  1. CLOSE!

    Leicester 0-0 Newcastle

Kenedy's first corner goes behind for another, he then whips it to the front post which Perez nods on - but Schmeichel saves well.

The third delivery half-cleared to Kenedy, who sees his cross headed straight at Schmeichel by Gayle.

    Bright start for the visitors.

  2. Post update

    Leicester 0-0 Newcastle

Inside 15 seconds, Mo Diame concedes a free-kick midway inside the Newcastle half.

It's not the best delivery, though, and the visitors clear before winning a corner at the other end.

    Leicester 0-0 Newcastle

After a wonderfully observed minute's applause for the late Ray Wilkins, today's referee Stuart Attwell has blown his whistle and we are under way at the King Power.

  4. Post update

The two teams are making their way out to the pitch at the King Power.

Leicester are in their familiar all blue home kit, with Newcastle in their iconic black and white stripes.

  5. On the home straight

    Leicester v Newcastle (15:00 BST)

Both sides will be feeling pretty happy with their lot as they hit the home straight.

Leicester have swapped relegation worries for European aspirations since Claude Puel's appointment in October, with the Foxes just three points behind Burnley in the race for seventh place and potential Europa League qualification - and they face the Clarets next weekend.

Rafael Benitez deserves tremendous credit too having guided Newcastle clear of trouble and to within a win of the top half under challenging conditions, with the Magpies' only league losses since the turn of the year coming at Manchester City and Liverpool.

  6. Higher, higher! Lower, lower?

    Leicester v Newcastle (15:00 GMT)

Leicester have the opportunity to rise to seventh in the table if they can beat the Magpies, provided Watford beat Burnley. Regardless of the result, Claude Puel's side will remain in eighth.

A win for the Magpies could take them into the top half of the table on 38 points. But defeat, coupled with unfavourable scorelines elsewhere could take the North-East club down to 14th by the end of the weekend.

So, who will play their cards right today?

Jamie Vardy has scored in eight of his last 10 matches for Leicester in all competitions.

  9. What the managers said...

    Leicester v Newcastle (15:00 GMT)

Leicester manager Claude Puel: "I think they [Newcastle] are clear now. They are safe in the Premier League and that's fantastic for Newcastle.

"They can play with freedom against us. I think he [Rafael Benitez] made a great job all of the season."

Newcastle manager Rafael Benitez: "I have to make sure we do not have any complacency and that everybody is concentrated. It is not done yet. The target is still 40 points and we have to get there.

"I don't think we can relax. If we get 40, we will try to get more, but 40 is still the number. We don't need to talk about anything else."

  10. Lawro's prediction

    Leicester v Newcastle (15:00 GMT)

Leicester City and Newcastle United club crests

The Magpies make themselves difficult to beat away from home but they never look like scoring enough goals for me, which is why I am going for a Foxes win.

    Prediction: 2-0

  11. Team news

    Leicester v Newcastle (15:00 GMT)

    Leicester City graphic

Leicester make two changes to the side that won 2-0 at Brighton last week.

Wilfried Ndidi - who was sent off against the Seagulls - serves the first game of a two match suspension, while Shinji Okazaki drops to the bench.

The pair are replaced by Adrien Silva and Fousseni Diabate.

Rafael Benitez has chosen not to tinker with the side that beat Huddersfield, but Joselu is fit enough for the bench and Mo Diame has shaken off a minor knock.

Newcastle striker Islam Slimani is ineligible to play against his parent club.

  12. A late birthday present?

    Leicester v Newcastle (15:00 GMT)

Hello and welcome along to our live text coverage as Leicester City host Newcastle United in the Premier League.

If like me you're feeling a post-Easter aversion to chocolate, spare a thought for supporters at the King Power, who are being given these chocolate coins to help mark the 60th birthday of Foxes chairman Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha earlier this week...

But with Newcastle only beaten twice in the league since the turn of the year, how sweet will the Europa League hopefuls be feeling at full-time?
