  3. 'Something fundamentally wrong'

    Man Utd 0-0 Valencia

    Dion Dublin

Ex-Man Utd striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

Looking at their body language a few players aren’t playing for the manager. I hate to call out players but its Man Utd, It’s a Champions League night, you’re at home against Valencia and you cannot put a performance in like that. I’m frustrated. There’s something fundamentally wrong with the balance and togetherness of this football club behind the scenes.

Tom: RE:Francis @ 22.15. How long is this transition exactly? This is the sixth season since Ferguson and third under Mourinho. Man Utd fans don't think they have the right to win every game, we just expect results and performances to improve over time

John Le Wire, Warrington: Man Utd were in transition when Fergie left, now they're in a transition within a transition. United fans really didn't know how good they had it.

  5. Post update

    FT: Man Utd 0-0 Valencia

Owen Hargreaves on BT Sport: "Rashford was the best United atttacker on the pitch tonight. He really tried and that's what you want from your players especially the young ones."

  6. '75 minutes to get to ground'

    Man Utd 0-0 Valencia

    Gary Flintoff

BBC Radio 5 live reporter at Old Trafford

Jose Mourinho in his post-match press conference: “Police refused to do an escort and we took 75 minutes to get from the Lowry Hotel.”

  7. Post update

    CSKA Moscow 1-0 Real Madrid

Real Madrid have failed to score in three consecutive games for the first time since January 2007 under Fabio Capello.

They failed to score in a Champions League game for the first time since April 2016 against Man City, ending a run 29 consecutive matches.

  8. 'We don't have the technical quality'

    Man Utd 0-0 Valencia

    Manchester United

Man Utd boss Jose Mourinho speaking to BT Sport: "We had probably a couple of the biggest chances to win it but I have accepted the result as a fair result. I said in pre-season last season was phenomenal to finish second. And I don't say more than that.

"The players tried. They raised the level of their efforts. They raised the level of their intensity in spite of the fact we don't have many with that intensity. We don't have the technical quality to build from the back.

"We tried to do something we did well which was to stop a fast team on the counter attack. We knew we wouldn't create 20 chances. Our attacking players aren't in their best moments of confidence and individual level. We thought with three or four chances we would score and win the game.

"It is a not a bad result. Not a good result, but not bad. We have two matches against Juventus to make points. It is a very difficult group, yes.

"We have Newcastle before the league stops then we have Chelsea and Juventus in three days. It will be good for the team if we can beat Newcastle."

  9. 'The fans wanted more'

    Man Utd 0-0 Valencia

    Dion Dublin

Ex-Man Utd striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

I was disappointed by Man Utd tonight. I wanted more, the fans wanted more; they left after 70 minutes and I don’t blame them. I wanted to see more endeavour, work rate and organisation. I saw it for 15-20 minutes but Valencia stood firm. At the moment I don’t see enough Man Utd players really digging deep and taking the game by the scruff of the neck and making something happen. I haven’t seen that for a while now and it’s really frustrating.

  10. Post update

    Gary Flintoff

BBC Radio 5 live reporter at Old Trafford

Jose Mourinho in his post-match press conference: “I think there are things that are difficult for me to say. I think you have enough reasons to criticise me.”

    Man Utd 0-0 Valencia

    Gary Flintoff

BBC Radio 5 live reporter at Old Trafford

The press conference room is packed at Old Trafford waiting for the Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho to arrive. How will he assess that performance and result?

  13. 'Dressing room is united'

    Man Utd 0-0 Valencia

    Manchester United

Manchester United defender Chris Smalling on BT Sport: "We grew in the second half, you can tell we're disappointed we didn't get the goal we deserved in the second half.

"You're just after anything, We couldn't get the goal and we're disappointed.

"We have to stand tall. We're going through a tough patch and we're the only ones who can turn it around.

"The dressing room is united. We're sticking together to make sure we turn it around.

"We're talented players and it is that confidence, mentally it is tough, we know how important the home games are but we turn our head's to Saturday now."

  14. 'Something needs to be said'

    Man Utd 0-0 Valencia

    Dion Dublin

Ex-Man Utd striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

Jose Mourinho is a great manager and I think he could still be the man for Man Utd. But there has to be something dramatically said to make the players, management and staff be in harmony again because at the moment the only people getting the raw end of the deal are the fans.

  15. Odds on for Mourinho to go, and Zidane to take over

    FT: Man Utd 0-0 Valencia

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has been cut to odds-on (4-5) to be the first Premier League manager sacked, and Zinedine Zidane (8-11) is also odds-on to take over, according to Oddschecker.

Pasha: Embarrassing to be a Man Utd fan at the moment. Slow, unimaginative, predictable football. No one's playing for the team. Something needs to change ASAP!!!

Francis: Jose is a problem and the players are a problem. But seriously, fans are a problem too. Just because you're Utd doesn't give you the right to win every game. You're in transition, get over it.

Richard: That was, without doubt, the worst Man Utd performance I have seen since Saturday.

  17. Post update

    Not a good feeling.

  18. Post update

    FT: Man Utd 0-0 Valencia

Rio Ferdinand on BT Sport: "After the current form United are in it's difficult to expect them to get a result out of that. It's a draw at home, they'd of liked a win obviously but Mourinho will be happy with that."
