  1. Goodbye

As you were at the beginning of gameweek 10, Manchester City top of the Premier League table.

Have a read of Phil McNulty's report

We are back on Tuesday for Carabao Cup action.

    Until then.

  2. 'I feel very proud'

    Tottenham 0-1 Man City

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottneham manager Mauricio Pochettino on Erik Lamela's missed chance: "When the ball was going to Erik I said 'goal' but no, watching the replay, the ball just bounced before his boot and that is why he missed

"I think it was a great game in difficult circumstances. I feel very proud. The effort was fantastic and we competed really really well. It is a shame we conceded after five minutes but the team was good. I am happy with the performance."

On the goal conceded by his team: "Very poor. It is clear it is our mistake. We conceded a very cheap goal. In the big games, this type of action, you can not concede a goal like we conceded today.

"It was very competitive. It was a great game. We lost the game but I think playing Man City, they suffered the most (they have this season)."

  3. Mahrez 'focused and did a great job'

    Tottenham 0-1 Man City

    Manchester City

More from the Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola speaking to Sky Sports:

"It was a big satisfaction [to win] - the way we played, [with] the skinny and small guys to see how clever they are to win the balls

"Of course Tottenham have quality and a better pitch would also suit them."

    On the pitch:

"It’s a question for the Premier League and Tottenham. We were invited to come here today for the fixture hopefully they can solve that problem."

    On Mahrez:

"He’s playing at a high levels scoring goals and making a lot of assists. He’s a guy who doesn’t lose the ball and gives us everything he gives us in that extra pass.

"Of course he knew the [Leicester] owner and for all the Leicester family it's tough and complicated because a lot of people passed away. Here though, he did really good, he was focused and did a great job."

  4. 'A complicated pitch'

    Tottenham 0-1 Man City

    Manchester City

More from Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola speaking to Sky Sports:

"We missed a lot. You cannot expect against Tottenham to score a lot of goals, the pitch was complicated and we played against a physical team - with [Mousa] Dembele, [Davinson] Sanchez, [Toby] Alderweireld, [Eric] Dier - incredible physicality and the pitch was so complicated, it was so difficult.

"In the first 15-20 minutes of the second-half we should have the game over and the big events, like the Champions League, if we are not more clinical, sooner or later we are not going to win."

  5. 'Not football conditions'

    FT: Tottenham 0-1 Man City

    Manchester City

Man City manager Pep Guardiola, speaking to BBC Sport: "It was a great victory in special conditions, against one of the most physical teams in Europe. We had many chances. We have to score and we didn’t. That is why hopefully we will improve in the future.

"It was not football conditions to play. We reacted well. For our players and the players of Tottenham, hopefully they will sort the problem for the future."

  6. 'Grim Tottenham'

    Tottenham 0-1 Man City

    Jonathan Northcroft

Sunday Times football correspondent at Wembley on 5 live Sport

There was something grim about watching Tottenham tonight. They were supposed to be in their shiny new stadium by now and should be progressing by now.

There will be a feeling of real anti-climax among the Spurs supporters. This was the month they were supposed to be in the gleaming new White Hart Lane.

  7. 'Pitch was not good'

    Tottenham 0-1 Man City

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham defender Toby Alderweireld speaking to Sky Sports:

"I think we deserved more, we worked very hard, and we had a good opportunity but unfortunately we missed it so it’s frustrating.

"You don’t want to concede early against Man City but our response was good though and I thought we deserved more, as I've said.

"Harry Kane went through one on one with the goalkeeper and with a bit more luck there we could score and the game changes.

"I have to be honest, the pitch wasn’t good. Both teams like to play out from the back and to play football in these circumstances, it was very difficult."

