Carl, Wokingham: Chelsea control games and create chances but we are rather toothless and lack clinical finishing. Main reason why we are so far off the pace.

    Eden Hazard reacts
  3. SUBSTITUTION

    Everton 0-0 Chelsea

All hands to the pump for Everton as the defend in deep and numbers.

Chelsea make another switch to try and find a way through the massed ranks of blue shirts.

Davide Zappacosta comes on for Victor Moses.

    Ten to go.

  4. Post update

    Everton 0-0 Chelsea

    Another Chelsea corner.

Loose ball into the box. Antonio Rudiger swings a leg at it, but it is more shin than instep and Jordan Pickford flops on the effort gratefully.

  5. CLOSE!

    Everton 0-0 Chelsea

Ashley Williams is a mighty relieved man.

The Everton defender nearly undoes all his side's good defensive work as he instinctively puts his head on Victor Moses' cross and sends the ball fizzing against his own crossbar.

    Jordan Pickford was well beaten.

    But Everton survive unscathed.

Ashley Williams hits the bar of his own goal
  6. Post update

Dan Bell: Big Sam has made Everton difficult to beat but this is ugly to watch.

  8. Post update

    Everton 0-0 Chelsea

Big Sam Allardyce, short tie, low belt, headset in place and hands on hips, looks pretty pleased on the sidelines.

Seventeen minutes to go for a point.

  9. 'Chelsea players queuing up'

    Everton 0-0 Chelsea

    Leon Osman

Former Everton midfielder on Radio 5 live

At the moment all the Chelsea players are queuing up around the outside of the Everton box and nobody is in the penalty area ready for a tap in. That's where you miss a real striker, someone who will be there in the six yard box to convert some of these chances.

Some of the Everton players look like they don't have much left in the tank.

    Tiemoue Bakayoko
  10. SUBSTITUTION

    Everton 0-0 Chelsea

On comes Michy Batshuayi. Off comes Willian.

Chelsea with an out-and-out striker on the pitch after deploying Eden Hazard and a wide-roaming false nine from the start and Alvaro Morata suspended.

  11. Substitution incoming

    Everton 0-0 Chelsea

Apparently Antonio Conte has sent up the Batsignal.

Michy Batshuayi is on the ramp...

  12. GREAT SAVE!

    Everton 0-0 Chelsea

Eden Hazard with a sight of goal from 20 yards and, for once, no blue shirt breathing down his neck.

The Chelsea forward drives hard and low for the bottom corner, but Jordan Pickford sprawls left to deny him with another super save.

That is Chelsea's 17th shot at goal and fifth on target of the match so far.

    No breakthrough though.

    Eden Hazard shoots
  13. 'Fantastic from Keane'

    Everton 0-0 Chelsea

    Leon Osman

Former Everton midfielder on Radio 5 live

Eden Hazard was running through and Michael Keane, on a yellow card, had to make the tackle but absolutely had to get it right. What a fantastic, well-timed tackle it was from the Everton defender.

  14. SUBSTITUTION

    Everton 0-0 Chelsea

The Everton defence is proving a tough nut to crack. Antonio Conte calls for his master lockpick in Cesc Fabregas.

Pedro, whose pace has been nullified by Everton's deep-lying defence, is off.

  15. Post update

    Everton 0-0 Chelsea

Morgan Schneiderlin gets a fistful of Chelsea shirt to give away a free-kick in midfield.

Can the visitors make something of this?

Eden Hazard drops a shoulder to try and buy a yard of space, but the home defence is suffocatingly tight.

  16. Post update

    Everton 0-0 Chelsea

Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois comes out and punches clear over the heads of a mob of players.

  17. Post update

    Everton 0-0 Chelsea

Eden Hazard is back into the fray, but he is moving gingerly.

Antonio Conte has been barking in the ear of fourth official Anthony Taylor about the two-man challenge that hobbled his star man.

Chelsea have lost a little tempo in the last five minutes.

And now Everton have their first corner of the match...

Andy, Stockport: Super Jagielka also went in net for Sheffield United away at Crystal Palace in 2003 after Paddy Kenny got injured. Went down to 10 men too but still won that 1-2 as well!

All three Everton substitutions used, the scene is set...

  19. YELLOW CARD

    Everton 0-0 Chelsea

No hiding place for Eden Hazard.

Even in his own half, he has Everton players snapping around his ankles.

The Belgian is the meat in a sandwich between Michael Keane and Beni Baningime.

Keane gets a yellow, Hazard limps wincing towards the sidelines for treatment.

Cesar Azpilicueta speaks with referee Robert Madley while Chelsea's Eden Hazard is on the floor

Andy Rudd: Do not really understand those changes, especially Davies - he has carried the ball forward well even if he has lost it a few times. Williams, too often, has been a liability.

Michael Devlin: A more experienced manager wouldn’t have made two changes at halftime in case of injury. Oh wait...
