  1. That's all from me...

    Peru 0-1 Denmark

    Missed penalty

Like a finely-tuned relay team we are now handing over to the next live-text service which pits Croatia against Nigeria. Just click here to enjoy it.

And I will bow out of this one and say a big thank you for your company tonight. What a twist in that game. Peru, full of energy and optimism, looked like they'd send their country into ecstasy just before half-time, only to see a Christian Cueva penalty fly over the bar.

They paid, as you so often do at the highest level. There's a joy to being at the World Cup and for many, a pain that comes with it.

But just look at those overjoyed faces in the picture below. Surely any amount of World Cup pain is worth it when you get moments of immense happiness. Well done if you're following Denmark.

So thank you and goodnight from me. Now go follow the two coolest kits in the tournament in the final game of the day.

  2. Happy Father's Day

    Peru 0-1 Denmark

It is of course Father's Day tomorrow and it seems Kasper Schmeichel could write one key stat in his father Peter's card....

    • Schmeichel has kept a clean sheet in his last five appearances for Denmark. He’s gone 534 minutes without conceding at international level, with his last goal shipped coming via the Republic of Ireland’s Shane Duffy in November.
    • Denmark keeper Kasper Schmeichel has already kept one World Cup clean sheet. That's as many in one game as his father Peter achieved in five appearances in the competition.

  3. How they stand

    Peru 0-1 Denmark

I guess you'd say the two teams you expect at the top are at the top.

Is that how it will stay?

    Jermaine Jenas

Former England midfielder on BBC One

I have seen enough creativity to know that Peru will score goals, but it wasn't their day today. In front of goal they didn’t have that clinical edge and I’m not sure they really tested Schmeichel in the way they should have.

There might be tears in Peru tonight, but I also hope there is some pride and positivity in what their team can produce moving forward.

  5. Lonely in his thoughts

    Peru 0-1 Denmark

Football can be a lonely place. Just ask Christian Cueva.

He had 68 touches, that's as many as anyone in the Denmark team. But one touch will define what people remember of him tonight. That missed penalty has left him in a world of contemplation.

    Cueva stands alone
  6. 'Eriksen delivered'

    Peru 0-1 Denmark

    Cesc Fabregas

Chelsea and Spain midfielder on BBC One

We've been asking for Christian Eriksen to show up and he did, setting up the goal. That's what you need from your top players and he delivered.

  7. Slotted home...

    Peru 0-1 Denmark

    Rio Ferdinand

Former England defender on BBC One

Peru gave it a right go. All the creativity came from them and their fans turned up in numbers to support their team. But Denmark were clinical and Poulsen scored with a fantastic finish. That was the difference.

  10. The key moment...

    Peru 0-1 Denmark

This though is the key man in many ways. He performed well, with plenty of guile and endeavour but when he stepped up and missed the first-half penalty, his nation slumped.

  11. Not for the lack of trying...

    Peru 0-1 Denmark

As you can see from these highlights, Peru had a right go late on...

    Peru 0-1 Denmark

Denmark's players hug. The referee doesn't allow Peru to take their throw in. Their race is run.

They have been punished on this grand stage. A penalty missed on the stroke of half-time beat them up and Christian Eriksen helped create the knockout blow in the second period.

  13. Post update

    Peru 0-1 Denmark

Here come Peru again. A throw in near the corner flag...

  14. Peru impressive

    Peru 0-1 Denmark

    Michael O'Neill

Northern Ireland manager on BBC Radio 5 live

Peru have been the better team, I have been impressed with how they played, created some good chances. But they haven't taken them, and missed from the penalty spot.

  15. Post update

    Peru 0-1 Denmark

In comes the corner and Kasper Schmeichel comes off his line and punches clear. It's almost like that kind of thing is in his blood.

Peru come forward and win a corner...

  17. Post update

    Peru 0-1 Denmark

    Kevin Kilbane

Former Republic of Ireland winger on BBC One

Peru have looked impressive and the more attacking side out of the two. But Denmark have managed to cope with them and this will be a great result if they manage to hold out for three points.

  18. Post update

    Peru 0-1 Denmark

Denmark win a corner, exactly what they'd have had on order.
