  1. 'It wasn't enough'

    Man Utd 0-1 Barcelona

    Dion Dublin

Ex-United striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

Disappointment, but Barca have taught United how to play the game, be patient and move. It was a good solid, team performance from the boys in the luminous kits.

Fits and starts for United. They got into the game after 25 minutes, but it wasn't enough. They have to do more on big nights like this.

With Barca, when they had the ball they had three or four options, United had to look three or four times before they could pass.

  2. 'Barca hurt Man Utd'

    Man Utd 0-1 Barcelona

    Dion Dublin

Ex-United striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

It was a bit dead, there were 75,000, 76,000 here tonight but all I heard was the Barca fans. There were no United players that you felt were unlucky to be on the losing side.

Barca do the simple things very well. United didn’t have the ball for long periods, and when Barca had it they hurt them.

  3. Another mountain to climb

    Man Utd 0-1 Barcelona

    Barcelona goal

Manchester United have another huge Champions League task on their hands after losing at home to Barcelona.

Luke Shaw's own goal was decisive in a tight game - Barca controlled possession but there were few clear-cut chances on show at either end.

Read the match report here and I'll leave you with the the thoughts of Dion Dublin.

  4. 'We can score there'

    Man Utd 0-1 Barcelona

    Manchester United

    Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on BT Sport: "Scott McTominay was fantastic. Every time he plays for us he is improving. He's a great athlete, wins his challenges and quick on his feet. He started settling us to be fair.

"We played a good team. We know you have to defend a lot without the ball and you might be tired when you get the chance yourself. We go there with one thing in my mind, we have to score.

"We did as well as we could against Messi, kept our shape well. It could have gone both ways. I don't think we hit the target and that's a disappointment. We go there with work to be done but chances.

"We're playing against a great team. It's a tough one, we'll go there with the knowledge we can score over there."

  5. 'As tired as the stadium'

    Man Utd 0-1 Barcelona

    Guillem Balague

Spanish football journalist on BBC Radio 5 live

    Old TRafford

This is what United are at the moment. The Spanish journalists were saying the stadium looks old, and tired, and the team is the same. It needs a coat of paint, and to rebuild.

Barca didn’t attack with venom, after the goal it was a matter of conserving energy. Messi is carrying a groin injury and needs rest, but he won’t get it unless the games are like today when he was ‘actively resting’.

  6. 'Ronaldo always steps up'

    Ajax 1-1 Juventus

    Dion Dublin

Ex-United striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

    Cristiano ROnaldo

It seems like he always turns up on the pitch when it is needed, he does something that gets his team over the line, that makes his team believe.

  7. Grounds under the hammer

If we're agreed that Old Trafford needs a bit of a lick of paint, the BBC are missing a trick aren't we?

  8. 'We're still in this tie'

    Man Utd 0-1 Barcelona

    Manchester United

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on BT Sport: "Plusses and negatives. We started sloppy and a bit nervous. After their goal we settled and played well.

"We had very good individual performances in midfield. At times it felt like a proper Man Utd team, the crowd were behind us, we got out wide and got crosses in.

"We didn't start great, but great goal and movement from Messi and Suarez but they're fortunate it comes off Luke Shaw. It's a blow but we settled well. We're still in this tie."

Matt Ryan: Guillem Balague’s got some nerve calling Old Trafford scruffy and tired.... The Nou Camp may be a cathedral but it’s also a dump... scruffy pebble dash outside and seats that don’t even match colours inside.

Guillem doesn't live there you know!

  10. 'City will be flying'

    Dion Dublin

Ex-United striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

You can’t stay in a flat spot, the games come thick and fast and you have to be on it. City will be ready, the manager will have them flying. It’s going to be interesting.

  12. 'City-Spurs on a knife-edge'

    Guillem Balague

Spanish football journalist on BBC Radio 5 live

The one tie in the balance is City-Spurs. You cannot take a breath in the next week, this is the key moment of the season when everything matters. I think this will prove where City have one of the best squads in England, and one of the best teams in Europe.

  13. Be there to miss them

    Man Utd 0-1 Barcelona

    Luis Suarez

Luis Suarez has had more shots without finding the net than any other player in the Champions League this season (33).

  14. 'Ronaldo always steps up'

    Ajax 1-1 Juventus

    Dion Dublin

Ex-United striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

    Cristiano ROnaldo

It seems like he always turns up on the pitch when it is needed, he does something that gets his team over the line, that makes his team believe.

  15. Cristiano walks among us

    Ajax 1-1 Juventus

    Guillem Balague

Spanish football journalist on BBC Radio 5 live

In Turin, hearing anybody talk about Cristiano it’s like God has landed on Earth. He can do no wrong.

  16. Post update

    Ajax 1-1 Juventus

If you can watch this Ajax team in the second leg - do. They are great to watch.

Sy: As a United fan I couldn't stand watching us being disappointing I switched on to the pure entertainment by Ajax....that team is magical

  18. "It was special to come here"

    Man Utd 0-1 Barcelona

    Pique

Former United defender Gerard Pique: "After seeing the PSG game, you do not have to trust the result, they came in Paris with a better result and look what happened, big clubs can do these things, you have to work it out.

"It was special to come here after so many years, we are defensively at the best moment of the season, I feel comfortable, very well because of my age and experience."

Bizarre 2013: How Ashley Young continues to be first choice for United is beyond me, the fact that he also had a contract extension makes the mind boggle even more. Great example of why United will not win anything anytime soon

Seth: Seriously, Pogba was non-existent and nearly cost us with that unnecessary free-kick which Messi nearly scored. Real Madrid should come for him but with good money. He lacks concentration and consistency!

  20. Post update

    Man Utd 0-1 Barcelona

    Guillem Balague

Spanish football journalist on BBC Radio 5 live

It's not just the personnel, Solskjaer will have to change how the players think.
