  1. Bye for now

    Man Utd 0-0 Southampton

Manchester United travel away to Everton next, less than 48 hours after the final whistle in this one.

Sam Allardyce will relish the chance to punch another hole in the Red Devils' hull.

Southampton meanwhile have Crystal Palace at St Mary's on 2 January. If they play like they did today, they have an excellent chance.

Like they did in the 5-2 drubbing by Tottenham on Boxing Day? Less so.

    See you later.

  2. Two games out for Lukaku?

    Man Utd 0-0 Southampton

    Manchester United

Jose Mourinho speaking to the media: "When you see a player leave the pitch like he did, it is usually two games at least."

He also pulling the old middle-management trick of sandwiching criticism between wafer-thin slice of praises, claiming Craig Pawson is one of the best referees in Europe before laying into his failure to call a penalty against Maya Yoshida.

  3. 'We have a couple of targets'

    Manchester United 0-0 Southampton

More from Mauricio Pellegrino on what he plans to do with the Virgil Van Dijk funds: "It's good because we have our targets - we have a couple of targets we'd like to bring in, but with the transfer market you never know what's going to happen."

  4. 'United had uncomfortable moments'

    Man Utd 0-0 Southampton

    Mauricio Pellegrino

Southampton manager Mauricio Pellegrino: "I think we were solid and we had our moments in the game. I think United had moments where they were uncomfortable on the pitch and we played really well. I think we can use this performance as an example for the next game. Today I think our positioning was good and we did very well.

"It's not just the point that is important, it is important the way we play today and we have possibility to bounce back from difficult moments. This month was really difficult. We had injuries and troubles so I'm happy we bounced back from that. This is good news for us."

Jose Mourinho has just opened his press conference by saying "we played enough to win".

The XG numbers show his side created the better chances, but Southampton also had their moments.

  6. 'A disappointing afternoon for Craig'

    Man Utd 0-0 Southampton

    Manchester United

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho: "I think it is also a disappointing afternoon for Craig [Pawson, the referee] because he's a fantastic referee, one of the best in Europe.

"We missed easy chances but I'm really unhappy with the penalty, not with Pawson's performance - Today I think Craig had a good performance, it was a big decision to make from Craig.

"I'm happy with the players' attitude, the players' desires and I'm very happy with my place."

    Jose Mourinho
  7. 'We need to get back in the winning mentality'

    Manchester United 0-0 Southampton

    Manchester United

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba: "We wanted to win today, but we could only get the draw. We need to get back in the winning mentality, because it will be better for all of us.

"We didn't have the final pass today, and we had a penalty that wasn't given, and if we had that, and scored, it would've changed the game.

"The pressure is coming from behind, but we have to forget about everyone else, and focus on ourselves."

On Romelu Lukaku: "We don't have any news for the moment, tomorrow we will hear from the doctors."

  11. Zlatan out for a month

    Man Utd 0-0 Southampton

Jose Mourinho has just come out to meet the television cameras. He is bullish, but monosyllabic mood.

He is peeved by the lack of a penalty in the first half when the ball hit Maya Yoshida on the arm.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is out for a month as well apparently, but he would not be drawn on the possibility of January reinforcements up front.

    Full quotes to come.

  12. 'It's a really important point for us'

    Manchester United 0-0 Southampton

Southampton captain Maya Yoshida: "It was a really important point for us, especially after a really sobering few games. The reaction from the players was great, we're really happy with that. We showed good spirit today, and now we move onto the next game."

Southampton goalkeeper Alex McCarthy: "It's nice to come in again and play, I've been out injured for a while, but the main thing is we've taken a good point away from home.

"We knew they'd create chances, but we've also had a good few efforts, and Shane Long was really unlucky in the second half, as it was a great save from David De Gea to deny him."

  13. At the bottom

    Man Utd 0-0 Southampton

Southampton edge two points away from the relegation zone.

Seth Gogo Egoeh: Since Pogba's return from injury and has been made captain by Mourinho, we've lost one and drawn three! Coincidence?

Josh: I've made a Twitter account to say that I can't stand watching United anymore... The slow, poor quality football hurts too much...

  15. At the top...

    Man Utd 0-0 Southampton

A third straight draw in the Premier League and sudddenly Manchester United are looking over their shoulder rather than doing the maths on what is needed to overhaul City at the top.

Chelsea now lead the chasing pack, one ahead of United. Liverpool are three behind Jose Mourinho's men.

  16. Very average performance from United

    Manchester United 0-0 Southampton

    Danny Mills

Former England defender on 5 Live

Very average performance from Manchester United, but well done to Southampton, who have come here and put in a decent showing. There were a few boos around Old Trafford after the final whistle, and some of the blame has to go to Jose Mourinho for his pragmatism, but the players have to take some responsibility too.

  17. Jose's not happy

    Man Utd 0-0 Southampton

    Simon Stone

    BBC Sport at Old Trafford

There was a lot of 'OK-ing' from referee Craig Pawson and not much eye contact when Jose Mourinho walked over to shake his hand.

    Mourinho looked distinctly unhappy.

Judging by the boos at the final whistle, he is not the only one.

  18. United record third straight PL draw

    Man Utd 0-0 Southampton

Jose Mourinho was straight onto the pitch to talk with referee Craig Pawson and it did not look like it was to enquire if he would like his post-match bottle of vino opened to breathe...

I'm not too sure what he was to complain about. I'm sure he will enlighten us.
