  1. That's all folks...

    Hajduk Split 1-1 Everton (1-3)

A cracking night for Everton and their new record signing. Gylfi stole the show with his 50-yarder to open his account and confirm the Toffees' place in the Europa League group stage.

A doff of the cap too to keeper Jordan Pickford, who saved a penalty and made a couple of other important saves.

    £75m well spent right there.

Thanks for your company this evening. I'll see thee.

  2. History made for Macedonia

Earlier today, Vardar became the first Macedonian team to reach the group stages of a European competition. They beat Fenerbahce 2-1 in Turkey to follow on their 2-0 home win.

  3. Europa League draw

    Hajduk Split 1-1 Everton (1-3)

So, Everton will be in the draw for the group stage of the Europa League, which takes place tomorrow at around 12:00 BST.

Arsenal are in there as well.

  4. Match stats

    Hajduk Split 1-1 Everton (1-3)

Opta have provided us with some stats from this evening. My favourite is this one:

    • The Toffees registered more shots on target in the opening 14 seconds of the second half than they did in the entire first half (0).

    Here are some others:

    • Everton have won nine their last 11 European games (inc. qualifiers), losing the other two matches.
    • For the second consecutive campaign under Ronald Koeman, Everton have not lost any of their opening six games of the season in all competitions (W4 D2).
    • Everton have now progressed from each of their last two Europa League qualifying phases (also in 2009/10 under David Moyes).
    • Josip Radosevic's opener ended an Everton run of 313 minutes without conceding in European competition under Ronald Koeman.
    • After conceding all four penalties he faced at Sunderland (all in the Premier League), Jordan Pickford saved the first penalty he faced as an Everton player.
  5. Post update

    Hajduk Split 1-1 Everton (1-3)

Not a bad couple of goals we've seen this evening in Split.

Josip Radosevic unleashed an absolute net-ripper to give Hajduk the lead from about 35 yards.

Sixteen seconds into the second half, Gylfi Sigurdsson latched on to a loose ball and looped a first-time shot over the keeper and into the corner of the net from about 50 yards.

I'll leave you to argue over which was better. I'll give you a clue as to which I'm backing. The scorer starts with G and ends in ylfi Sigurdsson.

    £45m?! A snip.

  6. Elsewhere in Europe...

Ajax, last season's finalists, are out in this year's qualifiers. They lost 3-2 to Rosenborg tonight (4-2 agg).

The Dutch giants have failed to win a single European game in a season for the first time in 27 years.

Meanwhile, Athletic Bilbao, Marseille, AC Milan and Braga are into the group stages.

    Hajduk Split 1-1 Everton (1-3)

After two minutes of uneventful added time the referee blows up to confirm Everton's progression to the Europa League proper.

It wasn't without a scare or two but the job is done.

    Hajduk Split 1-1 Everton (1-3)

Ante Erceg is an angry, frustrated man. He is penalised for upending Morgan Schneiderlin and kicks the ball into his opponent, earning himself a booking.

Plays with his heart on his sleeve does Ante, for better or worse.

  9. Post update

    Hajduk Split 1-1 Everton (1-3)

Everton keeping hold of the ball now, running down the clock as the home side chase them with increasing frustration.

  10. Post update

    Hajduk Split 1-1 Everton (1-3)

Rooney to finish it for good..... No!

The forward breaks the offside trap and at one stage looks likely to charge in and beat the keeper but his legs don't have the pace they once did and he is forced to check before firing a shot through the gathered defenders that Dante Stipica palms away.

  11. Post update

    Hajduk Split 1-1 Everton (1-3)

Every second that ticks by is a killer for Hadjuk's hopes here. Everton are doing a decent job of denying the home side any chances to get goals back.

Ante Erceg resorts to acrobatically trying to con the ref with a dive in the box. The ref isn't fooled, though. A booking would have been an apt result.

  12. Post update

    Hajduk Split 1-1 Everton (1-3)

Vieira151‏: That Sigurdsson goal was worth just under £1m per yard.

  13. Post update

    Hajduk Split 1-1 Everton (1-3)

A terrible mix-up between Ashley Williams and Jordan Pickford almost allows Ante Erceg to nip in and roll the ball into the empty net. The Everton pair manage to salvage the situation, though, before Erceg can do any damage.

Hajduk need three goals in just over 10 minutes. Going to be a cracking finish if they manage it!

    Hajduk Split 1-1 Everton (1-3)

Tom Davies is felled by Josip Radosevic who gets a booking to go with his goal.

That is the cue for a home substitution as Fran Tudor, who sounds like a lovely women who organises school fetes, but is actually a man who comes on for Ahmed Said.

  15. Post update

    Hajduk Split 1-1 Everton (1-3)

Ahmed Said has some making up to do after his woeful penalty. He goes close to doing so with a neat turn and powerful shot that fizzes just past Jordan Pickford's near post.

    Hajduk Split 1-1 Everton (1-3)

Mo Besic gets a yellow card? Never! The Everton man goes into the book for getting a bit carried away in a heavy tackle.

First change for Everton sees Tom Davies replace Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

  17. Elsewhere in Europe...

Ajax could be heading out after all, Samuel Adegbenro has put Rosenborg 3-2 up on aggregate. They've scored from both their shots on target tonight.

  18. Post update

    Hajduk Split 1-1 Everton (1-3)

This must be new to the Europa League. Looks like we're playing multi-ball. There are two on the pitch at the moment - one in the box being battled over and one at the feet of the Hajduk left-winger.

Eventually, one of them is belted off and the right one is reclaimed by Everton who put Dominic Calvert-Lewin through on goal only to be denied by the keeper.

    Hajduk Split 1-1 Everton (1-3)

No! Jordan Pickford to the rescue!

The keeper picks right, diving to his right to push away a poor spot kick from Ahmed Said.

I suspect Ante Erceg might have a few choice words for his team-mate. He wanted that penalty.
