Glen Carrick: As a Chelsea fan, absolutely gutted to see Hazard go.. Sarri should be given a chance next season - a full pre-season for him and some young players drafted into squad.. Might not win the title but should be ahead of Arsenal and United for top 4 anyway #bbcfootball

  10. 'Sarri won it in style'

    Chelsea 4-1 Arsenal

    Alan Pardew

Former Newcastle and West Ham manager on BBC Radio 5 Live

For managers like myself, what a great story it is that Maurizio Sarri has had to work this long to finally win a trophy. And he won it in style. He's had some real down times this season. He's managed to battle through that and you have to do that in the Premier League.

  11. Stat attack

Chelsea won their fifth major Uefa European competition final, with only Liverpool winning more among English clubs (eight).

Eden Hazard scored more goals for Chelsea in 2018-19 than he had in any of his seven seasons at Stamford Bridge (21 goals). The Belgian also provided 17 assists in all competitions this season, only in 2012-13 (19) had he registered more. Eden Hazard

  14. Luciano Spalletti sacked as Inter Milan manager

Luciano Spalletti has been sacked as Inter Milan boss, with the Italian club expected to replace him with former Chelsea manager Antonio Conte.

Spalletti, who had a contract until 2021, led Inter into the Champions League for the first time in six years in the first of his two seasons.

This year his side finished fourth in Serie A and were knocked out of the Champions League at the group stage.

Conte has been out of the game since being dismissed by Chelsea last July.

"Inter Milan can confirm that Luciano Spalletti is no longer head coach of the first team," the club said in a statement.

  15. Arsenal miss out on Champions League after losing to Chelsea

    Chelsea 4-1 Arsenal

Arsenal will not be in next season's Champions League after losing the Europa League final to Chelsea in Baku.

The Gunners will play in next season's Europa League group stages, with Chelsea in the Champions League.

The Europa League winners get an automatic Champions League group spot, but Chelsea had already qualified by finishing third in the Premier League.

French side Lyon qualify for the Champions League as a result of Chelsea's 4-1 win.

That is because the third-placed team in Ligue 1 - Uefa's fifth highest-ranked league - go straight into the group stages rather than the qualifiers if the Europa League winners qualify for the Champions League through their own league.

It means a third consecutive season without Champions League football for Arsenal, who finished fifth in the Premier League. It is their longest spell out of Europe's top tournament since the 1990s.

Arsenal's transfer budget this summer could be as low as £40m,BBC Sport understands. It could have been up to £100m if they had been in the Champions League.

Takmann: Perfect send off for Hazard, he gave everything for Chelsea. Sarri has to stay, curious of what a second season for him at the helm will bring. It's been quite a good bad first season, though successful

Jeff: It's the right time for hazard to leave but not sari

Shaun Armsden: If hazard cared about Chelsea he’d be waiting another season so the can try and replace him.
