are four points ahead of ninth-placed Bournemouth.

'West Brom well-beaten'

Tottenham 4-0 West Brom

John Murray

5 live football correspondent

West Brom have been comprehensively beaten here - it's only their second straight defeat and first in the Premier League since Boxing Day - but they were outplayed from start to finish.

A seventh win in a row in all competitions for Tottenham and six straight in the Premier League.

Tottenham 4-0 West Brom

Tottenham are four points behind leaders Chelsea, who travel to defending champions Leicester later on Saturday.

Arsenal, who are away at Swansea, are the only other team in the top six to play today.

FULL-TIME

Tottenham 4-0 West Brom

Harry Kane's hat-trick helps Tottenham make it six Premier League wins in a row, and they also move second in the table. A good day all round in that part of north London.

'Alli a great example to youngsters'

Tottenham 4-0 West Brom

Danny Mills

Ex-England defender on Radio 5 live

Dele Alli is a great example to young players by staying that extra year at MK Dons.

I look at a lot of young players leaving lower-league clubs going to the Premier League and just not playing. A couple of years later they're back down in the Championship.

Sam Byram is a classic example at West Ham - he's barely played but perhaps another year at Leeds and then he'd be playing week-in week-out.

It's tempting to go to a Premier League side but if you're not going to play, back yourself, stay that extra year so when you make that move, you're a first-team regular.

INJURY TIME

Tottenham 4-0 West Brom

There will be two minutes of added time, then Harry Kane will get his hands on the match-ball.

I love that ball Dele Alli played for Harry Kane's third goal. It was perfect.

Just another indication of what Alli is capable of but also what that Alli-Kane combination is capable of.

'Spurs have no weaknesses'

Tottenham 4-0 West Brom

Danny Mills

Ex-England defender on Radio 5 live

West Brom just don't have the quality or fitness levels of Tottenham.

I don't see any weak points in this Tottenham side - perhaps until we learn the extent of Vertonghen's injury.

Every player knows their role, knows the system.

If they can keep everyone fit and in form then they are going to have a real chance this season.

'What a week for Harry Kane'

A marvellous little scoop over the top of the defenders from Dele Alli and Harry Kane holds off the defenders to give Ben Foster no chance.

What a week for Kane and what a hat-trick.

GOAL - Tottenham 4-0 West Brom

Harry Kane (82 mins - hat-trick)

Tottenham's fans are in full voice and their team are turning on the style.

Harry Kane exchanges passes with Dele Alli and running on to the latter's delightfully dinked return to fire past Ben Foster.

Foster has been outstanding today, but there is no saving that. Kane has his first hat-trick of the season.

McAuley's mistake

Tottenham 3-0 West Brom

Danny Mills

Ex-England defender on Radio 5 live

Great move down the right-hand side - Gareth McAuley had the chance to put the ball into the stand but he didn't and allowed Kyle Walker to get in behind him.

Walker then picks out Harry Kane unmarked and it's another goal for Tottenham.

It's not been the greatest 200th West Brom appearance for McAuley - an own goal and now a mistake for Spurs' third.

GOAL - Tottenham 3-0 West Brom

Harry Kane (77 mins)

Oh dear. I don't think Gareth McAuley will enjoy watching MOTD tonight. He dillies and dallies and lets Kyle Walker steal in and nab the ball off him near the Baggies' left-hand by-line.

Walker looks up and picks out Harry Kane in the middle, who steers it expertly into the net past Ben Foster... who had been out of position waiting for McAuley's back-pass.

A fine finish from Kane and that is the three points in the bag. Tottenham will be second tonight.

On the left we see Harry Kane's seven touches in the area - he's had nine shots today. On the left we see the four touches West Brom have managed in the Spurs box all day.

The Baggies have improved since half-time but Hugo Lloris has still not had a save to make and the visitors have only had two shots in total... Tottenham have had 19.

Own goal on a landmark day

Gareth McAuley is 37 now and this is his 200th appearance for West Brom. He's been a brilliant servant for the club but scored an own goal today.

YELLOW CARD

Tottenham 2-0 West Brom

West Brom's Gareth McAuley goes into the book for arguing that he was fouled by Kyle Walker. He had a case, but there are the dissent rules in action for you... you cannot just yell at a referee any more even if you think he missed something.

Play continues and Christian Eriksen tees up a Tottenham player for another shot. This time it is Victor Wanyama, who sees his low shot blocked by Ben Foster.

Tottenham 2-0 West Brom

Tottenham have not had the same fizz about them since the break but they are still dangerous when they get near the Baggies box.

Mousa Dembele tries his luck from 30 yards, but the ball is still rising as it flies over Ben Foster's bar.

'Vertonghen looks distraught'

Tottenham 2-0 West Brom

Danny Mills

Ex-England defender on Radio 5 live

Jan Vertonghen has gone over on his ankle, really quite badly. It's the change in surface as he comes off the pitch and on to the astro turf and he's rolled his ankle.

He looks to be in a lot of pain right now. They've applauded him off the pitch.

John Murray: He looks distraught.

Tottenham 2-0 West Brom

This game is far more of a contest now, but West Brom are yet to have a shot on target and their attempts to change that statistic are leaving some gaps at the back.

If Spurs get the next goal then it is game over. If the Baggies get it, then it is game on for them...

Pinball football

Tottenham 2-0 West Brom

That was like a game of pinball. Another good save from Ben Foster in there too.

West Brom started the first few minutes of the second half well but Spurs have sparked back into life now.

GREAT SAVE!

Tottenham 2-0 West Brom

The first half saw a string of saves from West Brom keeper Ben Foster and he is at it again here as Tottenham belatedly come back to life.

Foster sticks out a leg to keep out Toby Alderweireld' snap-shot from a corner and recovers to push away Jan Vertonghen's effort from outside the area too.

'Definitely not a penalty'

Tottenham 2-0 West Brom

Danny Mills

It's not a foul on Dele Alli - Craig Dawson just gets in front of him and does well.

Not a single Spurs player put their arm up for the penalty appeal.
