  1. Hull hold on for victory

FT: Hull City 1-0 Sheffield United

    Hull City

That's about all we have for you this evening - a night when Hull's victory boosted their chances of survival but dashed Sheffield United's hopes of returning to the top six for now.

If you're just joining us you can also read our match report of this evening's game.

We'll be back with more EFL action from 14:00 GMT tomorrow. Until then, goodbye.

  2. Post-match reaction

FT: Hull City 1-0 Sheffield United

Hull City manager Nigel Adkins told Sky Sports:

"I'm pleased for the players because they've put in another good performance.

"That's seven undefeated at home and they've given everything.

"It was nice for Nouha Dicko to score. It was a nice finish and it will do his confidence the world of good."

  3. Post update

FT: Hull City 1-0 Sheffield United

In what's been a disappointing season for Hull, that's arguably their result of the Championship campaign.

Before this evening they hadn't beaten any team higher than 10th in the table and that three points boosts their chances of avoiding a second successive relegation.

However, it's bad news for another former Premier League side as Sunderland slip to four points adrift of safety.

  4. Post-match reaction

FT: Hull City 1-0 Sheffield United

    Michael Dawson

Hull captain Michael Dawson told Sky Sports:

"We showed commitment and desire and that win was well overdue.

"We've been close in the last three or four games but tonight we got the goal.

"We played some good football at times but it was a tough test because we knew they were going to fight like they do."

  5. Post-match reaction

FT: Hull City 1-0 Sheffield United

Matchwinner Nouha Dicko told Sky Sports:

"It's a massive goal for the team, for the club and for me.

"We really needed those three points and I'm glad tonight we've done the job.

"It's a good victory but we need to keep going."

  6. FULL-TIME Hull City 1-0 Sheffield United

    Hull City

It's all over and the points are Hull City's.

They've shown great spirit and endeavour to win that game against a backdrop of fan protests against the club's owners.

  7. Post update

    Hull City 1-0 Sheffield United

No alarm for Hull in that first 90 seconds of stoppage time.

  8. Post update

    Hull City 1-0 Sheffield United

Hull's defenders do well to repel a Sheffield United free-kick.

There will will three added minutes. Those Hull fans' whistles that were out in protest earlier are now at full volume begging for the final whistle to go.

  9. Post update

    Hull City 1-0 Sheffield United

Chance for Hull to settle this as Fraizer Campbell crosses for Kamil Grosicki, but the Poland international can't get hold of his shot when he should have done better.

Will Hull rue that missed opportunity?

  10. Post update

    Hull City 1-0 Sheffield United

Good defending from Max Clark shepherds George Baldock out of play for a goal-kick, much to the Blades full-back's frustration and he gives the Hull man a shove.

But it takes precious seconds off the clock for Hull.

  11. Post update

    Hull City 1-0 Sheffield United

Five minutes left for Hull to hold on. Five minutes for Sheffield United to find an equaliser.

  12. Post update

    Hull City 1-0 Sheffield United

A second would surely settle it for Hull.

Kamil Grosicki has a pop from distance for the Tigers trying to give them that breathing space but his effort is well over.

  13. SUBSTITUTION

    Hull City 1-0 Sheffield United

Angus MacDonald is let off the hook as John Lundstram heads the corner well wide.

While the ball is out of play Sheffield United make their final change, bringing on striker Clayton Donaldson for defender Chris Basham.

The Blades are going for this.

  14. Post update

    Hull City 1-0 Sheffield United

Into the last 10 minutes as Hull defender Angus MacDonald shanks a clearance and gives away a cheap corner.

  15. SUBSTITUTION

    Hull City 1-0 Sheffield United

The flow of this game is disrupted again by another substitution, which will suit Hull more than Sheffield United.

Evandro goes off for Hull and Kevin Stewart is on.

  16. Hull protests - Your thoughts

    #bbcefl

Jack Walker: Not sure if a protest whilst a game is in motion has ever worked... pointless. Do it before or after the 90 minutes, cameras would still pick it up...

Lewis Stanaway: We know that money becomes increasingly important in football but ultimately the game is for the fans. The Allams have exploited their position in the club and have turned the once adoring city into hatred. No fans means no football, that's the way it is.

  17. SUBSTITUTION

    Hull City 1-0 Sheffield United

Now it's Sheffield United's turn to make a change as midfielder Lee Evans makes way for John Lundstram.

  18. SUBSTITUTION

    Hull City 1-0 Sheffield United

    Nouha Dicko

That's Nouha Dicko's work done for this evening as he is replaced by Fraizer Campbell.

The former Wolves man has worked hard for his side this evening - and has scored what could be a priceless goal for Hull.

  19. Post update

    Hull City 1-0 Sheffield United

Into the last 20 minutes at the KCOM Stadium.

Hull City have dropped 22 points from winning positions this season - can they hold on tonight?

  20. Post update

    Hull City 1-0 Sheffield United

    Hull City

Nouha Dicko is full of confidence and fancies a second, testing Jamal Blackman again with a low shot from 25 yards which the keeper gathers.

But Blackman could do nothing with Dicko's effort above which separates the sides and, as it stands, would take Hull three points clear of the relegation zone.
