  3. 'It gets that pressure off us' - Gerrard

    FT: Hamilton Accies 1-4 Rangers

Regarding a first away win in the Premiership this season, Steven Gerrard told Rangers TV: "It gets that pressure off us.

"People are talking before the game, we haven't won away this season [in the league] but we've deserved to win away.

"I knew and had the confidence that it was only a matter of time. We go to St Mirren next and it's another opportunity for us to go and build on this performance."

  4. 'We've played better' - Gerrard

    FT: Hamilton Accies 1-4 Rangers

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard on Rangers TV: "I'm not too pleased with the display. I thought we were average today at best.

"But in terms of the result I'm very pleased. It's three points from us and we carry on the momentum from before the international break.

"If you take into consideration that it's after international players have had some time off. It's a tricky environment with the plastic pitch.

"I'm pleased with the players, the way they stayed and showed character at 1-1 to go and win the game.

    "But we've played better..."

  5. Penny for your thoughts?

    FT: Hamilton Accies 1-4 Rangers

Martin Canning thinks penalty decisions were pivotal in deciding the outcome of the match, including one that got away for his own side.

"I thought the one in the first half on Mickel Miller was a penalty," the Accies boss tells BBC Scotland. "Anywhere else on the park, it is 100% a free-kick - why in the box is it not a penalty?"

Alex Penny gave away two penalties shortly after Accies' equaliser.

"The hand ball I think is harsh," Canning suggests. "I think it hits his shoulder first and then it hits his arm - I don't think he puts his arm out to stop it in a deliberate movement.

"The second one's a penalty. Morelos is going away from goal and he's just got to give him a yard. If you get too close, any half-decent striker's going to slow down and then go down.

"Alex'll be sore tonight, but other than that, in the game, he was very good. It's part of your learning development as a young centre-back."

  6. 'Hard day' for Hamilton - Canning

    FT: Hamilton Accies 1-4 Rangers

Hamilton manager Martin Canning could not believe the scoreline after coming back to equalise against Rangers.

"We asked for a reaction from the Hibs game [6-0 loss earlier this month], where we didn't compete well enough, and I think we competed well all over the park," he tells BBC Scotland.

"Our shape was good, I thought we caused Rangers problems and I'm actually standing here thinking we could have won the game on chances created.

    Hamilton manager Martin Canning
Image caption: Martin Canning said it was "a hard day for the boys"

"Decision-making probably ultimately cost us the game as we didn't make the right choices going forward and they did.

"It is a hard day for the boys because they put in so much effort and to get nothing from it is a real blow."

  7. 'It was never a 4-1'

    FT: Hamilton Accies 1-4 Rangers

    Billy Dodds

    Former Scotland striker on Sportsound

"You knew by Alex Penny's reaction right away; he just whipped his shirt over his head.He got himself into a good position but [for the cross] he shouldn't go down with his arm.

"It was his leg that he needed to move, not his arm.

    Rangers defender James Tavernier
Image caption: James Tavernier netted two late penalties for Rangers

"James Tavernier is always scoring it and there was no doubt when he got his other one. We talked about him maybe changing direction but he just smashed it down the middle.

"Then we had the brilliant Morelos finish. It was never a 4-1 but Rangers came into the game today under a bit of pressure to narrow the gap. They hadn't won away from home, now they have.

"It wasn't in great style, but you can see with the performance, they had one eye on these big games coming up [in the Europa League] and they tried to get through this one."

  9. 'Madness from the centre back'

    FT: Hamilton Accies 1-4 Rangers

    Willie Miller

Former Scotland defender on BBC Sportsound

"4-1? Come on! That was never a game that looked as thought it had five goals in it. The three goals scored from outfield play were brilliant.

"The penalties were expertly taken but no way could you have predicted that Rangers would tuck away four at the end of the day.

    Hamilton Accies defender Alex Penny

"Hamilton get the equaliser, then all of a sudden madness from the centre back; craziness from him.

"Not dealing with the cross into the box and then getting himself all tangled with Morelos on the edge of the box when Morelos is going nowhere.

"You don't have to get close to Morelos, just usher him out away from goal. If he does that then he doesn't put his team in the position where the game is way beyond them."

  10. 'All about getting points'

    FT: Hamilton Accies 1-4 Rangesr

    Scott McDonald

Former Celtic striker on BBC Sportsound

Quote Message: Rangers will take confidence from that albeit the performance wasn't there. For Steven Gerrard, it was all about getting points. It'll be flat in the Hamilton dressing room after that because the scoreline doesn't reflect the performance. They put in a lot of effort and frustrated Rangers.

  17. GOAL Hamilton Accies 1-3 Rangers

    James Tavernier

  19. GOAL Hamilton Accies 1-2 Rangers
