  5. 'Palace wanted it more than us'

    Crystal Palace 3-0 Arsenal

Arsenal skipper-for-the-night Theo Walcott, speaking to Sky Sports:  "We thought we had bounced back from that bad patch with the draw against Manchester City and win against West Ham. It doesn't look like it after this.

"That wasn't us tonight. We are all disappointed in the changing room, like the fans are - we let them down.

"We don't go out there to lose games, we work the best we can. Tonight it didn't happen. We can only apologise.

"They wanted it more. You could sense that from the kick-off."

  6. 'It shows we can beat the big teams'

    Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace forward Wilfried Zaha, speaking to Sky Sports: "We’re buzzing. It’s a great win. It's a massive confidence boost. It shows that if you have a plan you can beat the big teams. You have to run the whole game and when you get your chance, take it.

"When the second goal went in we felt we could go on and win this comfortably. The win is massive."

James:  Wenger has the lost the fans and now the players, it's clear they don't want him there do the decent king and resign it was embarrassing tonight.

Photogenic: Players need to take massive amount of blame, no backbone. But they are Wenger's team so he is responsible.

Ryan: Say what you want about Wenger, but he has a great head of hair for a man of his age and under his pressure.

  8. 'It's a damaging result'

    Crystal Palace 3-0 Arsenal

Arsene Wenger, speaking to Sky Sports: "They were sharper than us in many decisive situations. It's not the right moment to analyse. We had a lot of the ball, a lot of possession. We won many second balls as well but in the decisive duels they were stronger, yes.

"It's damaging, of course. On that front that is the most difficult for us. It has consequences on our chances to be in the top four.

"You understand that our fans are very unhappy. They came here with the hope they'd win the game.

"Every defeat is a big worry. I've managed over 1,100 games for Arsenal and we're not used to losing like that. It's a big worry. Unfortunately it is like that and we have to respond very quickly and not accept it.

"I'm disappointed and determined to put things right. Tonight the worry is not me, it's the fact we lost a big game and that's a big worry."

  9. 'I face these questions in every press conference'

    Crystal Palace 3-0 Arsenal

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, speaking to BBC Sport: "We lost too many duels and we paid for that. There is no obvious reason why. We prepared and everyone prepared well. It's difficult to explain just after the game.

"I don't think my players didn't want it, but we lost duels in decisive moments and that's how games are decided at this level.

"I understand our fans are disappointed and we all are deeply tonight. It's very worrying and disappointing the way we lost the game. Palace were sharp, they beat Chelsea the other day, and that shows they have quality.

"We are in a difficult position. The game tonight doesn't help."

On questions about his future : "I face it in every press conference at the moment but tonight I'm not in the mood to speak about it. At the moment I pay more respect to the fact we had a disappointing result. What counts is how we perform on the pitch, the players and myself and I feel evryone is focused in the club to do it."

Asked if uncertainty about his future is affecting the players: "No, I don't think so."

Adnaan:  Alternatives? Simeone, Allegri, Koeman. Pay the right amount and give the new manager funds and then there are plenty of options.

James in London:  It's one thing losing 4 away games in a row, but Arsenal conceded 3 goals in all four of them ,

Martin:  Almost sad - watching the fall of a dynasty.

Christopher David:  Well at least we won't have to worry about getting knocked out in the second round of Champions League next season.

Ash Williams: If Wenger is thinking of staying the players should be fighting for him but they're not. They seem ready for a change.

Kunal Bhandari: Anyone who still supports Wenger is a Wenger fan, not an Arsenal fan. Going backwards.

  12. Post update

    Crystal Palace 3-0 Arsenal

Arsene Wenger is of course again asked about his future in his post-match interview - and of course he's still not saying anything. He starts off feisty and frustrated but ends up striking a more conciliatory tone. He's clearly saddened by this result. Full quotes to come.

  13. 'It's not a shock for me'

    Crystal Palace 3-0 Arsenal

    Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace manager Sam Allardyce, speaking to Sky Sports:  "Tactically the players were aware of how to beat Arsenal. The first thing was to defend and frustrate them, keep them playing sideways, then use the space behind the full-backs. Arsenal have been weak defensively, they leave the centre-backs exposed.

"We won a lot of possession off them and created lots of chances. Cabaye's goal, what a finish - and that was down to us pressing them. It wasn't a shock for me because we played Chelsea and won that game. The result might be a shock, but we did that again and did it better. We all know Arsenal are going through their worst spell for years, but the only way to take advantage is by playing well. Everything worked perfectly for us today."

  15. 'An incredible victory'

    Crystal Palace 3-0 Arsenal

    Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace winger Andros Townsend:  "It was an incredible victory. We're full of confidence and we were confident we could do it tonight after the win at Chelsea.

"We had to work extremely hard. We knew the pressure was off and we could hit them on the counter attack.

"The plan was about getting the ball to Christian Benteke and then getting the bits off him. We implemented that to a tee.

"We need to get our heads back in the game and focus on Saturday now. We need to get another three points against Leicester to help us towards survival. We didn't do that after we beat Chelsea, which cancelled out that result.

"Sam Allardyce has been incredible. I was on the wrong end of the Sam Allardyce factor when I was at Newcastle last season but he looks to have worked his magic and hopefully we can get enough points to surive."

Sri Gutta: Sack Wenger? Name the alternative who can give success without zillions.

James: 28% possession and they had 6 more shots than Arsenal. What an embarrassment. That's Arsene's tactics all over, useless Manager

no-one: On the plus side, 2 games on the trot with no yellow card for Xhaka.

Barry: Uninspired, insipid, football has evolved, beginning to realise Wenger hasn't. And that's from a staunch Wenger supporter.

George:  Witnessing the downside of letting a manager become too ingrained in the club. The cycle is ending. Arsenal, get off the bike.

Chris in Herts:  Wenger's position is surely untenable now?

  19. Post update

    Crystal Palace 3-0 Arsenal

For Crystal Palace, add this to that brilliant win at Stamford Bridge for a sense of how Sam Allardyce is doing.

That's a cushion of six points they've got on the drop zone now, with six matches of the season to play. Surely they are safe.

  20. Post update

    Crystal Palace 3-0 Arsenal

This really escalated so quickly after half-time. Arsenal just didn't show up after the break. Zero shots on target.

They trail Tottenham by 14 points. They trail fourth-placed Manchester City by seven. And Everton are fast coming up behind.
