  1. That's all folks

    Poland 0-1 Italy

That's it from us for tonight.

We had to wait a long time but we got our goal in the end.

Joy for Italy, despair for Poland and a cup of tea for me once I've signed off, which I am going to do right..... now.

  2. Post update

    Poland 0-1 Italy

Roberto Mancini claimed before this game that he didn't care about the Nations League. Judging by the celebrations that greeted Italy's winning goal I think he cares more than he lets on.

  3. Post update

    Poland 0-1 Italy

So, that result leaves Italy two points behind Group A leaders Portugal, who are top on six points.

Poland are bottom with one point - a tally that relegates them to Group B for the next Nations League.

Italy play Portugal next so technically could catch them.

  4. FULL-TIME

    Poland 0-1 Italy

The win is no less than Italy deserve for their dominance. To come in such circumstances, though, is particularly dramatic and somewhat cruel on Poland, who were better in the second half than they were in the first.

  5. GOAL - Poland 0-1 Italy

    Cristiano Biraghi

    Can you believe it?!

They've missed chance after chance and looked set for a draw and now Italy have only gone and won this at the death.

A corner from the right is flicked on by the diving Kevin Lasagna and steered in at the far post by the sliding Cristiano Biraghi.

What a time to score your first goal for your country.

There are blue-shirted men going wild everywhere.

    Italy celebrate
  6. Post update

    Poland 0-0 Italy

Last chance? Kamil Glik fires in a low angled shot from inside the box following a free-kick but Gianluigi Donnarumma is right behind it.

  7. Post update

    Poland 0-0 Italy

Italy are the team doing most of the looking for a winner, as they have been for much of this game. Poland are in no mood to give up a point at this late stage, though. Home box is very well guarded.

  8. Post update

    Poland 0-0 Italy

Artur Jedrzejczyk replaces Arkadiusz Reca. Like for like at full-back.

  9. Post update

    Poland 0-0 Italy

Lasagna's first contribution to the game is to be caught offside as he charges into the box to collect a pass.

A goal now is surely the winner.

  10. Post update

    Poland 0-0 Italy

A second Italian change. On comes Cristiano Piccini, off goes Alessandro Florenzi.

  11. SUBSTITUTION

    Poland 0-0 Italy

Italy's first change sees Federico Bernardeschi replaced by Kevin Lasagna. Great name. He's Garfield's favourite player.

  12. Post update

    Poland 0-0 Italy

If this was a rugby game, we'd have loads of points on the board. Federico Bernardeschi is the latest man to fire a shot over the bar for a well-taken three points.

Sadly, being football, it is just another poor miss.

  13. Post update

    Poland 0-0 Italy

It's catching. Poland miss two glorious chances to lead in this game.

Kamil Grosicki is put clean through by Lewandowski but takes his shot early and puts it too close to Donnarumma, who saves. The attack continues, though, through Arkadiusz Milik, who brings the free ball down before curling a shot over.

My word, we've seen some schoolboy finishing tonight.

    Gianluigi Donnarumma
  14. Post update

    Poland 0-0 Italy

Italy are painfully short of a decent striker. They should be out of sight by now. Way out of sight.

Federico Bernardeschi is the latest to lay bare their shortcomings with a header that floats awfully wide after he had been found completely unmarked by a floated chip into the box.

They've played well tonight but have come up really short in the actual putting the ball in the back of the net bit.

  15. Post update

    Poland 0-0 Italy

Jorginho is the Gepetto of this Italian side, pulling all the strings. His floated pass over the top to Federico Bernardeschi is brilliant, but the forward can't bring it down quickly enough to get off a worthwhile shot.

  16. Post update

    Poland 0-0 Italy

Ball is in the net for Italy, but the goal won't count. You almost wish it could, though, because it comes from a truly brilliant passing move that sweeps across the field before focusing through the middle and is only spoiled by a forward pass from Verratti to Insigne, who is offside in the box.

  17. Post update

    Poland 0-0 Italy

Poland are edging into this game now. Lewandowski sends Grosicki charging down the right and while his cross has Donnarumma diving there is no other home player around to finish.

    Robert Lewandowski reacts
  18. Post update

    Poland 0-0 Italy

Down the other end and Italy should probably have scored.

Cristiano Biraghi is well-placed on the far side of the box as a cross from the right flies through everyone, but he slices his volleyed shot wide of goal.

Minutes later, Italy come again and Insigne's is deflected wide for a corner that the away side are unable to use to their advantage.

  19. Post update

    Poland 0-0 Italy

    Poland should be ahead.

Kamil Grosicki gets in behind the Italian defence to gather a long ball into the box and fire a low shot that Gianluigi Donnarumma does really well to save.

Italy fail to properly clear and fortunate to see Piotr Zielinski fire a shot from the edge of the box over the bar.
