Leeds v Wolves (Wed, 19:45 GMT)

Massimo Luongo
Rex Features

The good sides generally won and the poorer teams lost - so results do sometimes go according to the form guide after all!

We're just about done for tonight but tomorrow sees leaders Wolves in action at Leeds, who are yet to hit their straps since Paul Heckingbottom's arrival.

Be sure to join us then but for now, goodbye.

League One & Two round-up

Rochdale's 3-0 win over Walsall was the only game in League One tonight.

There was a clear standout game in League Two as Forest Green continued their resurgence with an entertaining draw at Newport.

Elsewhere David Flitcroft started his reign at Mansfield with a point at home to promotion rivals Lincoln.

  • Accrington 1-0 Morecambe
  • Cheltenham 1-1 Notts County
  • Mansfield 1-1 Lincoln City
  • Newport 3-3 Forest Green

Tuesday's Championship action

BBC Sport

If you're averaging less than a point a game you know you're in trouble.

Of the bottom six only Bolton escaped defeat tonight, meaning they and Reading moved five points clear of Birmingham in 22nd.

QPR, in 16th, will probably feel they've done enough to be safe now but Sheffield Wednesday are not quite out of the woods. Time is running out down the bottom.

Reading 1-1 Bolton

That's the last of the action as the full-time whistle blows. A point apiece, meaning both sides move onto 35 points - one further away from the relegation zone.

Reading 1-1 Bolton

Chris Gunter crosses for Reading's forwards to attack and Mo Barrow and Jon Dadi Bodvarsson do just that.

Andrew Taylor clears off the line for Bolton, with Ben Alnwick beaten.

Tuesday's Championship action

BBC Sport

Remember when we all thought Wolves would walk the title?

Well Cardiff are now just three points behind after beating Barnsley - though the leaders can extend that lead at the top tomorrow night against Leeds.

Elsewhere Fulham have consolidated fourth with their win over Sheffield United and Boro have leapfrogged Bristol City into sixth by beating Birmingham.

Reading 1-1 Bolton

Four minutes of added time. These two are tied on points in the Championship table. Can either side nick a win?

Reading 1-1 Bolton

Anssi Jaakkola keeps out Craig Noone's strike. Bolton are finishing the stronger side at the Madejski.

Reading 1-1 Bolton

Just one game remaining now in the Championship. It's all-square between Reading and Bolton at the moment.

Preston 2-1 Bristol City

Preston move up to eighth, level on points with the Robins thanks to goals from Alan Browne and Sean Maguire. Bristol City drop out of the play-off places into seventh place.

A late red card for Aden Flint rubs salt into the wounds for the away side.

Fulham 3-0 Sheff Utd

It was a formality in the end as two goals from Aleksandar Mitrovic and a Tom Cairney strike give Fulham yet another impressive win.

They're now four points clear of fourth-placed Derby, while Sheffield United are down to ninth.

Hull 1-2 Millwall

Abel Hernandez pulled one back on his return from injury but it's not enough for Hull, who remain three points above the drop zone.

Millwall meanwhile have a fifth victory in a row on the road - quite some turnaround.

QPR 1-1 Derby

The full-time whistle blows at Loftus Road.

Massimo Luongo's header rescues a point for QPR to further dent Derby's play-off ambitions.

Cardiff City 2-1 Barnsley

Cardiff City don't regret the late missed chances. They go three points off leaders Wolves, who play Leeds tomorrow evening.

Barnsley stay two points above the drop zone.

Birmingham 0-1 Middlesbrough

And that's it - Garry Monk loses his first game in charge of Birmingham... against the club he left in December.

It's a sixth loss in a row, while Boro look set to move into the play-offs.

Norwich 0-0 Nottingham Forest

Apologies for the lack of updates from Carrow Road Norwich and Nottingham Forest fans.

But the scoreline says it all. Not a classic.

Birmingham 0-1 Middlesbrough

Sam Gallagher once again gets his head to the set-piece but once again it's off-target.

Birmingham just haven't tested the goalkeeper enough.

Burton Albion 0-2 Brentford

All over at the Pirelli Stadium. Another home loss for Burton.

Birmingham 0-1 Middlesbrough

The hosts have a free-kick in a dangerous area after Jacques Maghoma is fouled...

Sunderland 0-3 Aston Villa

The boos ring around the Stadium of Light.

Sunderland have been outclassed by Aston Villa and stay bottom of the Championship.

