  1. Farewell

    Greece 0-0 Croatia (agg 1-4)

    Croatia celebrate

And that will be that for another day of live football coverage on this site.

We've seen Northern Ireland fail to make World Cup 2018 despite a brave effort, you can read about that by clicking here.

We know Croatia and some of their big talents will be at the tournament. They eased over the line against Greece in a game which I have already forgotten about, such was its dire standard. Read about that by clicking here by all means.

And ultimately, the World Cup is now a day closer. Tomorrow we will be live-texting Italy v Sweden, a game of huge significance as the home side look to avoid missing the summer tournament for the first time in nearly 60 years.

For now goodnight and thanks for your company.

Congratulations if your team is heading to Russia.

  2. Post update

    Greece 0-0 Croatia (agg 1-4)

Check out that shot on target stat.

For the extra possession, Greece threatened very little indeed. The closest we came to a goal was when Ivan Perisic smashed against the post for Croatia from 30 yards.

Greece had a solid penalty shout early on but would it have made a big difference?

  3. Post update

Can I just say, I am glad to see the back of that game.

  4. Joyous jig...

    Greece 0-0 Croatia (agg 1-4)

Greece pay for a shocking defensive display in Croatia three days ago.

Croatia's players are dancing in a circle on the pitch, bouncing on the spot and jigging away.

    Croatia through to World Cup

    Greece 0-0 Croatia (agg 1-4)

Luka Modric hugs Zlatko Dalic on the touchline. The manager actually lands a kiss on his midfielder's cheek.

Congratulations Croatia, you are the 28th team to qualify for the 2018 World Cup.

    Greece 0-0 Croatia (agg 1-4)

Luka Modric off, Matej Mitrovic on. It counts as a cap of course, even if there are just seconds to go.

Modric will play at his third World Cup.

  7. Post update

    Greece 0-0 Croatia (agg 1-4)

We go into the last minute and the Greek fans sing their national anthem. Hats off to them.

  8. Shot on target!

    Greece 0-0 Croatia (agg 1-4)

Ivan Perisic walks off, Ante Rebic comes on.

Croatia have no fans here tonight. Each side agreed not to take away fans over the course of this tie due to clashes in the past. So even the celebrations will be subdued.

Greece curl a free-kick in which is partially cleared and we get the first shot on target which Danijel Subasic gathers at the second attempt.

Panagiotis Tachtsidis drove the ball straight at the keeper. Still, it's progress.

  9. Bring Olly on

    Greece 0-0 Croatia (agg 1-4)

    Olly Murs

This has now reached the point where not even the Croatia players are trying. It's like a testimonial or one of those friendly matches Olly Murs plays in at Old Trafford once a year.

Zeca crosses from deep, Dejan Lovren retreats 10 yards to head clear. Good defending.

  10. The joy and the pain...

    Greece 0-0 Croatia (agg 1-4)

    Dalic shakes Skibbe's hand

Greece boss Michael Skibbe (right) could be in trouble if they don't haul this back with the greatest 10 minutes in the history of the sport. Greece have reached the last two World Cups so failure will hit hard. Skibbe has some pedigree having been a coach at Schalke from the age of 22. By 32 he became the youngest ever manager in the history of the Bundesliga when he took charge at Borussia Dortmund.

His opposite number Zlatko Dalic is finding managing Croatia easy. He took the helm with one qualification game to go and beat Ukraine in a match in which the winner would make the play-offs. He's followed that with this two-legged tie and things are looking handsome.

Martin, Billericay: Greece v Croatia is the fifth game I've seen this weekend. So far the total goal tally is one... and that was the penalty that never was!

You have to love international football eh Martin?

  12. Post update

    Greece 0-0 Croatia (agg 1-4)

We almost have a shot on target but the ball is turned towards goal by a player in an offside position.

Greece have put Kostas Mitroglou out of his misery by taking him off, Nikola Kalinic is off for Croatia with Andrej Kramaric now in the mix.

I've been on health and safety courses which are more exciting than this.

  13. Post update

    Greece 0-0 Croatia (agg 1-4)

The players take a breather they haven't earned while Konstantinos Fortounis gets treatment.

Zagreb, Dubrovnik, Split, you can start partying.

  14. Lap it up...

    Greece 0-0 Croatia (agg 1-4)

So 72 minutes, just five touches in the area spread across both teams. Shots on target? Zero.

There are classics and then there is this.

    Greece 0-0 Croatia (agg 1-4)
  15. Post update

    Greece 0-0 Croatia (agg 1-4)

Konstantinos Fortounis stands over a free-kick in the middle of the Croatia half. There's little angle to work with but he curls the ball nicely to the back post... good clearing header though.

Greece come again, Dejan Lovren is sharp to slide in and clear some danger.

  16. Sunday league...

    Greece 0-0 Croatia (agg 1-4)

This is turning into Sunday league with every passing touch. Croatia goalkeeper Danijel Subasic lumps a clearance which is headed straight over the top and back to him by a Greece defender. Not happy with that, Subasic kicks from his hands again, straight to the keeper at the other end.

One of the worst passage of plays you could see. My eyes are bleeding.

    Croatia's Subasic
  17. Post update

    Greece 0-0 Croatia (agg 1-4)

Luka Modric swings a free-kick right into the hands of the Greece keeper who launches upfield.

It works for the home side, who pick up possession deep in the Croatia half and Giannis Gianniotas fires a low cross in. Dejan Lovren risks putting through his own net as he tangles with the ball in ugly fashion to divert it into the hands of his keeper.

  18. Post update

    Greece 0-0 Croatia (agg 1-4)

The substitutions seem to have changed the Greece shape to three at the back. Croatia pop the ball around in midfield, Luka Modric and Ivan Perisic link up, they bring Ivan Strinic into play at left-back and the move ends with Marcelo Brozovic being fouled.

    Modric will swing this in.

    Croatia's Ivan Perisic

    Greece 0-0 Croatia (agg 1-4)

Kostas Mitroglou has a dig with his right peg from 30 yards. It's a low daisy cutter and just wide. A bit better.

Double change for Greece, Konstantinos Fortounis and Giannis Gianniotas coming on. Great news for me as Lazaros Christodoulopoulos has gone off. Glad to see the back of his Scrabble-board name.

    Kostas Mitroglou of Greece
  20. Super Mario

    Greece 0-0 Croatia (agg 1-4)

    Mario Mandzukic

Mario Mandzukic was deemed too much of a risk for the first leg as he was shaking off an injury.

The Juventus striker is 31 and time is running out if he is to catch leading Croatia scorer Davor Suker on 45 goals.
