Mourinho says Real Madrid are "on fire" but not in a good way. Read here.

That came after Zidane admitted Real's situation is a "fiasco". Read here.

And Ross Barkley's Chelsea debut grabbed your attention. Read here.

Brighton boss Chris Hughton says the club's record signing, Jurgen Locadia, won't be fit to play in the FA Cup this weekend but he should be ready in the next few weeks.

"He came with an injury - which we were aware of but we look forward to having him fully fit and in the squad," said Hughton.

Wigan v West Ham (Sat, 15:00 GMT)

West Ham United

West Ham boss David Moyes has been asked if he is keen to bolster his striker options after recent injuries to forwards Manuel Lanzini and Marko Arnautovic.

"Not necessarily forward players, but it made me think I need to get some players," he says.

"It's not that easy, the market is not allowing it, there are lots of clubs who would like our players too. We've never said we want anyone to go."

Lazio fined for anti-Semitic Anne Frank stickers

Serie A side Lazio have been fined 50,000 euros (£43,520) after supporters displayed anti-Semitic Anne Frank stickers last October.

Mario having West Ham medical

Simon Stone

BBC Sport

Joao Mario is having a medical at West Ham this afternoon.

He's due to join West Ham on loan. Mario arrived at Inter to huge acclaim from Sporting Lisbon in August 2016.

However, the £35m Portugal midfielder failed to have the impact expected as he struggled to adjust to the tactical nature of Serie A.

Yeovil Town v Man United (Fri, 19:55GMT)

BBC Sport

Jose Mourinho was in a very good mood at Carrington this lunchtime.

He noticed the change in backdrop before he sat down and then offered a full answer to every question put to him.

Understandably, Mourinho was happy to extol the virtues of Alexis Sanchez.

But I am not too sure Zinedine Zidane will be impressed at Mourinho suggesting Real Madrid are 'on fire'. That is hardly going to help him calm some nervous club officials.

More from Mourinho - Sanchez one of world's best

Yeovil v Man United (Fri, 19:55 GMT)

Manchester United

"I think everybody knows the player he is, I think everybody knows what he did at Arsenal, I try not to speak what he did before in Spain and Italy but in the Premier League he has shown the quality he has.

"We got one of the best attacking players in the world and he's very important for us because we want the best possible players," said Mourinho.

"Alexis changed from a fantastic club to a giant club and Mkhitaryan changed for a fantastic club."

Mourinho also confirmed Sanchez will be in the squad for Friday's game at Yeovil.

I would like to see a Sturridge plus cash deal for Aubameyang plus Lemar as well as Arsene Wengers face if it happened! Although my only concern as a Liverpool supporter is with Salah, Keita, Matip, Mane and potentially Aubameyang is that we would be in trouble when the African cup of nations start!

Fear not Phil as from 2019 the Africa Cup of Nations will be held in June. You can read more here.

Mourinho won't be drawn on Ronaldo, sticks boot into Real

Yeovil Town v Man United (Fri, 19:55 GMT)

Manchester United

Jose Mourinho has been speaking ahead of Manchester United's game at Yeovil tomorrow night.

He wouldn't be drawn on whether he's interested in signing Ronaldo and it looks like he couldn't resist having a little dig at his former employers.

"I think with the moment Real Madrid is having now I think I should be the last one to add some fuel to the fire.

"Madrid is on fire, the results are not good and it's a club where I worked three years," said Mourinho.

"I cared about the club, I am the last one to add fire, Cristiano is the kind of player every manager and club wants but Zidane and Real Madrid, that's my feeling."

Pochettino cautious over defensive duo

Newport County v Tottenham Hotspur (Saturday, 17:30 GMT)

Tottenham Hotspur

Some thoughts from Mauricio Pochettino on whether defenders Toby Alderweireld and Danny Rose could feature at Newport County in the FA Cup this weekend.

"I don't know," he says.

"We need to assess tomorrow. One thing is to be fit to integrate with the team in training - another is to be fit to play, they are two completely different things. We need to care about everyone and take the best decision for the team."

Spurs trio 'progressing well'

Newport County v Tottenham Hotspur (Saturday, 17:30 GMT)

Tottenham Hotspur

We will hear from Mauricio Pochettino shortly but first some Tottenham injury news ahead of Saturday's FA Cup trip to Newport and Serge Aurier, Harry Winks and Erik Lamela are said to be "progressing well" following recent injuries.

Toby Alderweireld, who has not played since damaging his hamstring in the famous win over Real Madrid on 1 November, "continues to step up his integration into first team training."

More on that Newport pitch

Newport County v Tottenham (Sat 17:30 GMT)

Newport manager Michael Flynn is hoping the state of their pitch can help when they face Tottenham on Saturday.

"It's a little bit more lively than usual because there's not as much grass on it now, and I'm hoping they have to take an extra touch that will allow us to get near them.

"I'll be honest, I'm getting more confident as the week goes on," Flynn said.

"You've got to factor in the atmosphere and surroundings - that's the beauty of the FA Cup - and maybe Tottenham won't be playing as strong a squad away as they would have at home.

"We've got to believe we can go and cause an upset, otherwise we might as well just take the money from the ticket sales and give them the tie."

I’d be disappointed if Conte was to go but there are too many players at Chelsea either not playing for their manager, or who just aren’t good enough: Bakayoko, Alonso, Batshuayi, Rudiger, Zappacosta. None of those would get into either Manchester side.

(re 08:51) Why the downer on Barkley from average midfielder at best Jenas? Wasn’t the plan to have him on so early but Chelsea fans all took a positive view seeing that he hadn’t played for several months. He’ll be fine in a couple of weeks. Alonso and Moses are the liabilities, think it’s time to have a break from 5 at the back as it’s lost it’s impact. #nottherealpatnevin

Madrid for once have not been ruthless and have not evolved. It looks to me like they have tried to squeeze 1 more year from this squad. They are stuck pandering to Ronaldo, Bale is injured more than he plays and Benzema has been well below par. Expect a big summer of marque signings and some big names to be shipped out. You would hope ZZ will survive, but Perez does not do sentiment.

Powell said: "She is a player who will bring a wealth of experience, having played at the highest level for Chelsea and Manchester City, as well as for the Republic of Ireland.

“I am very much looking forward to welcoming her into the squad.”

Arsenal have 'unfinished business' with cup - Wenger

Arsenal 2-1 Chelsea

Arsenal are aiming to win a fourth trophy in five years when they face Manchester City in February's League Cup final.

Wenger has seen his side lose two finals in the competition - against Birmingham in 2011 and against Chelsea in 2007.

"It's unfinished business, because we didn't win.

"We want to win it and we will play against a very strong side, so it could become a very interesting game," said Wenger.

"We are out of the FA Cup and so I will focus on the League Cup, and you can see that Manchester City do the same, so it is difficult to win trophies in England."
