  4. It's all over - or is it?

Efe Ambrose's switch from Celtic to Blackburn on loan is on the Scottish FA's list of approved moves but it has not been announced by either club. We'll need to wait for that but I'm not staying up any longer.

Scottish forward Ross McCormack has moved on once again, swapping Aston Villa for Nottingham Forest on loan.

On that bombshell, I'll bid you good night.

  6. The window is closed

We're past the midnight hour and it's all been a bit of a damp squib.

There could be a few deals in the pipeline like the Efe Ambrose to Blackburn loan move. There's a bit of leeway for jammed fax machines and such like.

  7. Ciftci not going anywhere

It's been a night of 'might have beens' and Motherwell's query about a possible loan deal for out-of-favour Celtic forward Nadir Ciftci is another one to come to nothing.

But it's not all bad news for Motherwell fans since it means Scott McDonald, on target in tonight's win at Ross County, will be staying.

  8. Another late Celtic exit?

Hang on. We're now hearing that Efe Ambrose's move to Blackburn is back on.

No confirmation from Celtic or Ewood Park though...

  9. Celtic keeper on the move

Celtic are sending goalkeeper Leo Fasan on loan to Port Vale.

The 23-year-old Italian has been with the Scottish champions since 2010 but has never featured for the first team.

Port Vale sold keeper Jak Alnwick to Rangers yesterday.

  11. Tick, tock

I fear we'll need to knock up a tumbleweed graphic...

All of the early promise has fizzled out, or is there a late surprise out there?

  12. Ambrose deal hits the rocks

    Chris McLaughlin

    BBC Sport Scotland

Efe Ambrose's proposed move to Blackburn appears to be off, with the English Championship club pulling the plug. It just shows how quickly things can change on these nights.

  13. McGowan available after Chinese release

Former Hearts and Dundee United defender Ryan McGowan has terminated his contract with Chinese club Henan Jianye.

"I'm a free agent so I'm nice and relaxed," the 27-year-old tells BBC Sportsound.

"I can sit back and hopefully answer a few phone calls.

"With the new ruling on foreign players [in China}, it was the best arrangement for me."

  14. Buddies bring in defender Davis

St Mirren fans can pop off to bed now that they have completed the loan signing of 25-year-old central defender Harry Davis from Crewe Alexandra.

  15. 60 minutes to go

One hour until the winter window closes... Come on Scottish clubs, what have you got? Someone needs to liven this evening up.

  16. A teaser from St Mirren

The promise of some late news for Buddies fans...

The Championship strugglers have signed left-back Adam Eckersley already today.

  17. No go for Stokes return to Hibs

    Chris McLaughlin

    BBC Sport Scotland

Disappointing news for Hibs fans... A deal to get Anthony Stokes back on loan for a third spell at Easter Road will not get over the line. The striker is staying at Blackburn Rovers.
