Portugal topped Group A on goal difference after victories over Italy and Armenia and a 1-1 draw against Spain. The current holders showed their attacking prowess by scoring eight goals in three group games.
Republic of Ireland finished second in Group B behind France after picking up four points from their three games. Their first victory of the tournament came in their final group fixture against Czech Republic.
Ireland will be without Jonathan Afolabi, who scored the opener against Czech Republic, and Lee O’Connor for the semi-final as both players picked up two bookings in the group stage.
