    Al Jazira 1-2 Real Madrid

Hope you enjoyed that. It might have felt like a low-key game beforehand but Al Jazira made it compelling viewing.

See you on Sunday for the final. Real Madrid versus Gremio.

  2. 'Players worked so hard'

    Al Jazira 1-2 Real Madrid

Al Jazira head coach Henk ten Cate said: "The players worked so hard. I am very pleased and proud of them. Real Madrid were fast and passed the ball very well. But of course they are a big club with some big players. I am proud."

  3. 'Most important thing is the win'

    Al Jazira 1-2 Real Madrid

Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale said: "It is great to get a goal. When you come on you like to make impact like that. The most important thing is to get the win and get into the final.

"I have still got some way to go get back to full fitness. It takes time but I have to be patient an listen to my body. I am working hard on and off the pitch to where I can get."

"Video technology? I don't like it. Football is better without. i am sure people above will make the decision not me."

    Al Jazira 1-2 Real Madrid

A heroic effort from Al Jazira. The team from the UAE can walk away with their heads held high after a brilliant performance. Had their second goal not been disallowed for offside the result may well have been different.

They certainly gave their more illustrious opponents a fright.

For Real Madrid, on to Sunday's final with Gremio. A few training sessions to work on their finishing might be advisable.

  5. Post update

    Al Jazira 1-1 Real Madrid

Al Jazira running empty, and if anything Real look like getting another in injury time.

One last save for Khaled Al-Senani to make from Marco Asensio's free-kick.

  6. Post update

    Al Jazira 1-2 Real Madrid

Three minutes of added time. Al Jazira look spent. They have given absolutely everything.

  7. CLOSE!

    Al Jazira 1-2 Real Madrid

A stunning vertical scissor kick from Gareth Bale on the edge of the box almost increases Real Madrid's advantage in the dying moments but Khaled Al-Senani is able to scramble across goal to keep the ball out.

  8. GOAL Al Jazira 1-2 Real Madrid

    Gareth Bale

    Gareth Bale

An instant impact from the Wales international.

A fine team move sees the ball is cut back by Lucas Vazquez for Bale and his low shot beats Khaled Al-Senani. Cristiano Ronaldo rather cheekily attempts to pinch the goal with a flick of his foot, but it definitely belongs to Bale.

Surely there is no way back fro Al Jazira from here?

    Gareth Bale

    Gareth Bale replaces Karim Benzema.

  10. Post update

    Al Jazira 1-1 Real Madrid

Still backs-to-the-wall stuff from Al Jazira with around 10 minutes to go. Even if they ultimately end up losing this game it will have been a heroic effort to hold Real Madrid for so long.

  11. Post update

    Al Jazira 1-1 Real Madrid

Substitute Marco Asensio the latest to try his hand from distance for Real Madrid with a well-struck curling effort which goes just past the top corner.

At the other end of the pitch Al Jazira hit on the counter attack but Ahmed Rabee is denied a shooting chance as Nacho snuffs out the danger.

Real have had 29 shots in this game - 10 on target. Al Jazira have managed four - with just one, the goal, on target.

    Al Jazira 1-1 Real Madrid

A low cross picks out Karim Benzema but with goal at his mercy the France striker contrives to hit the frame of the goal again. Moments later Cristiano Ronaldo heads inches wide from a corner.

Al Jazira have 20 minutes to take the game to extra time.

    Karim Benzema
  13. Post update

    Al Jazira 1-1 Real Madrid

Real Madrid have been a little cavalier at times here. There have been chances on the counter attack for Al Jazira. Romarinho scampers away but running out of steam he strikes a powerful shot from distance which hits the side netting.

    Al Jazira 1-1 Real Madrid

Karim Benzema creates a shooting chance and strikes the crossbar with a curling effort. Real are turning the screw.

  15. Post update

    Al Jazira 1-1 Real Madrid

A wonderful block from Khaled Al-Senani to deny Karim Benzema at the near post. The replacement goalkeeper will have taken a lot of confidence from that.

Al Jazira goalkeeping coach Manuel Almunia has earned his corn here.

  16. Post update

    Al Jazira 1-1 Real Madrid

Karim Benzema with a daisy cutter which is parried by Khaled Al-Senani. Moments later a teasing ball is sent into the penalty area but nobody in a Real shirt is able to get a touch.

Approaching the hour mark and Al Jazira are like a boxer on the ropes here. Real will surely deliver that knockout blow in the next 30 minutes.

  17. GOAL Al Jazira 1-1 Real Madrid

    Cristiano Ronaldo

    Cristiano Ronaldo

Almost inevitably Khaled Al-Senani's first job is to pick the ball out of the net. A superb through ball from Luka Modric finds Cristiano Ronaldo and the Portugal forward shows his world-class finishing skills as he beats Al Jazira's offside trap and then angles a shot past Al-Senani's despairing dive and into the corner of the net. Clinical.

    Cristiano Ronaldo

    Al Jazira 1-0 Real Madrid

Now this really is a turning point. After a quite brilliant performance injured Ali Khasif cannot continue and is replaced by the mustachioed Khaled Al-Senani.

    Al Jazira 1-0 Real Madrid

Mbark Boussoufa slides the ball home on the counter attack to send the crowd wild. But the goal is chalked off for offside on video replay. Could that prove a turning point in the match?

  20. KICK-OFF

    Al Jazira 1-0 Real Madrid

We are back under way at the Zayed Sports City Stadium, Abu Dhabi.

The good news for Al Jazira is that goalkeeper Ali Khasif is coming back out for the second half. After his heroics in the first half there was no way he was missing this one.

Al Jazira's players all say a prayer on pitch before kick-off. Might take some divine intervention to prevent Real from scoring.
