  2. How things stand...

    Table

That means, at the start of play, the Championship table looks a bit like this.

Wolves and Cardiff will still be hoping to end the day top, while Bristol City, Preston and Derby could all yet find themselves in the top six by 17:00 BST too.

We'll bring you all the build-up to our 15:00 BST kick-offs throughout the next couple of hours, but first let's turn our attentions towards Hillsborough, where the two managers have been busy naming their teams for the South Yorkshire derby...

  3. Sheffield United go top of the Championship

    Leeds 1-2 Sheff Utd

Sheffield United, promoted from League One last season, went top of the Championship thanks to David Brooks' late winner at Yorkshire rivals Leeds United.

Billy Sharp put the visitors in front with a second-minute header that keeper Andy Lonergan could not keep out, as the Blades controlled the early stages.

Kalvin Phillips equalised for the hosts with a cleanly-struck volley from the edge of the area before the break.

Samuel Saiz's swerving strike hit the post for Leeds before substitute Brooks won the game with a calm, low finish.

So who will end the day top of the EFL? Cardiff City and Wolves have been the pacesetters so far in 2017-18, but last night the Blades were out...

  5. 'Yorkshire, Yorkshire, Yorkshire...'

Sheff Wed v Barnsley (12:30 BST)

    Sheffield Wednesday fans

Yorkshire Day (like that's even a thing, right?) may have come and gone at the start of August, but the county they call "God's own" still seems to be at the centre of our attention this weekend.

After last night's feisty derby at Elland Road provided us with a new name at the summit of the Championship table, we've another South Yorkshire tussle to get stuck into this lunchtime.

    Expecting more fireworks? You betchya.
