Until next time...

Real Madrid 0-1 Real Betis

Anyway, after that frantic finish at the Bernabeu, it's time for us to bow out and catch our breath.

Don't stray too far though, as you'll be able to read all about how the visitors pulled off arguably the shock of the La Liga season so far in the match report on the BBC Sport website any minute now.

I'll give you a little taster, it involves a diving header from Antonio Sanabria in the 94th-minute...

Ronaldo & co wasteful for Real

Real Madrid 0-1 Real Betis

Where does Zinedine Zidane go from here?

I imagine you buy yourself a fair amount of time with two Champions League wins on the bounce, but the Frenchman might want to put his side through a few shooting drills this week.

They had 27 shots this evening, but only managed seven on target.

Cristiano Ronaldo, on his return from a five-match ban, was one of those who was wasteful in front of goal, blazing one glorious chance way over from a smart Gareth Bale delivery.

Betis win at the Bernabeu

Real Madrid 0-1 Real Betis

OK, I may have mentioned Finidi George on a couple of occasions this evening, but that's Real Betis' first win in La Liga at the Bernabeu for 19 years.

For those of you who haven't been following, it was the Nigeria winger on target when the visitors last snatched a 1-0 win in October 1998.

Some effort from Quique Setien's side.

Real Madrid seven adrift of Barcelona

Real Madrid 0-1 Real Betis

La liga
BBC Sport

And here's how it looks...

Which is pretty bleak, if your name is Zinedine Zidane.

His side remain SEVEN points adrift of leaders Barcelona with just five games played.

But worse than that, they're currently outside of the European places all together.

Real Betis jump above the hosts to go sixth.

Sanabria wins it for Betis

Real Madrid 0-1 Real Betis

Well, well, well.

For all their possession and attempts on goal, Real Madrid come away from this one with nothing to show for it.

That's three games into the La Liga season, and no wins for Zinedine Zidane's side at the Bernabeu yet.

A fantastic winner from the former Barcelona youngster. Last-gasp stuff.

FULL-TIME

Real Madrid 0-1 Real Betis

It's all over. Real Betis have done it. Antonio Sanabria, the 21-year-old, is the hero.

GOAL - Real Madrid 0-1 Real Betis

Antonio Sanabria (90+3 mins)

Unbelievable!

What a moment for Antonio Sanabria, as he peels off his marker to the back post and thumps a header beyond Keylor Navas.

It's a beautiful delivery from Antonio Barragan, too. But the defender had so much time to pick his pass.

Real Madrid 0-0 Real Betis

Now Sergio Ramos is playing as a left winger. He's got a decent delivery with that left boot, too.

The defender whips one in, Beckham-esque, but Antonio Adan rises high into the Madrid sky to pluck it off the head of any would-be attackers.

DISALLOWED GOAL

Real Madrid 0-0 Real Betis

Goal! Yes? No...

Real Betis find themselves with so many players over on the Real Madrid defence and Joaquin smashes a shot across goal that Antonio Sanabria taps in from close range.

The forward thinks he's won it for Betis at the Bernabeu for the first time since Finidi George's side in 1998 - but he's offside.

Real Madrid 0-0 Real Betis

Was that the chance?

Real Madrid go powering forward and it's Dani Carvajal who ends up in the opposition box once again.

The full-back pulls it back towards Cristiano Ronaldo on the penalty spot, but the Portugal forward can't quite extend his stride enough to reach the pass.

Another opportunity goes begging.

Real Madrid 0-0 Real Betis

There are a few whistles ringing our around the Bernabeu now as the home fans think Real Betis are wasting time.

I say a few, a few thousand that is. That frustration is only increased when Casemiro misplaces a pass and Madrid give away a throw in their own half.

Betis will be happy to just keep hold of this.

Real Madrid 0-0 Real Betis

Right, what can Real Madrid conjure up in the final five minutes?

They work it wide right to Gareth Bale, who shifts it on to his right foot and swings in a cross only to see it headed clear.

The Welshman gets another chance to deliver, but this time he gets his angles all wrong and it drifts harmlessly out over Antonio Adan's bar.

