  1. Have a happy New Year

    FT: Derby 2-1 Charlton

    Jason Knight

That's it for tonight, except for me to say thanks for your company this evening and thanks for following the BBC Sport website and app's live football coverage during 2019. We'll see you again in the 20s.

Have a happy New Year. I imagine Derby's match-winner Jason Knight certainly will.

'Wayne Rooney's Derby County' is a new name for a club you might hear in January. Until next time, cheers.

  2. How it stands at the bottom

    FT: Derby 2-1 Charlton

Here's confirmation of how the bottom of the Championship now looks, with Charlton seven points above the drop zone.

  3. Reaction as 10-man Derby earn victory

    FT: Derby 2-1 Charlton

    Duane Holmes

Derby's Duane Holmes tells Sky Sports: "It's always tough when you go down to 10 men so early in the game and unfortunately Krystian [Bielik] has gone off for one he probably shouldn't have done, but the boys dug in and got the job done."

On Wayne Rooney's anticipated debut next time out, Holmes adds...

"It's going to be massive for us. We've seen him in training for a month or so and he's still really special."

  4. Derby move nine points clear of danger

    FT: Derby 2-1 Charlton

Derby have climbed up to 17th with this win, nine points clear of danger and level with 16th-placed Middlesbrough.

Charlton slip to 19th position and remain without an away victory since August.

    Derby 2-1 Charlton

    Jason Knight

It's all over. The 10 men of Derby have ended their seven-match winless run.

With his first two goals in senior English football, 18-year-old Jason Knight is the home side's hero tonight.

  6. Post update

    Derby 2-1 Charlton

With Charlton throwing everyone forward, Derby suddenly counter and Jason Knight could have a hat-trick... But his low shot is saved!

Charlton go straight back up the other end... But the attack breaks down. Surely that's it.

  7. Post update

    Derby 2-1 Charlton

    Still we play on...

    Derby 2-1 Charlton

Martyn Waghorn goes off and Craig Forsyth comes on for the closing moments of this tense game.

  9. Post update

    Derby 2-1 Charlton

There's a pause in play as Derby's Martyn Waghorn gets some treatment on the pitch. Presumably time will be added on to time-added-on for this.

  10. Post update

    Derby 2-1 Charlton

There's some 'head tennis' in the Derby penalty area but Charlton can't get an effort away on goal and eventually Derby keeper Ben Hamer jumps on the ball.

  11. SUBSTITUTION (Derby)

    Derby 2-1 Charlton

Derby striker Jack Marriott gets a standing ovation as he goes off and he's replaced by 18-year-old Morgan Whittaker.

Meanwhile, there'll be at least five added minutes...

    Derby 2-1 Charlton

Ben Hamer pulls off a super double save, first getting down low to stop Ben Dempsey's powerful strike and then getting up quickly to bravely block from Lyle Taylor on the rebound.

We're all in for a tense finish here...

  13. Post update

    Derby 2-1 Charlton

There are Derby hearts in mouths as keeper Ben Hamer fumbles a high free-kick that was launched in to the box from deep.. But the hosts hook the ball clear. For now...

  14. Post update

    Derby 2-1 Charlton

To remind you, Derby have been down to 10 men since Krystian Bielik's 17th-minute dismissal and the Rams haven't won since November.

  15. GOAL: Derby 2-1 Charlton

    Lyle Taylor, pen

Substitute Lyle Taylor makes no mistake from the spot. He halves the deficit.

Is there enough time for Charlton to come back from here?

    Derby 2-0 Charlton

Curtis Davies fouls - yes, you guessed it - Conor Gallagher in the area and it's a penalty!

No doubt about it. It's a pen.

    Derby 2-0 Charlton

Chris Solly isn't quick enough for Jason Knight's jinking feet and the Charlton man gets booked for a foul on the teenager over the by touchline.

There are 10 minutes to go.

  18. Post update

    Derby 2-0 Charlton

We've only got 10 men, the home crowd sing.

  19. GOAL: Derby 2-0 Charlton

    Jason Knight

The 10 men double their lead and it's Jason Knight again! From the second phase after a corner, Max Bird's cross picks out a totally unmarked Knight at the far post, and the 18-year-old doubles his tally of professional goals.

  20. Post update

    Derby 1-0 Charlton

    Lee Bowyer

If Charlton are going to make their extra man count, they're running out of time to do so.

However, they did score twice in the final 13 minutes last time out, to come from behind to beat Bristol City 3-2 on Boxing Day, so don't write them off just yet...
