Hitting the showers

Irish Premiership

So wins for Crusaders, Glentoran and Linfield tonight and the Crues lead the league by three points.

Congratulations also to Glenavon on winning the Mid-Ulster Cup tonight, they beat Newry City AFC 3-1 in the final.

Happy Haveron

Glentoran 2-1 Ballinamallard United

We went behind against the run of play I think. I don't think it was a sending-off and if the referee had not blown so quickly James Knowles would have scored into an empty net and we would have taken that. The gaps started to appear and we capitalised on that.

Gary HaveronGlentoran manager

What they said

Glentoran 2-1 Ballinamallard Utd

The Brush red card was very harsh - I thought it was a really, really poor decision. The least we expected coming up here was a fair crack of the whip but the referee had a bad night. The players have been excellent since the New Year and I can't fault them, they defended really well tonight, but the sending-off changed the course of the game.

Gavin DykesBallinamallard manager

This is the captain speaking

Warrenpoint Town 1-3 Linfield

We maybe should have had a couple more but from my point of view it was a professional performance. We started off slowly which sums up our season but we came from behind to win the match which is something we have not been doing. This should be a confidence booster for us to go on a run and win some games. We need to finish as high up that table as we can and third place is probably be a realistic target.

Jamie MulgrewLinfield skipper

What they said

Glentoran 2-1 Ballinamallard Utd

After they had a man sent-off, we had to be patient, keep asking the question and we got what we deserved from the game in the end. We played all the football but our final ball was lacking at times.

Gary HaveronGlentoran manager

Winning words

Carrick Rangers 0-3 Crusaders

Mission accomplished from our point of view in tricky conditions. There was a snow storm while the players were warming up. We made sure we were solid at the back while trying to create chances up front and we managed to do that.