Real Madrid 0-0 Real Betis

And here they come, the men in green, but Joaquin can't quite find the final pass as the former Valencia man hands it back to Real Madrid on the edge of the hosts' penalty box.

He's 36, Joaquin... starting and finishing his career at the same club it would seem. Some innings from the former Spain winger.

Real Madrid 0-0 Real Betis

Saying that Real Madrid have been dominant, there's been chances on the break for Betis.

The hosts look a little open at the back as they throw everything into getting three points. That gap on Barcelona ain't going to close itself...

SUBSTITUTION

Real Madrid 0-0 Real Betis

Somehow, Real Betis are surviving here.

Real Madrid have had chance after chance, but Antonio Adan has been equal to all the hosts have flung in his direction.

The visitors opt for a swap - It's Joaquin on for Fabian Ruiz Pena.

CLOSE!

Real Madrid 0-0 Real Betis

Pure inspiration from Gareth Bale!

This time it's the Welshman who pops up in the box, and he flicks Lucas' cross goalwards between his legs - reminiscent of a goal Gianfranco Zola once scored at Stamford Bridge for Chelsea, but in midair.

Real Madrid 0-0 Real Betis

Cristiano Ronaldo doesn't have his eye in tonight.

Real Madrid pour forward and the Portuguese drops off his marker to make space on the edge of the area for a cut back, but blazes it high, wide and not at all handsome.. if you're a Real Madrid fan.

SUBSTITUTION

Real Madrid 0-0 Real Betis

Gareth Bale is going from wing to wing quicker than a fresher in a cheap chicken shop.

He pops up on the left again and pings a diagonal ball out to the opposite flank, but Real Betis eventually scrambles clear.

We're going to see Marcelo replaced. He's only just come back from suspension, but the left-back looks to have picked up an injury and Lucas comes on.

Real Madrid players look confused? There's 12 on the pitch after Borja Mayoral jogs on...finally Luka Modric realises his number is up.

Real Madrid 0-0 Real Betis

We've not seen too much of Toni Kroos tonight, but the German suddenly springs into life to force a save from Antonio Adan.

Kroos makes space for himself outside the box, and then cracks a right-footed effort towards the corner.

Adan's had a superb game, and pushes it wide.

Real Madrid 0-0 Real Betis

There go Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale again.

The Portuguese tricks his way forward with some neat, quick footwork before playing a one-two with the Wales forward, but Ronaldo then hauls Antonio Barragan to the floor inside the Betis box.

It's like watching Torvill and Dean at the minute with these two. Twists, twirls... and eventually a tumble.

SUBSTITUTION

Real Madrid 0-0 Real Betis

That wayward effort a few moments ago was Francis Guerrero's final involvement.

The 21-year-old comes off for Ryad Boudebouz.

Real Madrid 0-0 Real Betis

Well, the more Real Madrid come on to Real Betis, the more space that is opening up for the visitors.

They just can't seem to execute it at the minute. Luka Modric looks to break away in response to a Betis attack, but Zouhair Feddal steps across and almost clotheslines the midfielder.

He goes into the book.

CLOSE!

Real Madrid 0-0 Real Betis

What a chance for Betis!

Marcelo gets it so wrong from a hopeful punt up field and finds himself on the floor as Francis Guerrero runs clear.

The youngster has time to set himself, have a glance at the onrushing Keylor Navas and find his spot - but he fluffs it.

Real Betis should be ahead.

Real Madrid 0-0 Real Betis

It's all Real Madrid in the first 10 minutes of this second half.

This time Cristiano Ronaldo gets some joy down the right after a quick step-over, but there's no one in the box to convert a fizzing ball across the box.

Real Madrid 0-0 Real Betis

The Gareth Bale-Cristiano Ronaldo axis is beginning to click.

The Welshman flies down the left and delivers a low, inviting ball into the path of Ronaldo, who uncharacteristically skies a first-time effort from inside the box.

You'd back him to bury those. Out of match practice?

