Palace boss Roy Hodgson and long-time assistant Ray Lewington have been taking it in turns to direct operations from the technical area.

Lewington was present when Andros Townsend missed just then.

Palace have only beaten Fulham and Huddersfield in the Premier League this season. They have not won here in the league since 1989.

    Is that about to change?

    Man Utd 0-0 Crystal Palace

    Simon Stone

    BBC Sport at Old Trafford

Cheers went up from sections of the Old Trafford support when Paul Pogba's number went up as the man to be replaced for Alexis Sanchez just then.

Pogba has not had the greatest game by any means but he is a big player and United are in need of a big last 20 minutes.

Alexis Sanchez has been a big disappointment at United. It would be a good time to change that. He is one of four strikers on for the hosts now.

    Man Utd 0-0 Crystal Palace

    Simon Stone

    BBC Sport at Old Trafford

You would think this was made for Alexis Sanchez, prising open an obdurate defence.

But the Chilean remains on the sideline warming up as Marcus Rashford and Marouane Fellaini are introduced to inject some life into the hosts.

    More frustration for home fans!
