  1. Goodbye

Well, that brings a frantic day of EFL football to a close.

Stacks of goals, plenty of talking points and a highly enjoyable day all round.

The EFL is back on Tuesday with another huge fixture-list - 11 games in the Championship and a full programme in League One and Two.

I hope you can join us then. For now, enjoy your the rest of your weekend!

  2. 'We needed to protect him'

    FT: Wolves 0-1 Newcastle

Newcastle boss Rafael Benitez on taking off goalscorer Aleksandar Mitrovic at half-time:

"We knew that he had the yellow card. We needed to protect him just in case, we were in control with 11 players. We had to change and we did it.

"He was doing well, but with everyone pushing and pressing we knew there was a risk and we decided to do it [substitute him] at half-time."

  3. Match report

    FT: Wolves 0-1 Newcastle

If you missed any of the action from Molineux, you can read Josh Hunt's match report here.

Nico Lennon: Big win, pretty nervy towards the end but towering performances from Lascelles & Clark get us over the line. Back on top

Newcastle celebrate Aleksandar Mitrovic's goal against Wolves
  5. 'We're all friends'

    FT: Wolves 0-1 Newcastle

Newcastle skipper Jamaal Lascelles adds to Sky Sports:

"I'm very confident in my squad, we've got a really tight group, we're all friends and do stuff off the pitch.

"It's really important because when it comes to tough games like this it shows. We're ready for any game."

  6. 'They put a lot of pressure on us'

    FT: Wolves 0-1 Newcastle

Newcastle defender Ciaran Clark tells Sky Sports:

"They put a lot of pressure on us at the end and throughout the game.

"It was a scrappy one, but we got the goal and did really well to hold onto it. Hopefully we can just keep on picking up points and carry on doing what we're doing."

  7. 'Everyone in the team played a role'

    FT: Wolves 0-1 Newcastle

Newcastle captain Jamaal Lascelles tells Sky Sports:

"This is always a tough place to come - we got a good goal and after that we had to defend and we did an excellent job.

"Everyone in the team played a role and I'm really pleased."

    Wolves 0-1 Newcastle

And that is that - Newcastle return to the top of the Championship. Nouha Dicko has one last chance in the Newcastle box but can't get his shot away. It's the story of his season.

Aleksandar Mitrovic scored the only goal of the game just before half-time, but he was a lucky boy to still be on the pitch after catching Carl Ikeme on the ankle having already been booked.

The Serbia striker was taken off at half-time.

Wolves are still in a relegation dogfight it seems.

  9. Post update

    Wolves 0-1 Newcastle

Everything is just being slightly overhit or underhit by Wolves.

Again a long ball goes over Helder Costa and into the grateful clutches of Newcastle keeper Karl Darlow.

There are a matter of seconds left.

  10. Post update

    Wolves 0-1 Newcastle

Helder Costa has a couple of chances to get the ball into a good area but can't find a Wolves man.

    The clock is ticking...

  11. Post update

    Wolves 0-1 Newcastle

Should that have been a penalty for Wolves?

Jamaal Lascelles reaches over the shoulder of Nouha Dicko in the box and the ball seems to touch his hand.

Nothing given from Craig Pawson. Wolves are throwing everything forward now - there will be four minutes of added time.

    Wolves 0-1 Newcastle

I said wealth of riches earlier - Ayoze Perez is Newcastle's third and final substitution, replacing Mo Diame.

Meanwhile Jack Colback goes into the book for dissent and then Perez gets a yellow card for speaking out of term.

I don't think he's touched the ball yet.

  13. Post update

    Wolves 0-1 Newcastle

Suddenly Wolves get an opportunity as a cross is just inches away from Nouha Dicko's toes.

It simply won't go in for the striker this season.

Helder Costa then jinks his way into the box and curls an effort straight at Karl Darlow. That ladies and gents is their first shot on target in the 87th minute.

  14. Post update

    Wolves 0-1 Newcastle

Newcastle are just going to close this game out now.

Nothing silly. Saying that, Mo Diame gallops down the left and to the edge of the area but his weak shot is easily collected by Carl Ikeme.

    Wolves 0-1 Newcastle

Newcastle's wealth of riches is in evidence once again as Matt Ritchie is replaced by Republic of Ireland international Daryl Murphy.

As things stand they are heading back to the top of the Championship.

  16. Post update

    Wolves 0-1 Newcastle

Wolves are piling on the pressure, but they still haven't had a shot on target.

Jon Dadi Bodvarsson sprints into the box, turns inside but the final ball is lacking and it goes out for a corner.

Again - nothing comes of the set piece and it's a goal kick.

Ten minutes left for the hosts to find a little bit of inspiration from somewhere.

  17. 'The big problem is we don't score enough'

    Reaction: Aston Villa 0-1 Ipswich

Josh Emmanuel (left), Jonathan Kodjia (centre) and Luke Chambers (right)

Steve Bruce told BBC WM he was extremely frustrated with his side losing their unbeaten home record after losing to Ipswich:

"We've lost our home record, which we were clinging on to, but overall I'm disappointed and frustrated our performance wasn't as good as I would have liked.

"We gave away possession of the ball too easily and the big Achilles heel is we've had four or five chances to score but we haven't done enough to put it in the back of the net.

"We've got to improve and create more opportunities, the big problem is we don't score enough. We didn't deserve to lose and again an individual error has cost us."

    Wolves 0-1 Newcastle

Wolves' new signing Ben Marshall comes on for Andreas Weimann.

He's wearing 64, replacing number 63 Weimann. A pet hate of mine is silly shirt numbers - they both fall into the remit of a silly shirt numbers.

  19. Post update

    Wolves 0-1 Newcastle

Helder Costa plays the free-kick along the floor to Lee Evans who balloons his shot over the bar.

Not good. Almost comical from Evans. Sorry.

  20. Post update

    Wolves 0-1 Newcastle

Helder Costa wins a free-kick in a very dangerous area on the left-hand side of the box for Wolves after Paul Dummett tugs him back....