Real Madrid 0-0 Real Betis

Francis Guerrero shows anything Real Madrid's stars can do, he can do better.

The Real Betis youngster nonchalantly saunters his way past several would-be tackles to put the visitors on the attack, lovely composure.

Real Madrid 0-0 Real Betis

All aboard the showboat, it's Cristiano Ronaldo and Marcelo in a race to outdo each other early in the second half.

Ronaldo executes a lovely back heel, before the Brazil left-back rolls his foot across the ball and steps over it in the same motion.

Won't be attempting that one at the work five-a-side.

KICK-OFF

Real Madrid 0-0 Real Betis

Here we go for the second half. Real Madrid get it under way...

Real Madrid 0-0 Real Betis

Anyway, back to the present day.

There's been a few games in La Liga tonight - with Atletico Madrid having won 2-1 at Atletico Bilbao probably the biggest story for you.

Sevilla are also in action at the minute, they're currently drawing 0-0 with Las Palmas.

Real Madrid 0-0 Real Betis

In other Finidi George-related news, I read an interview recently where the Nigeria winger said he could have signed for Real Madrid before joining Betis.

That move never happened, he did end up at Ipswich Town though....

Remember this chap?

What a player Finidi George was, and the Nigeria international was on target the last time Real Betis won at the Bernabeu.

The winger netted the only goal in a 1-0 win for the visitors way back in October 1998.

HALF-TIME

Real Madrid 0-0 Real Betis

And that's the half-time whistle.

Real Betis make it to the break unscathed. It's been a Real Madrid bombardment in the final few minutes, although Keylor Navas did have to pull of a fine save to keep the visitors at bay.

Real Madrid 0-0 Real Betis

Real Madrid are relentless at the minute.

Luke Modric is pulling the strings at the Bernabeu as he makes space to drive towards the Betis area before slipping a through ball into Cristiano Ronaldo's path.

The forward takes a heavy touch, tries to recover his footing and slips over in the box. Not even he's claiming a penalty for that one.

Real Madrid 0-0 Real Betis

Antonio Adan, take a bow!

The Real Betis goalkeeper shows no lingering effects from that collision moments earlier as he gets down low to keep out a fierce Isco effort.

It was lovely link up play between Luke Modric and the Real Madrid playmaker, who picked up the Croatia international's neat reverse pass inside the area before cutting on to his left foot and firing on target.

Real Madrid 0-0 Real Betis

Oooof. Antonio Adan has just taken the brunt of Casemiro and Sergio Ramos while in full flight.

The Betis keeper punches the ball clear like a heavyweight boxer from a deep cross, only to take a whack himself from the oncoming Madrid players.

He's back on his feet, thankfully.

Real Madrid 0-0 Real Betis

Real Madrid are straight back on the attack after that momentary scare.

Marcelo, showing he's got more than just a sweet left foot, cuts inside on his right and delivers a ball to the penalty spot where Cristiano Ronaldo is lurking.

The Portuguese rises, perfect pencil jump form, but flicks a header over the bar.

CLOSE!

Real Madrid 0-0 Real Betis

Well, well, well.

What do they teach you at under-6s down the local park? Don't throw the ball across your own area.

Dani Carvajal, for all I've been praising him, does just that and the defender gives it straight to Fabian Ruiz Pena.

The Real Betis man can't believe his luck, he skips forward and fizzes an effort towards the top corner, only to find Keylor Navas at full stretch to finger-tip it behind for a corner.

Real Madrid 0-0 Real Betis

There's a murmur of frustration starting to float around the Bernabeu. The Real Madrid fans haven't witnessed their side win at home in La Liga yet this season.

It's that man Dani Carvajal bombing forward down the right again, but again he can't keep it in.

CLOSE!

Real Madrid 0-0 Real Betis

Gareth Bale has switched flanks again. And now he's getting some joy down the right.

The Wales forward whips a dangerous ball into the middle of the area and it's Casemiro arriving at pace, but the Brazilian heads over. He should've done better with that.

Real Madrid getting closer. It's almost a chance a minute.
