Fireworks over the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

Green and gold tickertape fluttering down over Stadium Australia.

Men At Work's Down Under on the tannoy and Mile Jedinak with the match ball under his arm.

It all means one thing. The Socceroos are through.

    Thanks for your company.

  2. GOAL - Australia 3-1 Honduras

    Maynor Figueroa

Maynor Figueroa bundles in from a corner, but is is going to be little consolation for Honduras.

  3. Post update

    Australia 3-0 Honduras (agg 3-0)

    Should be four!

Aaron Mooy picks out Tomi Juric completely unmarked at the far post, 10 yards out.

But the striker goes for the extravagant volley clearing the crossbar by yards when he had time take a touch...

    Australia 3-0 Honduras (agg 3-0)

Three minutes to be added on.

The match is being played out in ceremonial fashion though,

Mark Milligan applauds the fans behind the bench as the Australia entourage prepare to rush the pitch on the final whistle.

  5. Post update

    Australia 3-0 Honduras (agg 3-0)

There are tears on the Honduras bench. There were only a late, late Costa Rica equaliser away from making the World Cup automatically.

Australia make a final change with James Troisi on in place of Mark Milligan.

  6. GOAL- Australia 3-0 Honduras

    Mile Jedinak

Mile Jedinak drills the ball home to put the matter beyond doubt.

    Australia are heading to Russia.

    Australia 2-0 Honduras (agg 2-0)

Jonny Palacios flattens Robbie Kruse in the box and is fortunate to escape red.

    Up steps Mile Jedinak...

  8. Post update

    Australia 2-0 Honduras (agg 2-0)

Bryan Acosta sends the free-kick sailing high over the bar to relieved cheers from the home fans.

    Time is surely up...

    Australia 2-0 Honduras (agg 2-0)

    This could end pretty ugly.

Mathew Leckie sees yellow for a foul on Alberth Elis, who is immediately on his feet demanding more action.

Mile Jedinak doesn't like that at all. He is soon on the scene, glowering at Elis.

  10. Post update

    Australia 2-0 Honduras (agg 2-0)

The attendance has just popped up on the big screen.

Seventy-seven thousand and sixty fans packing out Stadium Australia.

    Australia 2-0 Honduras (agg 2-0)

Honduras are pushing all their chips onto the table. As they must.

On come Mario Martinez and Eddie Hernandez to try and pull the impossible out of the fire.

Australia try and shut down the contest with Robbie Kruse bringing some fresh legs into the equation, in place of Tommy Rogic.

  12. GOAL - Australia 2-0 Honduras

    Mile Jedinak

    Now the party can start....

Mile Jedinak jogs back into his own half, thumping his fist against his chest.

Coach Ange Postecoglou has his arms aloft on the bench.

Honduras goalkeeper Donis Escober got half a hand to the ball, but Jedinak's penalty had too much pace and was too precise to be stopped...

    Australia 1-0 Honduras (agg 1-0)

A handball in the box by Bryan Acosta and the Socceroos have the chance to put this, surely, to bed.

Who to take? It is going to be Mile Jedinak....

  14. Post update

    Australia 1-0 Honduras (agg 1-0)

    Australia 1-0 Honduras (agg 1-0)

Tim Cahill is going to leave the outcome in the hands of his team-mates.

The 37-year-old, who came back from an injury sustained in the A-League to play in this one, is heading off.

Striker Tomi Juric comes on in his place for Australia.

  16. Post update

    Australia 1-0 Honduras (agg 1-0)

That goal from Mile Jedinak means that this tie will be decided either way ove the next 26 minutes.

There is no chance of extra time and penalties with the away goal in play.

Honduras have to attack though. This Aussie defence has been porous in qualifying, giving up goals to the likes of Thailand in the groups.

    Australia 1-0 Honduras (agg 1-0)

By the way Jorge Claros has gone into the book after a heavy challenge on the Socceroos Aziz Behich.

That is the fourth yellow of the match. With more in the post before the final whistle.

    Australia 1-0 Honduras (agg 1-0)

The best header of the ball....ever?

Inch-for-inch, Tim Cahill would have to be up there.

The Australian meets a cross 15 yards out and contorts himself inside out to direct a looping header up and onto the crossbar with Donis Escober struggling to make up the ground.

That could have been goodnight and goodbye for Honduras.

  19. Post update

    Australia 1-0 Honduras (agg 1-0)

Mile Jedinak's celebrations were pretty low-key.

He knows that the opening goal does not buy the Socceroos much breathing space.

The away goals rule means they are a Hondurian equaliser away from heading out.

  20. GOAL - Australia 1-0 Honduras

    OG Henry Figueroa

Mile Jedinak wins the argument to take the free-kick and puts his laces through it.

His blasted effort is probably heading wide, but gets a giant slice of luck as the ball ricochets off substitute Henry Figueroa to leave the goalkeeper helpless.
