  2. 'I'm totally in love with this team'

    Liverpool 4-1 Norwich

    Norwich City

    Daniel Farke

Norwich boss Daniel Farke speaking to Match of the Day: "We're disappointed. We were greedy, we wanted to be the first team in two-and-a-half years to win here.

"But I'm totally in love with this team. The mentality to win the second half in front of an excited home crowd, we showed great character.

"No-one wanted to hear it at half-time but I told them we had the same possession and had created more chances. Liverpool had scored four though.

"It was tough to take but I felt we were not too far away from a good result."

  3. 'There is space for improvement'

    Liverpool 4-1 Norwich

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp, speaking to Sky Sports: "Norwich showed up and stayed cheeky and lively after 60 minutes - it was impressive.

"We have to learn some things not completely new but again. Everything is good but we had to control the game more.

"We had to work a lot and that is how it is. They were good but we deserved the three points.

"There is a lot of space for improvement we know that but a lot of things were there tonight. The next game is a different game and we have to defend well.

"The main problem today was the reaction on the second balls. All respect to Norwich if they can keep playing like that they will have a good future. I am happy with the physical things I saw because for 60 minutes we were spot on."

  4. 'Alisson it is not good'

    Liverpool 4-1 Norwich

Jurgen Klopp added to Match of the Day: "With Alisson it is not good but we will find a solution and move on.

"He felt his calf. He looked behind him because he thought something hit him.

"But Adrian is a good goalie. In possession he is calm and he is good at shot-stopping, that's why we signed him. It's good for him but we have a little problem with Ali."

  5. 'For 60 mins we played super football'

    Liverpool 4-1 Norwich

    Jurgen Klopp

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp told Match of the Day: "For 60 minutes we looked very sharp, then we have to control the game a bit more. Norwich have all my respect. they stayed cheeky, they enjoyed their football.

"At the start of the second half we could have scored a fifth or sixth goal, then Norwich scored. After that we were never in danger but had to work hard to keep the score what it was.

"The players had a break (over the summer). For the body it was long enough, nobody asked for longer, so they didn't lose a lot of their physical standards. We have to be a bit smart for the next two games, we have to make a few decisions and try to win both of those games, which will be difficult.

"But tonight is positive. For 60 minutes we played super football and the last half an hour is normal in the early stages (of the season)."

  6. 'We showed great character'

    Liverpool 4-1 Norwich

    Norwich City

Norwich boss Daniel Farke, speaking to Sky Sports: "In general we are disappointed we lost the game. We wanted to start with some points but of course unbelievably happy with the character of my team. We showed great character.

"We created more chances and had more shots on the goal in the second half. My feeling was in the first half we were not that bad. I love this team and I love my players.

"We have to stick to our beliefs. Of course we have to defend a bit more solid but my injured players are coming back and this was a lesson for some of my players because small details can make a big difference."

  7. 'A very positive start'

    Liverpool 4-1 Norwich

    Divock Origi

Liverpool forward Divock Origi told Match of the Day: "We showed respect to Norwich but scoring four in the first half was a huge boost and it was important to build from the last game against City.

"It was good to be back at Anfield. There was a good spark around the stadium and during the game, and it showed in the performance. I was glad I could help the team with a goal.

"Norwich have a very good team, a lot of talented players. They are very brave, they try to play football. In the end we finished it off well and winning 4-1 for the first game is very positive."

  8. 'Proud of our reaction'

    Liverpool 4-1 Norwich

    Norwich City

    Tim Krul

Norwich goalkeeper Tim Krul: "When you come to Anfield you want them to have an off day but they were on it from the start. Massive learning curve. We were a bit naive in the first half but that will happen with a young team. I'm proud of the way they reacted.

"I feel we walk off the pitch thinking if we believe in what we are doing we will get some results this season."

  9. 'We didn't underestimate them'

    Joe Gomez

Liverpool defender Joe Gomez on Sky Sports: "We didn't underestimate them at all. We knew they'd come here to play football, the manager warned us about that, and they got behind us a few times.

"It was frustrating to concede the goal but we have to learn from it and progress.

"Nothing's been said (about who's first choice). Every week we have to play for our place, none of us are guaranteed a place in the starting XI."

  10. Post update

    Trent Alexander-Arnold

Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold on Sky Sports: "We did something special last season but none of that matters now. We've got to focus on this season and hopefully we can go one better in the league.

"I want a better output, to create as many chances as I can for the team. As full-backs, we get forward as much as we can, as well as defend. And we want to keep more clean sheets. We kept a lot last season but we can get better."

  11. 'A pretty good second half'

    Liverpool 4-1 Norwich

    Norwich City

    Teemu Pukki

Teemu Pukki: "It was a pretty good second half from us. We decided at half time it was maybe too much to get some points so we just wanted to go and try and score.

"We were alright in the first half but Liverpool are a tough team they will punish you straight away."

  12. Post update

    Liverpool 4-1 Norwich

    Stephen Warnock

Ex-Liverpool defender on Radio 5 Live

I'm looking forward to watching Norwich play. I think they're going to be entertaining. They're going to lose a lot of goals but I think they're going to score a lot as well and be involved in some classic games.

Brian Sands: Norwich have reached double figures for efforts on Goal. Too many. What has happened to LFC defensively?

Adam Kitchiner:Shots on target.. not a big difference. Against a different class of opposition Liverpool would lose.

Wayne Andrews: Last season, Liverpool's GD was five worse than Man City's (ignoring the points difference of one). They may regret not winning by more after dominating tonight.

David Penn: Might sound crazy when a team is 4-1 down but I like the attitude and intention of this Norwich side. I think they'll do enough to survive this season.

Sam Pougher: Obviously not the start of the season Norwich were hoping for but they have played well against a big team and fair play to them.

T-Dogg: As a Norwich fan it's great just to be back in the Premier League. Tonight's result not a big deal for us. Can see us getting enough points during the season to stay up.

A minimum of two minutes of added time are shown on the fourth official's board as Ben Godfrey stings Adrian's hands with a powerful drive.

Five shots on target for Norwich to Liverpool's seven. They've given it a go to be fair to Norwich.

  18. Post update

    Liverpool 4-1 Norwich

Liverpool seem content with their goal haul now. They are not in any hurry to pressure Norwich when they are in possession. It is job done as far as they are concerned.

Roberto Firmino has been superb. He looks back to his best. He looks fit and he looks hungry. I think everything that's good about Liverpool comes from him. When the ball goes up to him it sticks, he sees things and Liverpool can make runs off him. That's where their game plan comes from.
