'This has to be a spring board'

Swansea 1-0 West Brom

Swansea City

Swansea manager Paul Clement speaks to BBC Sport: "It was a really important result today. As everyone knows we have been struggling for form and performances and results have not been good enough. The players have given everything today.

"There has been frustration in the club that we have not performed how we are capable of. But we did what was needed to be done. The timing of the goal put us in a great position. We are happy to have a win because it seems some time since we have had one.

"It's an important win for everybody. I go into my job the same every week with good prep from Monday to Friday. Now it's move on and this has to be a springboard. We have a difficult test against Manchester City, the best team in the league, but there are points up for grabs so let's see what we get.

"Man City is a big ask, then it's Everton and Palace, games which are maybe more realistic."

'It's going to be tight'

Swansea 1-0 West Brom

West Bromwich Albion

West Brom boss Alan Pardew speaks to BBC Sport: "Maybe it's a lack of confidence or belief. The dialogue of the team was first class and that will go a long way for us to stay up. But we need to start scoring goals.

"It is going to be tight. I think anyone who is on 18 points is in it. We have to focus now on Liverpool and try to get something at Anfield.

"It's difficult to assess a new team sometimes until you get in the heat of battle. Some of my offensive players look like they need a goal or an assist or something."

'We need a spark'

Swansea 1-0 West Brom

West Bromwich Albion

West Brom boss Alan Pardew: "I think we deserved something as the away side. We struggled to create clear-cut chances but we had a great few chances on the break. We didn't take them and lacked a bit of conviction. There was nothing between the two teams really.

"We can't question the commitment. We just need that bit fo quality. That final moment, final pass or decision, it just let us down.

"You can see the team is looking for a spark from an offensive player. A little bit of something special. The organisation and commitment was good but you cant say that every week, you have to score goals.

"We will take a win any way it comes. It was a scrappy game but I felt we had opportunities."

'We needed it'

Swansea 1-0 West Brom

Swansea City

Swansea match-winner Wilfried Bony: "You can see all the fans are happy. We needed it. We didn't give up and that win was very important today.

"I was around the box and knew I just needed one chance as the game was tight. I was tired and just waiting. I saw the ball dropping and thought that was it.

"I pushed myself and we deserved the three points. It was intense, it was physical in parts. We just needed to be focused. The most important was the points so we get confidence."

On or off the bottom?

Swansea 1-0 West Brom

Swansea are off the bottom but if Crystal Palace score a late penalty against Bournemouth the Swans will stay bottom. Christian Benteke sees his spot-kick saved.

Swansea are now 19th.

FULL-TIME

Swansea 1-0 West Brom

They have done it. That was the epitome of a hard-fought win.

Paul Clement said his side had a dressing room argument last weekend and said he'd been waiting for it. He described it as healthy.

We have now played the four added minutes...

Swansea 1-0 West Brom

Swansea look like they will hold on. West Brom have simply not been able to get back into it. Paul Clement looks pumped up to say the least.

'It would have been a tap-in'

Swansea 1-0 West Brom

Kevin Kilbane

Former Everton winger on Final Score

It was a great Swansea breakaway, and Abraham is through on goal. But instead of fluffing his chip he should have dinked a little sideways pass to Ayew, and it would have been a tap-in.

CLOSE!

Swansea 1-0 West Brom

Tammy Abraham breaks away for the Swans and he is clear on the halfway line. He races at goal and has time to pick his spot. He lifts the ball over Foster and wide. What a chance.

Swansea 1-0 West Brom

Four added minutes as West Brom attack....

Swansea 1-0 West Brom

Swansea seem in control. West Brom have the ball on halfway and they will launch it forward...

West Brom are not threatening but a second goal for Swansea would make sure.

Swansea 1-0 West Brom

West Brom are pushing a little and substitute Oliver Burke overstretches to concede a free-kick. Swansea are closing in on a first win since mid-October.

'Emphatic'

Swansea 1-0 West Brom

Dafydd Pritchard

BBC Sport Wales at the Liberty Stadium

When you're bottom of the league, winless since October and searching desperately for a goal, the ball falls to Bony a couple of yards out with bodies in the way and... BANG. The most emphatic finish.

CLOSE!

Swansea 1-0 West Brom

Swansea boss Paul Clement is fist pumping and demanding his side dig in. But they almost concede immediately as Salomon Rondon heads just over from a promising position.

Bony 'opted for power'

Swansea 1-0 West Brom

Kevin Kilbane

Former Everton winger on Final Score

A bit of bravery from Bony to get to that ball.

He leathers that strike - he opted for power over precision. And he's fundamentally a goalscorer.

GOAL - Swansea 1-0 West Brom

Wilfried Bony

The resistance is broken. Swansea have a goal and Wilfried Bony has two in two matches for the first time since 2014.

