By Andrew Aloia and Steve Marshall

All times stated are UK

  1. INJURY TIME

    Bristol City 0-0 Brighton

Into four added minutes at Ashton Gate. Can either side find a late winner?

  2. Post update

    Man City 1-0 Man Utd

    Manchester City

We are into the final three minutes now. The chance has revitalised the visitors.

  3. 'Groenen ran out of legs'

    Man City 1-0 Man Utd

    Pat Nevin

Former Chelsea and Scotland winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

Jackie Groenen basically ran out of legs there, she made a great run and then fell onto the ground.

She then got herself half up again and I don't think she deliberately hit that the second time.

It came off her leg and hits the inside of the post.

  4. HITS THE WOODWORK

    Man City 1-0 Man Utd

    Jackie Groenen hits the post

    Oh so nearly an equaliser!

Jackie Groenen runs at City's defence, she shapes to shoot but loses her footing... but the chance didn't just disappear. As the Dutch international goes tumbling over, the attempted clearance from Aoife Mannion hits the the United player and dribbles goalward and off the post!

    CLOSE is an understatement.

  5. Post update

    Man City 1-0 Man Utd

Georgia Stanway goes looking for Manchester City's second.

She lets rip from inside the box after meeting a pass from Tssa Wullaert on the right. The shot is fierce, but blazes over.

  6. Post update

    Man City 1-0 Man Utd

With less than 10 minutes remaining, Manchester United boss Casey Stoney makes her third change.

Jane Ross gets applauded off as he is replaced by Lauren James.

  7. 'I can't believe the attendance'

    Man City 1-0 Man Utd

    Lindsay Johnson

Ex-England defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

    Record crowd at Etihad

I've got goosebumps hearing that attendance, I can't believe that's happened.

I'm gobsmacked, 31,213 for a domestic game in our country...

I thought it would happen, I hoped it would happen but I didn't think this early on.

    It's a great step forward.

  8. Post update

    Bristol City 0-0 Brighton

Brighton's turn to record an effort on target at we enter the final 10 minutes.

Midfielder Megan Connolly thumps a header at goal from 12 yards but Sophie Baggaley grabs it at the second attempt.

  9. Post update

    Man City 1-0 Man Utd

Manchester United will not relent - they want something from this landmark Manchester derby!

Kirsty Hanson, who just came on to replace Leah Galton, hounds City's defence into the corner and the hosts lose possession. Hanson is there to collect the loose ball, and she goes for a audacious attempt. It, however, is too high.

  10. CLOSE!

    Bristol City 0-0 Brighton

That's as good a chance as Bristol City have had for a while.

Substitutes Ebony Salmon and Olivia Chance combine well on the edge of the box, before Chance hits a rising drive that Megan Walsh tips over.

  11. Post update

    Man City 1-0 Man Utd

    Emma Sanders

    BBC Sport at Etihad Stadium

They have just announced that 31,213 have attended the game at the Etihad. That's a HUGE step up from the previous WSL record of 5,265. Brilliant!

  12. RECORD CROWD

    Man City 1-0 Man Utd

    Record crowd graphic

It was expected to be a record crowd for a league game in England, but this has absolutely smashed the old mark which was little over 5,000!

  13. Post update

    Bristol City 0-0 Brighton

Just over 15 minutes to go at Ashton Gagte as the players take a water break.

There's a decent crowd of 3,041 - just over 250 short of a club record - in the ground for this season opener, with Bristol City men's players Benik Afobe and Kasey Palmer, and their families, among the attendees.

    Ashton Gate
  14. Post update

    Man City 1-0 Man Utd

Twenty minutes remain of this first Manchester derby in the Women's Super League.

City have been in control since half-time, with that screamer of a goal from Caroline Weir the difference.

United, it must be said, have still showed glimpses of menace since the break. It will be a tense finish, for sure.

  15. Post update

    Man City 1-0 Man Utd

    Emma Sanders

    BBC Sport at Etihad Stadium

    Phil Neville

Phil Neville is sat just to my right and he was gesturing for Georgia Stanway to attack the full-back and drive towards the baseline when she had the ball a few minutes ago. She's been a little hesitant to do so.

  16. Post update

    Man City 1-0 Man Utd

Man City with a free kick in a promising position on the right and just outside the box.

Caroline Weir is over the ball, but her effort lacks power and skids into the arms of Mary Earps with 23 minutes remaining.

  17. 'Two different City's'

    Man City 1-0 Man Utd

    Pat Nevin

Former Chelsea and Scotland winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

Manchester City in the first half, and Manchester City in the second half, are they the same team?

Totally different, everything is urgent, moving Caroline Weir into what is basically the number 10 position, she's playing where she wants to now.

  18. Post update

    Man City 1-0 Man Utd

    End-to-end stuff now.

City goalkeeper Ellie Roebuck needs to be alert at her near post to push away an effort from Leah Galton before Janine Beckie breaks up field on the counter attack from the resulting corner to fire over.

  19. Post update

    Man City 1-0 Man Utd

A lot being asked of Manchester United's defence, but Abbie McManus shows supreme cool under pressure in the box to cut off the latest City attack.

  20. Post update

    Bristol City 0-0 Brighton

Bristol City keeper Sophie Baggaley is earning her money today.

After her first-half penalty save, she's continued to be the busier of the two keepers, with Ellie Brazil the latest to force her into action, albeit a routine stop.