Cardiff City 2-1 Barnsley

Nathaniel Mendez-Laing strikes the base of the post for Cardiff!

RED CARD for Bristol City

Preston 2-1 Bristol City

Aden Flint has been sent off in the 91st minute after lashing out.

Sheff Wed 1-2 Ipswich

Martyn Waghorn's brace means Sheffield Wednesday are still looking over their shoulders.

It's now just one win in 10 league games for Jos Luhukay - though sub Lucas Joao did score for the hosts.

Birmingham 0-1 Middlesbrough

Is that Birmingham's final chance?

Sam Gallagher heads at all but it lacks any power and it goes wide of the Boro goal.

Not enough.

Sunderland 0-3 Aston Villa

This game is going through the motions now.

Just a couple of minutes left, plus stoppage time, before Sunderland are put out of their misery.

The only chink of light - all of their relegation rivals are losing as well.

Cardiff City 2-1 Barnsley

Craig Bryson scuffs wide on the break, spurning an excellent chance to wrap up the points for Cardiff.

Five minutes of added time to come.

A precious win for Rochdale

Walsall 0-3 Rochdale

Mihai-Alexandru Dobre has scored his first goal for Rochdale to secure just their second away win of the season.

They will move off the bottom of League One past Bury with this vital win.

GOAL: QPR 1-1 Derby

Massimo Luongo (87 mins)

Massimo Luongo goal

Late equaliser for QPR!

Luke Freeman dinks in a free-kick and Massimo Luongo is left in acres of space to bullet in a header.

Not ideal for Derby on a night when most of their promotion rivals are winning.

Birmingham 0-1 Middlesbrough

What, if anything, do Birmingham have left in the tank?

Stewart Downing misses a chance to double Boro's lead at the back post, while the hosts have struggled to create too much.

A Blues goal would be massive for Garry Monk in more ways than one.

Cardiff City 2-1 Barnsley

Barnsley are seeing lots of the ball and are still pressing for an equaliser.

Neil Etheridge saves from Brad Potts before Kiefer Moore is booked for his challenge on the goalkeeper.

Reading 1-1 Bolton

Craig Noone and Jem Karacan are on for Bolton as they search for an equaliser.

No shocks in the Championship

It's been a bad night for the teams in relegation danger.

The bottom five sides - Sunderland, Burton, Birmingham, Barnsley and Hull - are all losing.

Championship leaders Wolves will be looking over their shoulder too. Cardiff will close the gap to three points if they hold on against Barnsley and Aston Villa are also sniffing around.

Preston 2-1 Bristol City

Wonderful reactions from Declan Rudd. The Preston keeper makes himself big and blocks Bobby Reid's close-range volley from Josh Brownhill's deep cross to keep his side in front.

GOAL: Sheff Wed 1-2 Ipswich

Martyn Waghorn (83 mins)

A gorgeous free kick has the visitors ahead once more.

That strike had some whip on it - Martyn Waghorn gets his second of the game and the Owls are once again in strife.

It didn't look like a obvious place to shoot from but it was some effort, and intentional.

GOAL: Hull 1-2 Millwall

Abel Hernandez (80 mins)

Minutes after coming on for his first appearance since August, Abel Hernandez scores!

False dawn for Hull or could it be a turning point in their season?

Either way it was a predatory finish from close range.

GOAL: Burton Albion 0-2 Brentford

Ollie Watkins (80 mins)

A goal with the first shot on target!

He assisted the first goal and he has scored the second. Ollie Watkins cuts inside from the left-hand side and rolls a scuffed shot into the bottom corner.

Fulham 3-0 Sheff Utd

Aleksandar Mitrovic is unsurprisingly sniffing around for a hat-trick goal, to send yet another message to his parent club Newcastle.

His latest attempt is a volley from 18 yards, but it swerves just wide - I reckon there'll be more attempts to come from the Serbian.

Preston 2-1 Bristol City

Sean Maguire had only been on the pitch for seven minutes when he scored a goal Lee Johnson will be furious about.

As it stands, with Middlesbrough winning at Birmingham, Bristol City are dropping out of the play-offs. Can they rally in the closing stages?

Cardiff City 2-1 Barnsley

Barnsley are pushing for an equaliser and they've brought on Ryan Hedges for Mamadou Thiam in search of a goal.

Fulham 3-0 Sheff Utd

With the result beyond doubt, can the Blades at least be the first visiting side to score at Craven Cottage in five games?

Ched Evans comes close, heading Ricky Holmes' cross wide.
