    Kawasaki Frontale 1-0 Chelsea

New signing Christian Pulisic made his Chelsea debut in a friendly defeat to Japanese champions Kawasaki Frontale in Yokohama.

A late header from Leandro Damiao gave the hosts a 1-0 victory as Chelsea struggled in humid conditions.

Pulisic, who replaced Mason Mount in the second half, failed to make an impression before Damiao nodded in from close range in the 88th minute.

Chelsea have won just one of their three pre-season friendlies.

It’s been a busy old day at the National Stadium in Singapore. Tottenham’s training session started at just after 10am local time, followed by a press conference with manager Mauricio Pochettino and striker Harry Kane that lasted a full half hour.

It was very interesting, especially when Pochettino said he might have quit had Spurs won the Champions League last season.

  7. 'Pressure is not a problem - I will show what I'm capable of'

Matthijs de Ligt officially unveiled by Juventus

On how Italian football is different: "In Holland there is a lot of building from the back and defending high up the pitch. Italy is more about zonal marking and defending together, I think that Juve can help me and I can help them.

"I'm 19, I can still improve and I want to do that. It's important to work hard every day and to learn and I hope to become a better player.

"Pressure is normal in football and for me it's not a problem. I will show what I'm capable of on the pitch.

"There are four competitions and we want to win them all. This is the mentality of Juventus."

Matthijs de Ligt officially unveiled by Juventus

More now from De Ligt: "I'm still young but I feel like I've got a lot of experience for a 19-year-old, that's why I made this move to gain more experience and to learn from the players here.

"It's a big step, my first outside of my home country. I was really honoured with how the Juventus fans welcomed me and I hope that I can give a lot back.

"When I played here with Ajax I was really impressed with the atmosphere of the Allianz."

  9. 'Juventus is a great forwards step for me'

Matthijs de Ligt officially unveiled by Juventus

De Ligt on deciding to move to Juventus: "After the Nations League final I was already sure that I wanted to join Juventus, but it was still a big compliment to have Cristiano ask me to join here but it didn't make the difference.

“I have to get used to a new sporting culture here and a new sporting environment and I hope that I can give my best.

"I came here because Italy is one of the most traditional countries for defenders. Juventus is a great forwards step for me."

  11. De Ligt says he joined Juve because of manager Maurizio Sarri

Matthijs de Ligt officially unveiled by Juventus

Defender Matthijs de Ligt says manager Maurizio Sarri is one of the main reasons he joined Juventus.

The 19-year-old centre-back had been linked with a number of Europe's top clubs but completed a £67.5m move to the Italian champions on Thursday.

Former Chelsea boss Sarri was unpopular with some supporters at Stamford Bridge and left the club earlier this summer after less than a year in charge.

"He was one of the reasons that I wanted to join here," said De Ligt.

"I spoke to Sarri on the phone before coming just to get to know each other.

"I've heard a lot of good things about him and I like his footballing philosophy and how he prepares his defence."

  12. 'Devastating and frustrating to miss so much of last season'

Newcastle v West Ham (Sat, 10:00 BST)

Wilshere on last season: "I don't think I have to say how frustrating it was. I joined a new team and I thought I started well and was playing well, so to miss so much of the season was devastating.

"I missed being around the team and being part of it and getting to know everyone, so I wanted to get back before the end of last season.

"It's nice being back around the team and away with them here in China. I have enjoyed it, I'm feeling good and now I just want to push on."

    Jack Wilshere
  13. 'I want to help the team finish as high as we can'

Newcastle v West Ham (Sat, 10:00 BST)

Wilshere is asked whether he is 100 per cent ready for the season and what role would he like to play: "I want to play as many games as possible. Last season I started well and felt good, but then I picked up an injury.

"Injuries can happen at any time, so all I can do is work hard in training and do my best to get into the team.

"Then, if I'm there, I'll do my best to help us win as many games as possible. I want to play as many games as possible and help the team finish as high as we can."

    Jack Wilshere
  14. 'I want to play as many games as I can, both in preseason and this season'

Newcastle v West Ham (Sat, 10:00 BST)

Jack Wilshere on his Asia Trophy experience and how he is enjoying preseason training: "It's tough [in this heat and humidity]. The first time it was hot and you almost forget how tough it is in these conditions, but when you get back to England you realise how much you have benefited by playing in these conditions.

"It's important to have a full preseason. I enjoy preseason and playing games. I know how important it is for my sharpness. You can train as much as you like, but there is no substitute for playing games and I want to play as many games as I can, both in preseason and this season."

    Jack Wilshere

  16. 'Haller was the player we needed in this team - he will be very important'

Newcastle v West Ham (Sat, 10:00 BST)

On Sebastien Haller: "It was important to sign him because we are without three strikers that we had last season, so we needed a new striker. We looked at a lot of options and finally we decided Sebastien Haller was the player we needed in this team.

"He scored goals but he is also an option player who can do other things and come deep and with our technical midfielders, he will be a very important player for our team."

    Sebastien Haller
  17. 'In a couple of years China will be an important place for football'

Newcastle v West Ham (Sat, 10:00 BST)

Pellegrini on Chinese football: "I worked here for one year and seven months [as manager of Hebei China Fortune between 2016-18] and the league in China is improving. The owners of the clubs and managers are doing things better every season.

"Knowing this season and the way they work, I am absolutely certain that in a couple of years this will be an important place for football."
