  2. Meet the teams...

    Halesowen Town v Altrincham (kick-off: 12:30)

After an away draw at Bedworth United in the preliminary round, Halesowen Town, or the Yeltz as they’re known locally, have beaten Bedworth, Lichfield City and Stratford Town at the Grove, scoring 15 goals and conceding just four.

Renowned FA Cup giant-killers Altrincham secured passage to the FA Cup third qualifying round with a 1-0 second qualifying round replay victory over Chester, following a 1-1 draw in the initial tie.

The Robins bring with them a proud record, having faced the likes of Wolves, Burnley, and Liverpool and famously beating Sheffield United, Birmingham City, Blackpool, Wigan Athletic and Barnsley all as a non-league club.

There are forty ties take place over this weekend, with the winners one victory away from the first round proper in this season’s FA Cup.

  4. From grassroots to glory

    BBC Sport

Jamie Vardy's remarkable rise from non-league football to Premier League winner with Leicester City has ensured that grassroots football will remain a buzzword for years to come.

Many of the players taking part in the second qualifying round of the FA Cup this weekend will be dreaming of following in Vardy's footsteps.
