  1. Post update

Fingers crossed Couchy! Until then, let's enjoy watching Brazil and Mexico battle it out for a place in the quarter-finals this afternoon.

Our live text commentary for the last-16 tie in Samara has now begun. Click here if you want to join in and have your say, and thanks for joining me today.

  2. England's World Cup chances

    #bbcworldcup or text on 81111

Craig: One of these 6 teams (Switzerland, Sweden, Russia, Croatia, Colombia or England) will make it to the final. But all of those nations will believe they can be the ones to make history. We, as fans, are allowed to believe but we cannot expect to be there. The players need to give it everything and see where it takes us. If we get complacent (remember Iceland?) we will get knocked out.

Couchy, Andover: I've a ticket to the final if England get there and I'm really trying not to get too caught up in the hype, but I must admit I started researching flights to Moscow last night. Genuinely believe if we win tomorrow night we'll get there, but that's a very big if as Colombia worry me. Predicted us losing to Colombia on penalties at this stage before the tournament so praying I'm wrong, meaning our/my Moscow dream can continue!

  3. England's World Cup chances

    #bbcworldcup or text on 81111

Matt S: England have as good a chance as anybody, all teams will be thinking it's their best chance in years to win. But to say it's easier to win because the so called big guns are out is a nonsense. If those teams were as good right now as their reputations lead us to believe they'd still be there.

Paul S, Gosport: Imagine England winning the World Cup this year and everyone turning around saying well, we only won it because...

Maciek, Edinburgh: I think Croatia will go far. They were poor yesterday against excellent Denmark and still won. Perseverance in winning on your bad days can carry you in a tournament. Remember how much Germany struggled with Algeria 4 years ago?

  4. Stat of the day?

Thanks to Aaron Elliott for highlighting this on Twitter but Spain's exit almost means that there isn't a single player left in the competition who has won the World Cup, or even played in a World Cup final.

Could we have a new name on the World Cup too?

If England do get knocked out tomorrow then it guarantees at least one of the finalists will have never won the competition before.

  5. Media reaction - Spain 'stupid' and 'negligent'

Can you imagine the media reaction if England do get knocked out tomorrow? How would it compare to this after Spain's exit yesterday?

  6. England's World Cup chances

John: People moaning about the England performance against Belgium need to remember our best players were on the bench. We haven't seen what this England side is capable of playing a half decent team. Let's get behind them!

Hugh Seager: Of course this is a great opportunity for England, an opportunity of a lifetime! However I think we forget that Colombia are no pushovers. It's going to be one tight game.

Ben S: Colombia (with or without James) will be very well supported and driven on by their fans, but I still back England to take it. I think it'll be a classic high-scoring game, 3-2, with Sterling to finally break his drought.

  7. Great goalkeeping moments

    #bbcworldcup or text on 81111

Chris Best: I was a goalkeeper for a local amateur team for a couple of seasons and I faced 3 penalties in one game, 2 of which I conceded in the first place. They scored all 3 and I was taken off before the game was over. I was rubbish and never played again after that.

James, Surrey: Yeovil's Chris Weale going up for a corner and equalising against Hereford Town deep into stoppage time back in 2014.

Pete: Two words...Jimmy Glass! On loan goalkeeper for Carlisle United in 1999 scoring the goal that kept them in the league.

  8. Great goalkeeping moments

    #bbcworldcup or text on 81111

I'm sure Ziggy would make a good keeper, just like these guys...

Ope: The maverick Rene Higuita high risk 'scorpion sting save' in Wembley should equal any great goalkeeping moment!

Tom Goddard:USA 94 final - Gianluca Pagliuca spills a tame effort & looks back in horror only to see it bounce off the post and back into his arms. Coupled with Barry Davies’ brilliant line "the luck of the devil"

Nas, Blackburn: Brad Friedel at Highbury in 2002 as Rovers held on for a 2-1 win. The best goalkeeping display that I can remember. Our goal was under siege for the last 30 minutes but Friedel made some unbelievable saves to deny Thierry Henry and bring home the 3 points.

  9. Brazil upset?

Could Mexico provide the next upset of this year's World Cup? This feline fan isn't leaving anything to chance...

  10. Biggest World Cup shock so far?

    #bbcworldcup or text on 81111

Nicky: Got to be Messi and Ronaldo out of the tournament already. Last 16 stage not even finished yet and they're gone.

Copelandao: Not sure Spain going out was a massive surprise - they were poor in Brazil 2014 and France 2016. They looked pedestrian and uninspired whilst the Russians had impressed early and showed heart to come through and win.

  11. England's World Cup chances

    #bbcworldcup or text on 81111

'Foggy' was a Superbike world champion, but can Gareth Southgate's England squad emulate him in Russia?

Stephen Psallidas: England need to be very careful not to get carried away by the exciting 'route window' to the final. Every other team will be desperate to exploit it too! Work hard and the final is ours - but cockiness comes before a nasty shock!

Royton Saddler: The confidence in our ability and the way we now play should make the boys be chomping at the bit. Lets just work and and trust what Gareth has installed. Come on boys!

Trevor Priestman: Let's believe in our lads to get the job done. Right now they have the best possible run-in I've ever seen an England side have in years. I always say this is our year but now with a great performance tomorrow, and football God's willing, I may actually be right!

  12. Carl Fogarty in the Russian camp?

In other news, a spotter's badge goes to Gary Webster for this spot...

    Carl Fogarty lookalike

And here is the motorcycling legend himself. Uncanny eh?!

  13. Great goalkeeping moments

    #bbcworldcup or text on 81111

And will there be any more goalkeeping heroics to rival these?

Harry Everett: Filled in in goal twice for Tiverton Town & Willand Rovers, 2 clean sheets & including facing the only penalty we conceded all season...my Grobbelaar impression forced him to blast over!

Peter Knight: I saved four out of five penalties in a Sunday league cup game, all with my right knee. Never got my hands near any of them!!

Lewis: Ian Walker's penalty shootout save in the Spurs v Peterborough FA Cup third round replay; that moment where he pinned the ball to the goalpost will live in my mind forever!

Steve: Another shocking surprise, its unbelievable Spain were eliminated at the round of 16. With this trend, it's hard to predict who'll win at Russia 2018. Expect more surprises.

But will any more come today?

  15. Drogba on Lukaku

After being rested against England, Manchester United's Romelu Lukaku is set to come back into Belgium's starting line-up against Japan.

BBC pundit Didier Drogba has said he was 'a boy' when they were together at Chelsea but now Lukaku's a man, scoring four goals already at this summer's World Cup.

  16. Belgium v Japan

    BBC One

Then Belgium face Japan at 19:00 BST, a game which is live on BBC One and BBC Radio 5 live.

  17. Casemiro tells Brazil to heed warning

Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro has said Brazil need to be wary of an upset...and that was before Russia dumped Spain out!

    Casemiro
  18. Brazil v Mexico

    BBC Radio 5 live

Unfortunately Sam, there are two more rest days coming up this week. But let's cross that bridge when we come to it, because first we have four more knockout games, beginning with Brazil against Mexico at 15:00 BST.

You can follow the game on BBC Radio 5 live and there will be live text commentary right here online.

  19. Biggest World Cup shock so far?

    #bbcworldcup or text on 81111

Matt Ash: That Welbeck made the England squad.

Sam: Biggest shock of the World Cup so far...has to be last Friday with no games! Shocking!

  20. Just look at his face!

These were the scenes as Russia reached the quarter-finals. Just imagine if they do a Leicester and go all the way!!
