  2. 'I would love to stay on'

    Swansea 1-2 Leicester

Leicester care-taker boss Michael Appleton speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "It is very difficult when you lose the manager.

"I wasn't sure what response we would get. The game should have been outside in the first 20 minutes really but obviously the goalkeeper had a fantastic game."

On Riyad Mahrez: "I think his work rate was fantastic. The only thing that was missing from his performance was a goal.

"He did ever so well for us and was important for the team."

On his future as manager: "For me it's about staying in the role I have already been given and obviously I would love to stay on after that."

  3. 'The response I hoped for'

    Swansea 1-2 Leicester

Leicester care-taker manager Michael Appleton: "Obviously it has been a difficult week. The way we moved the ball at times in that first half was great.

"To produce that performance after the week we have had, the players deserve a lot of credit.

"It's the response I was hoping for."

  4. 'A step back'

    Swansea 1-2 Leicester

Swansea manager Paul Clement speaking to BBC Match of the day: "The performance in the first half was what let us down.

"Nothing happened in the game that we didn't think was coming. There is a difference between preparation and application.

"Their first goal was marginally off-side. But from a performance point of view we have to be better.

"We made a step back today.

  5. 'Frustrating' defeat

    Swansea 1-2 Leicester

Swansea manager Paul Clement speaking to Match of the Day: "It was frustrating. The first half was too open and we got caught in between not pressing high enough and not being compact enough.

"When we went 2-0 down it did become open. We got back in it and pushed up to the end. It's easier to do it when you have to chase the score line.

"I'm disappointed to have gone backwards today. There is some nervousness around the stadium.

"We have to be able to deal with that."

  6. 'It's the owners decision'

    Swansea 1-2 Leicester

Leicester captain Wes Morgan: "Michael (Appleton) didn't want us to get distracted. We have no control of what's going on off the pitch so all we can do is show what we can do on the pitch.

"It's down to the owners, it's their decision. We have the utmost respect for Michael Appleton and we will for however gets the permanent role.

"Whatever has happened, has happened. We have to move on."

  7. 'We were surprised'

    Swansea 1-2 Leicester

Leicester captain Wes Morgan: "The boys had to remain focused and I think we did very well today.

"Obviously it happened (Craig Shakespeare's sacking) quite suddenly and a few of the boys were surprised but it was a decision made by the owners.

"We have to go out there and win games and it was a good start from us. We looked like the most threatening team and made our possession count.

"To concede from a set-piece is not ideal but we showed great resiliece to carry on and see the game out.

  8. Post update

    Swansea 1-2 Leicester

There were three outstanding performances in that game as Leicester's Riyad Mahrez and Shinji Okazaki provided the quality touches in order to come away with a victory.

Lukasz Fabianski was his side's saviour in the first-half and kept Swansea in the game.

Okazaki, who scored Leicester's second, had three shots on goal as well as two key passes in that game.

All of Fabianski's saves came in the first half.

  9. How the table looks now...

    Swansea 1-2 Leicester

Leicester have moved up five places following that win over Swansea. They started the morning off in the relegation zone.

Swansea have dropped from 14th position to 15th.

  10. 'Everybody loved Shakespeare'

    Swansea 1-2 Leicester

Leicester's Riyad Mahrez: "It was a difficult week for us as everybody knows so we put everything on the side and played our game.

"Obviously, Craig Shakespeare was our manager and everybody loved him at the club. We played good today and we deserved the win.

"I am enjoying it. I got two assists today but it is more important we got all three points."

  11. Post update

    Swansea 1-2 Leicester

Leicester were relentless in the first-half and Swansea were always going to be on the back foot after conceding that own goal.

Alfie Mawson's second-half goal for Swansea looked set to spark a comeback but it wasn't to be for the hosts!

    Swansea 1-2 Leicester

Michael Appleton picks up a win in his first game in charge of Leicester City.

Demarai Gray comes on for Leicester.

  15. Post update

    Swansea 1-2 Leicester

Time is running out here but Swansea have been getting closer to an equaliser.

Leicester still pose a threat on the break.

  16. Post update

    Swansea 1-2 Leicester

The free-kick comes to nothing and Leicester can break.

Mahrez is running at the Swansea defence with pace but Tom Carroll puts in an excellent tackle to stop him going any further.

It's a very open game now...

  17. Post update

    Swansea 1-2 Leicester

Wayne Routledge is on for Renato Sanches. It was another lack-lustre display from the loannee.

Just as he goes off, Wes Morgan concedes a free-kick in a dangerous area.

  18. CHANCE!

    Swansea 1-2 Leicester

    Vardy should have scored.

He goes through one-on-one with Fabianski but when he opens his body up to slot the ball to the right, it's far too easy for the Swansea keeper to detect.

Mahrez follows up the rebound with a strike from the edge of the area but Fabianski is down low to stop it from creeping in.

  19. Post update

    Swansea 1-2 Leicester

The game is very much in the balance now as both sides are trying to keep the ball and doing so with relatively little success.

A goal for Leicester will be a huge boost for Appleton's side but Swansea are still looking for that equaliser...