An in-swinging corner to the back post results in a scramble as Tammy Abraham lunges for the ball, which breaks back to Bony six yards out, who lashes it high into net. A powerful finish and the stadium erupts.

Swansea 0-0 West Brom

Suddenly it's all Swansea as Kyle Naughton wins a corner. Ki Sung-Yueng with it... cleared. Roque Mesa shoots... deflected for another corner.

SUBSTITUTION

Swansea 0-0 West Brom

Tammy Abraham is on as Swansea swing in a corner. Allan Nyom has to head clear underneath his own cross bar as Abraham lurked at the back stick.

Swansea 0-0 West Brom

Hal Robson-Kanu with a cross from the left. He's on the deck immediately in a heap of pain. I think he was caught. His delivery looks for Jay Rodriguez but Alfie Mawson climbs all over the striker to clear.

Jordan Ayew looks interested in possession and runs towards the area... onto his right peg... hit... fine low save. That's the first home shot on goal.

Swansea 0-0 West Brom

Another Swansea corner is easily claimed by Ben Foster.

James McClean has been quote good since coming on and looks a bundle of energy as he helps win the ball back to thwart another home attack.

Tammy Abraham is about to come on for the Swans.

Swansea 0-0 West Brom

As we hit 70 minutes, Swansea have not managed a shot on target.

Swansea 0-0 West Brom

Tom Carroll crosses nicely at one end but there's no one in the mix at the near post. James McClean does the same at the other end... Jay Rodriguez knocks the ball down but it's scrambled clear.

Swansea 0-0 West Brom

Chris Wise

Match of the Day commentator at Liberty Stadium

The speed of attack was terrific, the final ball was drastic.

Swansea 0-0 West Brom

What a waste.

West Brom set up a super counter-attack and Hal Robson-Kanu is released. It's briefly three versus four and he has option. He can cut it back to a supporting runner but instead does pretty much nothing. It was as if he was confused as to whether to cross or shoot and he ends up doing a mix of the two.

Swansea 0-0 West Brom

The home side win a free-kick in a central position, 25 yards out.

Roque Mesa, Jordan Ayew and Tom Carroll are all interested and place the ball. I think it will be Carroll.... it is... into the wall.

Swansea 0-0 West Brom

You can see from the stats below that Swansea are seeing more ball across this game but in the last five minute West Brom have been much better. They seem to have a touch more confidence suddenly.

The game is a little more open suddenly. Could we get a breakthrough?

Swansea 0-0 West Brom
.

Swansea 0-0 West Brom

West Brom enjoy their best passage of play today and force two corners before eventually seeing James McClean swing a good ball in from near the touchline. Jay Rodriguez glances a header but it's held.

Swansea 0-0 West Brom

Match of the Day commentator at Liberty Stadium

Jordan Ayew hasn't scored in three months.

SUBSTITUTION

Swansea 0-0 West Brom

Jordan Ayew shoots well over the bar moments after coming on for Wayne Routledge.

CLOSE!

Swansea 0-0 West Brom

The Wilfried Bony of a few seasons back turns up as he spins in midfield, dribbles, cuts back onto his right peg and shoots low, just wide from 30 yards. Very good stuff, an accurate hit and more of that kind of industry is needed.

Swansea 0-0 West Brom

Salomon Rondon jumps to win a header and wipes out Roque Mensa. That will leave a mark.

It looks like Jordan Ayew will be on shortly.

Swansea 0-0 West Brom

Martin Olsson wants a free-kick near the corner flag but is getting no such joy out of referee Mike Dean. To be fair, Hal Robson-Kanu is all over him like a cheap aftershave and gets away with one.

YELLOW CARD

Swansea 0-0 West Brom

Jake Livermore wins the ball from Nathan Dyer on halfway. The England midfielder has been decent today. He's completed 89% of his passes. The only players out there who are more accurate are Roque Mesa on 91% and Jay Rodriguez on 100%, 'though the West Brom striker has only played 10 passes.

Tom Carroll is booked for over-stretching into a tackle.

Swansea 0-0 West Brom

James McClean comes off the bench and starts with some energy down the left. He bounces around during a passage of play and eventually collects a clever Kieran Gibbs pass to cross into the hands of Lukasz Fabianski.

Swansea 0-0 West Brom

It was Sam Field, who was on a yellow, who has gone off for the away side at the break.

KICK-OFF

Swansea 0-0 West Brom

Swansea have failed to score in nine of their 15 league games this season. They get us rolling again here.

SUBSTITUTION

Swansea 0-0 West Brom

It looks like James McClean is coming on for the away side. He's getting some instruction from Alan Pardew, the last of which involves the traditional point at the head - the international action for 'use your loaf son'.
