  1. Post update

    HT: Norwich City 1-0 Newcastle

Fairly even on chances here at Norwich, the home team having seven shots and Newcastle having five.

Possession stats though heavily in Norwich's favour, their midfield control in the first half shown by a figure of 69%.

Steve Bruce will hope his side can get hold of the ball in the second 45.

  2. Unhappy travels

    HT: Norwich City 1-0 Newcastle

To be fair, Newcastle don't travel well in August.

In fact, they've only won top of their last 28 away games in August and not even scored outside of St James' Park since 2011.

Maybe that's why Joelinton missed that chance.

  3. HALF-TIME

    HT: Norwich City 1-0 Newcastle

The Premier League newboys lead at the break.

    Teemu Pukki
  4. YELLOW CARD

    Norwich City 1-0 Newcastle

Joelinton tries to spring the offside trap and latch onto Miguel Almiron's through ball.

He's aided by a Grant Hanley slip and looks set to charge towards goal only for Teemu Pukki of all people to race back to rob him.

Joelinton duly takes his frustrations out on Max Aarons' instep and picks up a yellow card for his troubles.

  5. Post update

    Norwich City 1-0 Newcastle

From the free kick, Jonjo Shelvey finds Fabian Schar at the back post.

He meets it powerfully but Tim Krul is there to palm it into the air and catch at the second attempt.

  6. YELLOW CARD

    Norwich City 1-0 Newcastle

Max Aarons picks up the game's first booking, pulling back Matt Ritchie as he threatened to make inroads into the Norwich defence.

  7. Post update

    Norwich City 1-0 Newcastle

That's Pukki's 31st goal for Norwich and his fourth from his last seven shots on target.

  8. GOAL - Teemu Pukki

    Norwich City 1-0 Newcastle

Teemu Pukki fires in the opening goal

Teemu Pukki likes life in the Premier League!

Newcastle fail to clear a corner and when Jamaal Lasceslles can only head Emi Buendia's cross into the sky, Pukki watches it drop before lashing home a stunning volley into the Newcastle net.

Two in two for the prolific Finn.

  9. Post update

    Norwich City 0-0 Newcastle

    Better from Newcastle.

Isaac Hayden is starting to exploit the space in behind Jamaal Lewis and Miguel Almiron picks him out. His cross is dealt with by Ben Godfrey and put behind for a corner.

  10. CLOSE!

    Norwich City 0-0 Newcastle

    What a chance for Joelinton.

Isaac Hayden picks him out beautifully at the back post, Newcastle's big number nine rises powerfully to meet a free header but sends it wide.

He really should have done better.

    Joelinton
  11. Post update

    Norwich City 0-0 Newcastle

Todd Cantwell has been bright and busy so far and he drives forward from midfield once again. He finds Teemu Pukki in a touch of space but the striker's shot is comfortable for Martin Dubravka.

  12. Post update

    Norwich City 0-0 Newcastle

Steve Bruce has lined Newcastle up with three centre backs and in theory licence for Emil Krafth and Matt Ritchie to get forward.

But they're being pinned back by Norwich's lively pair of full backs Max Aarons and Jamal Lewis with the three black-and-white midfielders struggling to get hold of it in the middle.

The formation's not working at the minute.

  13. Post update

    Norwich City 0-0 Newcastle

Isaac Hayden swings in a hopeful cross. There's nobody anywhere near it for Newcastle but it almost catches Tim Krul out.

The Dutchman gratefully recovers to hold the ball the right side of the line and keep it out.

  14. Post update

    Norwich City 0-0 Newcastle

Matt Ritchie gets a shot on target for the visitors.

It's a dribbler from 25 yards and is easily dealt with by Tim Krul but perhaps shows them trying to play further up the field.

  15. GREAT SAVE!

    Norwich City 0-0 Newcastle

Far too easy for Norwich to get in once more and again it's Martin Dubravka to the rescue.

Teemu Pukki slides round Fabian Schar and suddenly he's in on goal. Dubravka spreads himself to block but the Magpies really need to get a grip back there.

  16. Post update

    Norwich City 0-0 Newcastle

Miguel Almiron goes down clutching his head. Tom Trybull goes in for a shoulder challenge with him but catches the Paraguayan playmaker on the forehead.

VAR take a look at it but nothing doing.

    We play on.

    Miguel Almiron
  17. CLOSE!

    Norwich City 0-0 Newcastle

    Newcastle's turn to go close.

Matt Ritchie whips in a delicious cross from the left that beats everyone to pick out debutant Emil Krafth at the back post.

The Newcastle right back shows all the composure of someone who has only ever scored five career goals and blazes over from eight yards.

  18. CLOSE!

    Norwich City 0-0 Newcastle

Another bright move from Norwich down the right hand side.

Emiliano Buendia cuts it back for Teemu Pukki who has time and space in the Newcastle area to pick his spot. The Finnish forward flashes a shot but it goes wide of the target.

  19. GREAT SAVE!

    Norwich City 0-0 Newcastle

Teemu Pukki's driving run splits the Newcastle defence. He dodges a challenge and stays on his feet when he could go down before cutting back to Todd Cantwell.

The Norwich man spins his marker but his low shot is brilliantly saved by Martin Dubravka's legs.

    Should have scored.

    Teemu Pukki on a run
  20. Post update

    Norwich City 0-0 Newcastle

    It's a beautiful sun-kissed afternoon in Norwich.

The promoted side are straight onto the attack, forcing the game's first corner.

It comes to nothing but it's a positive start.
