Good night

FT Hamilton 1-4 Rangers

Rangers were given a scare by Hamilton tonight but they have Declan John to thank for digging them out a hole when no-one else looked capable. After that, despite good chances for an out-of-sorts Accies team, Rangers looked in control. They have much to work on if they are to finish second this season. Thanks for logging on tonight. If you fancy seeing the goals, UK visitors to our site can watch the highlights at midnight. I hope you can join our Scottish football coverage tomorrow. All the best.

Is that a halo, Wes?

FT Hamilton 1-4 Rangers

Wes Foderingham made very good saves from a Danny Redmond curling shot, a header by Steven Boyd, a penalty by Rakish Bingham and efforts from Accies sub. Botti Biabi. A gift to Rangers from above perhaps?

Canning blasts 'unacceptable' Hamilton

FT: Hamilton Academical 1-4 Rangers

Hamilton Accies manager Martin Canning: "Frustration and disappointed at the way we competed in the first half. Teams should expect to come here and get a battle and that we'll be in their face, but we didn't do that. Tonight we had too many players who had an off night.

"When you see the goals back it's not acceptable. It's almost lazy which is unlike us.

"Sometimes you have to chalk it down to one of those nights and hopefully that's what it was. But you have to earn the right for things to go in your favour. We didn't put in enough work tonight to earn the breaks.

"Tonight we've got four or five players missing who would have started the game were they fit. I said to the players who have been squad players up until this point that this was their opportunity to go and stake their claim. Tonight we didn't do well enough in that department."

A sore one for Accies

Wrong starting line-up from Canning

Derek Ferguson

Former Rangers and Hamilton midfielder

I think Martin Canning got his starting XI wrong tonight. Massimo Donati should have started tonight to let Greg Docherty get further forward.

Waiting for Canning

FT: Hamilton Academical 1-4 Rangers

We're hoping to hear from Hamilton manager Martin Canning soon.

Caixinha pleased with Gers' unity

FT Hamilton 1-4 Rangers

Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha, speaking to BT Sport: "It (the win) says they are united, they know how to play and they know how to win.

“I trust in my players and when I have this I am a calm guy.

“The supporters know what we're are building, they are backing us and they know we are going to give our life for this club."

'We're behind Caixinha' - Dorrans

FT Hamilton 1-4 Rangers

Rangers midfielder Graham Dorrans, speaking to BT Sport: “We are all behind the manager and behind this entire football club.

“We stuck together tonight and battled well to come back and get control of the game."

Rangers fans expect better

FT Hamilton 1-4 Rangers

Derek Ferguson

Former Rangers and Hamilton midfielder

I'm trying to fathom this game out. For the Accies, it's as poor a performance as I've witnessed but in the second half they missed a penalty through Bingham, Boyd had a header saved and Botti Biabi had two great chances inside the box. On another day it could have been 4-4. From a Rangers perspective, I wasn't too impressed. They have rolled their sleeves up and they've got the result. Maybe it will take the pressure off Pedro Caixinha but one or two Rangers fans were gesturing to me there at the end that they expect better.

FULL-TIME

Hamilton 1-4 Rangers

Hamilton 1-4 Rangers

Dalcio wins his team a corner kick, much to the delight of the travelling supporters. It doesn't come to anything but it was a nice moment between a player struggling to find his way into the team and the Gers fans.

ADDED TIME

Hamilton 1-4 Rangers

Three minutes of additional time to be played.

Hamilton 1-4 Rangers

Rangers' Dalcio is on for a quick run-out as Daniel Candeias goes off.

Hamilton 1-4 Rangers

Wes Foderingham denies Botti Biabi from close range after good set-up play by Massimo Donati. If they'd had their shooting boots on, or if the Gers keeper had been off his game, Hamilton could have scored three or four in this second half.

Hamilton 1-4 Rangers

As things stand, Rangers would move up to third place from fifth, ahead of St Johnstone, who play second-placed Aberdeen tomorrow, on goal difference. That's why Pedro Caixinha is feeling good about things. Dundee and Ross County will have eighth-placed Hamilton in their sights tomorrow afternoon.

Rangers still showing vulnerable side

Hamilton 1-4 Rangers

Alex Rae

Former Rangers midfielder for BBC Scotland

We're saying Hamilton haven't played well, but they've had a penalty saved and a point-blank header denied by a great save. It shows how vulnerable Rangers still are.

