  1. And that's a wrap

    full-time

Plenty to talk about then in the Sheffield pubs and clubs after that one then.

Maybe not the goals, but some brave resistance by Wednesday to frustrate their neighbours.

An engaging start to another weekend of Championship action, we'll be back with a full programme of Saturday fixtures from 14:30 GMT tomorrow.

    Until then....

  2. Read all about it

So no goals but plenty of talking points.

You can read our developing match report from a lively Friday night at Bramall Lane where Cameron Dawson will take the headlines for sure.

David McGoldrick might want to look away once again....

  3. Blades up to second

FT: Sheffield United 0-0 Sheffield Wednesday

Here's confirmation of what the top of the Championship table looks like after that result at Bramall Lane.

Sheffield United miss the chance to go back to the top of the table, but they do climb above Norwich into second on goal difference.

    Top of the Championship
  4. FULL-TIME REACTION

FT: Sheffield United 0-0 Sheffield Wednesday

    Dawson

Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper Cameron Dawson on Sky Sports:

"It was a massive moment that penalty save and absolutely huge to do it in front of our own supporters.

"We dug in there and fought right until the end and it's a huge credit to everyone really."

  5. FULL-TIME REACTION

FT: Sheffield United 0-0 Sheffield Wednesday

Sheffield United striker Billy Sharp on Sky Sports:

"I thought we were the better team throughout the game. We got the penalty, a great chance, but after that, we just couldn't break them down.

"I should've put that header away at the end. I thought I got enough on it, but then I saw it just sail past the post."

  6. FULL-TIME

    Sheffield United 0-0 Sheffield Wednesday

    Sheffield United v Sheffield Wednesday

Oliver Norwood's free-kick once again but Cameron Dawson is there to palm it away.

There goes Andy Madley's whistle and against all odds, Wednesday have kept their first clean sheet of the season.

Sheffield United miss their chance to go back to the Championship summit.

  7. Post update

    Sheffield United 0-0 Sheffield Wednesday

Last knockings now and Wednesday concede a free-kick on the edge of their own box after another foul on Leon Clarke.

  8. Post update

    Sheffield United 0-0 Sheffield Wednesday

Corner Sheffield United. Can they nick it?

Glorious chance for Billy Sharp from a great delivery but his header goes inches wide right of the Wednesday goal!

    Hands on heads all round...

  9. INJURY TIME

    Sheffield United 0-0 Sheffield Wednesday

    Three minutes added on.

Anyone fancy being a derby hero?

  10. Post update

    Sheffield United 0-0 Sheffield Wednesday

Wasted free-kick form Oliver Norwood goes behind for a Wednesday goal kick.

The last real chance gone for Blades?

  11. YELLOW CARD

    Sheffield United 0-0 Sheffield Wednesday

Wednesday have had easily their best moments coming forward in this closing quarter of the game but the telling ball from a set piece just hasn't been there.

But, they're inching closer to coming away with a hard-fought point here.

Michael Hector sees yellow as he tugs on Leon Clarke's shirt too keenly.

  12. YELLOW CARD

    Sheffield United 0-0 Sheffield Wednesday

    Sheff Utd v Sheff Wed

Mark Duffy has a run and then a shot on goal for United but that's comfortable for Cameron Dawson in Wednesday's goal.

Wednesday midfielder Ashley Baker is booked though for an earlier challenge on John Fleck in that build-up.

  13. Post update

    Sheffield United 0-0 Sheffield Wednesday

    Can Wednesday hold on?

Some very brave stretching tackles at the back as they snuff out any chance Sheffield United have on the break. Barry Bannan has been running like a terrier in midfield for the visitors.

Last five minutes on the way.

  14. PENALTY APPEAL

    Sheffield United 0-0 Sheffield Wednesday

Half a penalty appeal by Wednesday as the ball smashes into Chris Basham on the edge of the box. Ball to hand if ever I've seen it.

Into the last 10 minutes and still Wednesday hold on at 0-0.

  15. Post update

    Sheffield United 0-0 Sheffield Wednesday

Leon Clarke nearly plays a pivotal role immediately after coming on but United's attempts to weave their way between Wednesday's defence are snaffled out.

Wednesday counter and nearly profit with a chance for Ashley Baker, but it's just out of his reach as a cross is headed behind by United for a corner.

The Owls can't make anything of that though. First chance for Wednesday off the bench as Marco Matias replaces Matthew Penney.

  16. SUBSTITUTION

    Sheffield United 0-0 Sheffield Wednesday

    David McGoldrick

John Egan nearly gets the telling touch at the near post on a Sheffield United corner.

Not enough though to muscle it towards goal and once more, Wednesday get it clear.

First change of the night and off goes David McGoldrick, who saw his first-half penalty saved, to be replaced by former Owl Leon Clarke for the hosts.

  17. Post update

    Sheffield United 0-0 Sheffield Wednesday

A rare corner to Sheffield Wednesday as Steven Fletcher makes a nuisance of himself in the United area.

But nothing comes from that set piece for the Owls and Blades can break away again in search of that elusive opener.

  18. YELLOW CARD

    Sheffield United 0-0 Sheffield Wednesday

Have to say this is disciplined defending from Wednesday but how long can it continue?

Barry Bannan is in the book though for a rash challenge on Enda Stevens which Andy Madley says was one too many for him to let go unpunished.

  19. Post update

    Sheffield United 0-0 Sheffield Wednesday

Former Blades Harry Maguire, Kyle Walker and Phil Jagielka all spotted in the Bramall Lane crowd by the television cameras.

All products of the Sheffield United academy, I wonder what they're making of their old club's chances in this one.

Again more stand-off stuff from Wednesday continues.

  20. Post update

    Sheffield United 0-0 Sheffield Wednesday

Cagey stuff for the first real time in this match as both sides actually cancel themselves out.

Still Wednesday having to do most of the work off the ball though with very little outlet coming forward when they do get a rare spell on it.
