  2. 'We will get better'

    Canada 1-0 Cameroon

Canada's match-winner Kadeisha Buchanan: "We wanted to score early and release the pressure off our backs.

"We got the nerves out in this game. For sure we are going to come back stronger for the next game and keep the momentum going. We will be better."

  3. A battling win

    Canada 1-0 Cameroon

Canada head coach Kenneth Heiner-Moller: "You cannot say anything about the heart we put in tonight, we knew it was going to be a battle and we stepped up against a hard team to play. We deserved the win and it was a great performance because of the battle.

"You can sense nervousness but that is because it matters to these guys. It is 10 games without defeat, a clean sheet and three points at the start of the tournament.

"Kadeisha Buchanan put in an excellent defensive performance and that was a powerful header for the goal."

Not happening for Christine Sinclair tonight.

Manchester City's Janine Beckie still looking for that goal.

  10. Post update

    Canada 1-0 Cameroon

Canada sub Deanne Rose has looked really lively since coming on, you could say she has been a thorn in the Cameroon defence.

She almost picks out Christine Sinclair's run with a slide-rule pass, but it has just a little too much on it.

Christine Sinclair has barely had a sniff today but this was the chance to close in even further on Abby Wambach's international record.

Great play from sub Deanne Rose, skinning her defender and putting a cross into the box, but the towering Sinclair cannot direct the ball on target with her diving header.

Sub Gaelle Enganamouit, green kit and green hair, has only been on the pitch for a few minutes but it booked for a flailing arm into the face of Janine Beckie.

  18. CLOSE!

    Canada 1-0 Cameroon

This was almost an exact carbon copy of Canada's goal at the same end.

The corner is floated in to the back post, Claudine Meffometou meets it on the gallop, heads it down the same as Kadeisha Buchanan but this effort is the wrong side of the post.

Should have buried it from six yards out.