  8. City slickers

    Tottenham 0-1 Man City

    • Man City winger Riyad Mahrez has been involved in five goals in his last three Premier League appearances against Tottenham (3 goals, 2 assists).
    • Manchester City remain unbeaten in the Premier League when Aymeric Laporte has featured (P19 W17 D2).
  9. Spurs not any closer to the title

    Tottenham 0-1 Man City

    Jonathan Northcroft

Sunday Times football correspondent on BBC Radio 5 live

It is a strange one, a lot of the mood has been set by manager Maurico Pochettino's discontent in the build-up.

It was a scruffy game on a scruffy pitch, Spurs worried Man City and could have got an equaliser.

The bottom line is they have played the two top teams in the league and do not look any closer to the title.

  10. Miserly City

    Tottenham 0-1 Man City

    • Manchester City have conceded just three goals in their first 10 Premier League games this season – in top-flight history, only one team have conceded fewer in their first 10 games of a season (Chelsea in 2004-05, two conceded).
    • Ederson has kept a clean sheet in each of his last six Premier League starts for Man City – he’s the first goalkeeper to achieve this feat since Thibaut Courtois in November 2016 for Chelsea.
  11. 'A difficult situation for me'

    FT: Tottenham 0-1 Man City

    Manchester City

Man City goal scorer Riyad Mahrez has been speaking to Sky Sports. The winger says it was "difficult" to play tonight after the death of Leicester owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha. Mahrez won the title with Leicester in 2016 and spent four-and-a-half years at the club before joining City.

Mahrez told Sky Sports: "It has been very, very difficult for me. It is not easy to have this type of stuff. The Boss was very special to me. I spent four and a half years there and have many memories with him. He was such a good person.

"I am very, very sad. That is why when I scored I put my hands in the sky for him. He did a lot for me and Leicester and it is difficult to speak about. It it is very sad.

"He was like a dad. He was very special. He was such a good person, a big heart and it was heart-breaking and shocking for me to hear this news and for all of the other people who died with him. It is a difficult situation. I am with Leicester and the family of the victims.

"I always wanted to play. I know he would have wanted me to play. He was passionate about football. It was difficult (to play against Tottenham) but I kept thinking about him. It was difficult to sleep as well."

  12. Top dogs

    Tottenham 0-1 Man City

This is the third time more than two teams have remained unbeaten in their opening 10 matches of the same top flight season, after 1978-79 (Livepool, Everton and Nottingham Forest) and 1990-91 (Liverpool, Arsenal, Spurs, Crystal Palace).

  13. Spurs miles off

    Tottenham 0-1 Man City

    Chris Sutton

Ex-Premier League striker on BBC Radio 5 live

This isn't a confident Tottenham side. It is just not clicking.

If Spurs go out of the League Cup in midweek with a limp against West Ham, there will be more questions asked.

Do this team look like pushing for the title? They look miles off.

  14. Post update

    Tottenham 0-1 Man City

You can sense how huge a victory this is for Manchester City against one of their title rivals as boss Pep Guardiola has massive grin on his face and is hugging each player as they make they way off the pitch.

  15. 'City will take some stopping'

    Tottenham 0-1 Man City

    Chris Sutton

Ex-Premier League striker on BBC Radio 5 live

This is why City will take some shifting. It was a big win for them. They took the chance early. That chance from Erik Lamela was the big opportunity.

It is a big three points for City.

    Tottenham 0-1 Man City

Riyad Mahrez's early goal is enough to take unbeaten Manchester City back to the top of the Premier League.

Three points ground out by Pep Guardiola's side.

  17. Post update

    Tottenham 0-1 Man City

....the corner is headed away by a towering Vincent Kompany.

    All over.

  18. Post update

    Tottenham 0-1 Man City

Christian Eriksen swings in the corner...

  19. Post update

    Tottenham 0-1 Man City

    What is Kyle Walker doing?!

  20. Post update

    Tottenham 0-1 Man City

Into the fifth minute of added time.

    Play goes on.

OMG, Kyle Walker heads the ball towards his own goal and away for a corner.

    It nearly went in.