GREAT SAVE!

Hamilton 1-4 Rangers

Wes Foderingham is having an impressive match in the Rangers goal. Steven Boyd, on for Ali Crawford, is in plenty of space and heads the ball at the corner of the goal but the Gers keeper, yet again, stretches to parry it away.

Hamilton 1-4 Rangers

How Rangers and their fans will be keen to get this match out the way. If they can keep the score at 4-1, under-pressure boss Pedro Caixinha will rightly point to their team spirit, although it only came into evidence when they levelled. They have dug in and are coping well with Accies even with 10 men.

Hamilton so poor

Hamilton 1-4 Rangers

Derek Ferguson

Former Rangers and Hamilton midfielder

As well as Rangers have done tonight this is as poor as I've seen Hamilton. They're so slack. One or two of those players need a bit of a blast.

Hamilton 1-4 Rangers

Mexican Eduardo Herrera is on for Rangers' Colombian striker Alfredo Morelos.

MISSED PENALTY

Hamilton 1-4 Rangers

Wes Foderingham dives to his left and parries Rakish Bingham's weak penalty away to his left. A goal would have made for an interesting last 20 minutes.

PENALTY

Hamilton 1-4 Rangers

Accies win a spot-kick... Botti Biabi brought down by Ross McCrorie.

Hamilton 1-4 Rangers

Ryan Jack is late with a challenge on Greg Docherty and is booked...and sent off.

Hamilton 1-4 Rangers

Hamilton forward duo Dougie Imrie and Rakish Bingham try a one-two at the edge of the box but Fabio Cardoso steams in, picks up the ball and clears the danger. He was like a right-footed Paolo Maldini there.

A double B for a double L

Hamilton 1-4 Rangers

Martin Canning makes a double switch for Hamilton, Botti Biabi replacing Louis Longridge and Massimo Donati on for Accies scorer Daniel Redmond.

Hamilton 1-4 Rangers

Jane Lewis

BBC Sport Scotland

The Accies manager not happy with his side at all. He's shaking his head and screaming instructions at his players. Accies making changes but despite a man down the damage is done.

Hamilton 1-4 Rangers

Derek Ferguson

Former Rangers and Hamilton midfielder

I think Martin has got his starting line-up wrong. Donati should have started, Docherty playing a little bit further forward. His game has been curtailed tonight.

Gogic should be booked for conceding the penalty

Hamilton 1-4 Rangers

Derek Ferguson

Former Rangers and Hamilton midfielder

He (Alex Gogic) should be booked for that.

GOAL Hamilton 1-4 Rangers

Graham Dorrans, pen

Now that is one cool way to dispatch a spot-kick. Graham Dorrans waits for Darren Jamieson to dive to his right before doing a "Panenka", dinking it straight down the middle and over the keeper's trailing legs.

PENALTY

Hamilton 1-3 Rangers

Penalty for Rangers as Jason Holt is brought down in the box by Alex Gogic, who is not even booked, never mind sent off.

Hamilton 1-3 Rangers

Jason Holt is on for Carlos Pena as Gers boss Pedro Caixinha adjusts his set-up to take account of Ryan Jack's dismissal.

Pena lucky not to be sent off

Hamilton Academical 1-3 Rangers

Jane Lewis

BBC Sport Scotland

Carlos Pena, before he was booked, looked to have used a 'strong elbow' on Greg Docherty. If the compliance officer sees it Pena might be in trouble for that. He can count himself a lucky man as he could have been sent off had the referee seen it.

RED CARD

Hamilton 1-3 Rangers

Ryan Jack, what on earth were you thinking of?! Already on a booking, he is not fast enough to reach the ball but takes the legs away from Greg Docherty and is shown a second yellow card. Off he goes. Jack was sent off against Hibs earlier in the season, though that was later rescinded.

Pena to be penalised?

Hamilton 1-3 Rangers

Jane Lewis, our touchline reporter at Hamilton, thinks Carlos Pena could be in a spot of bother for use of an elbow on Accies midfielder Greg Docherty.

YELLOW CARD

Hamilton 1-3 Rangers

Neither Ryan Jack nor Ali Crawford will want to see that one again. The Gers midfielder went in on Crawford with his leg straight and his studs showing and cracks into the shin of the Accies midfielder, who rolls around the plastic pitch in agony. Jack is shown a yellow card.

KICK-OFF
