  1. Good night

    FT: Bolton 0-2 West Brom

Victory and upbeat thoughts for West Bromwich Albion are juxtaposed by defeat and a sense of major disenchantment with the way things are going on and off the pitch at Bolton Wanderers.

Football is a passionate game. We live it, we feel it, we enjoy it and perhaps more often endure it.

Whether you're a Baggies fan dreaming of a return to the Premier League, or a Bolton fan just hoping you have a club to support in the none-too-distant future, you're what makes the game special. Clubs need you, to roar them on to victory, to keep them going in their darkest days.

    Keep singing, keep feeling it.

Anyways, thanks for joining us tonight. We'll be back with more EFL action on Saturday. The full gamut of games.

    Until then, good night.

  2. Stay positive

So, you've almost made it through Blue Monday and, even if you are a Bolton fan mourning the result and decline at your beloved club, the FA want you to stay positive...

    View more on twitter

Over the next 21 days, over 3,000 youth grassroots coaches up and down the country will receive positive hints, tips and challenges as part of their #WeOnlyDoPositive campaign.

And there'll be more videos each day from players across all the England teams (development, adult, male/female & disability) thanking their positive role models.

  3. What can the fans hope for?

    FT: Bolton 0-2 West Brom

Bolton owner Ken Anderson has said he wants to sell the club, so in some respects he and the fans are singing from the same hymn sheet...

However, the right people, with the right money and the right intentions are hard to come by. Otherwise, we'd all be happy wouldn't we?

Dissatisfaction from supporters towards ownership is not a new issue, just ask Blackpool, Charlton and Newcastle fans.

It doesn't make it any easier to deal with though.

  4. Baggies boing up the league

    FT: Bolton 0-2 West Brom

It on the basis of these kind of wins that Gary Megson took West Brom up during his tenure in the early 2000s, grinding out results with a resolute defence and the odd goal.

While noone would say Darren Moore lacks the personnel to do more than that, showing such character to get a result in these circumstances has to be a plus point.

Jay Rodriguez nodded one in to take his tally to 14 for the season, and young Sam Field netted a second to secure the points.

They're now three points behind Norwich with a superior goal difference. They're the top scorers with 57 goals in 28 games.

  5. Wanderers worries

    FT: Bolton 0-2 West Brom

Bolton can be proud of their endeavour, and it will be hard for Phil Parkinson to truly dig out his players after a display in which they gave West Brom all manner of uncomfortable moments.

However, a lack of goals is going to be a major concern. They remain the lowest scorers in the EFL. They have failed to score for the 14th league game this season.

Parkinson has some time left in the window to do his business, but how much he has to spend, and how attractive a prospect Bolton are, remains to be seen.

He's doing his best in tough circumstances.

  6. Reaction

    FT: Bolton 0-2 West Brom

West Brom striker Jay Rodriguez told Sky Sports:

"Every three points is important for us.

"There's a good competition with Dwight Gayle. We're a great combination."

West Brom striker Dwight Gayle told Sky Sports:

"It was a tough place to come and we had to get the first goal.

"It was an important one to get the clean sheet as well."

    Bolton 0-2 West Brom

    Bolton v West Brom

West Brom continue their march toward promotion a hard-earned yet key 2-0 away win at plucky Bolton.

It's a tough night for the Trotters and their fans, whose protested against the owner Ken Anderson throughout.

  8. CLOSE!

    Bolton 0-2 West Brom

    SO close to a consolation.

Gary O'Neil wraps his foot around a corner and zings it into a perfect area. It's met by Josh Magennis but Sam Johnstone is right behind it for West Brom.

Rekeem Harper trudges off, after an age-defying display, he's replaced by Tosin Adarabioyo.

    Bolton 0-2 West Brom

The free-kick, as in keeping with any big build up, went miles wide.

    Three minutes added on.

  10. Post update

    Bolton 0-2 West Brom

I like the retro feel of this West Brom kit. You almost feel like Tony Brown, Cyrille Regis or Laurie Cunningham could be showing their skills off.

Dwight Gayle free-kick from distance... hit the bar last time.

  11. Post update

    Bolton 0-2 West Brom

More tennis balls are launched onto the pitch by home fans.

Once play resumes, Bolton sub Will Buckley gets a half-chance in the box, ball sits up for the half-volley but it swirls just wide of the right upright.

    Late flurry for the Trotters?

  12. Post update

    Bolton 0-2 West Brom

Goodness knows whether Bakary Sako was looking for a cross-field pass or whether he had the spotlights in mind but that 'effort' was dreadful.

Here come West Brom again... Mason Holgate's cross is cut-out easily and Bolton break.

    Bolton 0-2 West Brom

Bolton get a corner after Josh Magennis tiptoed his way down the left. The ball is cleared by Hal Robson-Kanu but the bandaged Baggies forward runs it out of play.

It's his last contribution, as he is replaced by Bakary Sako.

    Hal Robson-Kanu

    Bolton 0-2 West Brom

Where Bolton were getting a foot in before, now the ball is falling kindly for the visitors.

Craig Dawson's wild volley across goal ends up being picked up at the back-post and recycled. When it rains it pours for Bolton.

On comes Joe Pritchard meanwhile, for the hard-working Craig Noone.

  15. Post update

    Bolton 0-2 West Brom

Bolton get Sammy Ameobi in behind, but his cut-back to Pawel Olkowski fails to produce a viable cross.

The home supporters look fairly cheesed off right now, as you might imagine.

Frustration sounds like it's turning to fury for a few.

West Brom can now just roll the ball about with calm and poise, buoyed by a two-goal lead.

Mason Holgate's shot deflects for a corner. Baggies on top.

  16. GOAL: Bolton 0-2 West Brom

    Sam Field

All that hard work from Bolton comes to nothing as West Brom double their lead and seemingly put this out of sight.

The Baggies could find no way through a packed, well-set Bolton defence but a slide rule pass into the box is cutely dummied by Dwight Gayle, leaving the Trotters defence flat-footed...

Sam Field hadn't switched off, he races onto it and prods the ball beyond Ben Alnwick for goal two.

Nice goal for the West Brom fan, who replaced skipper Chris Brunt in the first-half.

    Game over?

  17. Post update

    Bolton 0-1 West Brom

Kieran Gibbs shows just how relieved West Brom are to clear their lines by blindly howking the ball downfield.

Bolton send it straight back up again.

Could be a long 15 minutes to full-time for all concerned.

  18. Post update

    Bolton 0-1 West Brom

Bolton loop a throw into the box and Josh Magennis gets a head to it, but it's an easy claim for Sam Johnstone.

West Brom come forward, but the cross is a simple take for goalkeeper Ben Alnwick.

  19. Post update

    Bolton 0-1 West Brom

Maybe it's the rain, maybe it's the tension. Either way, this game has deteriorated like the weather. It's been scrappy and lacking in real class.

Neither side are doing much of note, lots of lost ball in midfield.

Bolton trying to work the angles, pull the Baggies about; West Brom still seemingly in cruise control.

    Darren Moore

    Bolton 0-1 West Brom

Bolton bring on Josh Magennis and Will Buckley for Clayton Donaldson and Luke Murphy.

Roll of the dice by Phil Parkinson.
