Birmingham manager Gianfranco Zola told Sky Sports:  "I thought it [Paul Robinson's red card] was a little bit harsh, but I will have a look and if we need to take action we will do.

"The win is strong evidence that this team is alive. They want to fight, but we need to continue. We want to win more games like this.

"I am very happy for myself, the staff and the players because they are working very hard. We got what we deserved."

It is hard to sum up tonight's action at the Pirelli Stadium any better than Blackburn Rovers have done, so here it is in one sentence...

Birmingham goalscorer David Davis tells Sky Sports:

"This week we pulled together. We thought, let's just go back to basics.

"I'm making a habit of scoring in the derbies and I'm loving every minute of them.

"We're been behind him (Zola) from day one. Today showed we really are behind him."

The first half was pretty lifeless but brought two goals. The second half was much more derby-like and could have ended with five or six.

Wolves will feel they should have taken at least a point after a frantic final 30 minutes following Birmingham defender Paul Robinson's silly red card.

Robinson will be one very relieved man.

All over. You can see what that means to Birmingham boss Gianfranco Zola. He's hugging everyone in sight. 

Nervy moments for Blues fans but Cheick Keita's tackle on Andreas Weimann in the box was perfectly timed. No penalty. We are over the allotted injury time.

If Birmingham do hold on they will hold a debt of gratitude to Krystian Bielik.

The Pole has been outstanding in defence since coming on following Paul Robinson's red card.

YELLOW CARD

Blues goalkeeper Tomasz Kuszczak went into the book for time-wasting a few moments ago. That's one of the reasons why we have five minutes of additional time to play.

Birmingham substitute Krystian Bielik makes two more outstanding defensive interventions but the pressure is building as we go into five minutes of additional time.

Goalmouth pinball in the Birmingham box as some last-ditch defending from Ryan Shotton and a brilliantly timed challenge by Krystian Bielik keeps Wolves at bay.

Matt Doherty sends a header just wide from another Wolves set-piece. Birmingham are giving away lots of set-pieces.

Can the hosts make one count as we enter the final five minutes?

Nouha Dicko enjoyed that goal. He had every right to. He's had terrible luck with injuries in recent times and that's his first league goal since the final game of the 2014-15 season.

The Wolves substitute has been a real threat since coming on at the break.

It's been pretty fiery at times and there's been plenty of squabbling in the box while we have been awaiting various free-kicks and corners.

Calm heads are needed otherwise we could see more red cards.

Stewart's indiscipline almost leads to a goal but Helder Costa's free-kick takes a deflection and goes just wide of the far post.

SUBSTITUTION

Birmingham bring on Greg Stewart for Emilio Nsue. 

And within a minute he gets a yellow card.
