    People have their reasons for disliking the Checkatrade Trophy but there's no denying that was quite some final.

    Two massive clubs going toe-to-toe, and a penalty shootout at the end of it.

    Congratulations to Portsmouth, commiserations to Sunderland fans - both now turn their attention to the League One promotion race.

    Now for all the usual party tracks, blasting out at Wembley.

    Almost all the Sunderland fans have understandably left - had they kept up their first-half performance there's no doubt they would've been lifting the trophy.

    But you have to feel for Lee Cattermole, he played well today - but someone has to miss.

    Portsmouth captain Brett Pitman lifts the Checkatrade Trophy aloft and their fans go mad!

    With a potential promotion to the Championship also to come, perhaps Pompey are on their way back towards the times which saw them win the FA Cup and compete in Europe.

    The Portsmouth players are making their way up the Wembley steps to collect the trophy.

    Their fans chant 'play up Pompey' as loud as they've done all afternoon.

    For Sunderland it's a first defeat in 20 games - their last also coming against Pompey.
