  1. Good night all

And that's that from the King Power, where the first leg ends 1-1.

We'll be back on Friday night for more Premier League football as Sheffield United host West Ham.

    See you there!

  2. Post update

I'm sure they will. The month is yet young.

  3. 'Villa have got to sort out the striking situation'

    FT: Leicester 1-1 Aston Villa

    Micah Richards

Former Aston Villa defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

Villa have got to sort out the striking situation, and I think they will do, but I know they've had a few problems with financial fair play, so whether they get their first target or not could be vitally important.

I don't worry too much for Villa because they've got talented players in there who can get them through.

Drinkwater has a lot to give. I've been a player who people have written off and I've tried to come back and show people what I can give - yeah he's had some off-field problems, but he has a desire and hunger.

  4. Post update

    Leicester 1-1 Aston Villa

Frederic Guilbert’s goal in the 28th minute was Aston Villa’s only shot on target in the match. In fact, they only recorded three shots in the entire game – the lowest total they’ve registered in all competitions since May 2016 against Newcastle United (2 shots).

  5. 'Hamza gave us our identity back'

    Leicester City

    Hamza Choudhury

Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers on Sky Sports: "We dominated the game but we were passive in the first half, played too slow. It was all a bit slow. We didn't press the game enough. The goal we conceded we have to be stronger.

"But we stayed calm and speeded up the game, made more runs off the ball. Second half we were very good, they made some great blocks to stop us winning the game. Credit to them, they made it very difficult.

"It's set up perfectly. We look forward to the second leg. Hamza Choudhury made a huge difference, it's my fault that I didn't start him tonight. We could see that we needed him and he gave us our identity back.

"Wilfred Ndidi is so good for us, he's colossal, and we were too slow and not aggressive without him or Hamza."

  6. Post update

    Leicester 1-1 Aston Villa

Wilfred Ndidi's injury is a knee injury, I can tell you. He's having 'minor' surgery tomorrow.

  7. 'It wasn't the performace I wanted'

    Leicester 1-1 Aston Villa

    Aston Villa

Aston Villa manager Dean Smith on Sky Sports: "It should be a good second leg, all square and a boisterous crowd, a full house.

"It wasn't the performance I wanted, Leicester were the better team but we defended well at times. We have to be honest, they created chances as well. We were loose on the ball tonight, we've got to do better.

"I'm certainly content with a draw, just not the performance. We gave away a farcical goal. Ezri Konsa has got brain dazzled. A disappointing goal but it sums up some of our performance on the night. We did get in a lot of tackles and blocks."

  8. Post update

    I'm in.

  9. 'Why not give Choudhury a game for England?'

    FT: Leicester 1-1 Aston Villa

    Clinton Morrison

Former Crystal Palace striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

Gareth Southgate was here watching today - maybe put Hamza Choudhury into the England squad, because holding midfield is the biggest problem for England at the moment but what Choudhury gives you - he can sniff out danger, he destroys it and can make a tackle but he's also really good on the ball. Why not give him a game?

  10. 'Villa ready for the challenge'

    FT: Leicester 1-1 Aston Villa

    Micah Richards

Former Aston Villa defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

If you watch Villa, they play well for 80 minutes, then make a mistake and their heads drop a bit. I was in a Villa side that were fighting relegation, and the same happened to us - but I think this Villa side are more resilient.

They've got a player in Jack Grealish who takes games by the scruff of the neck, and I believe they can still stay up. They look like they're more than ready for the challenge.

  11. 'Most goals are preventable'

    Leicester 1-1 Aston Villa

    Aston Villa

    Tyrone Mings

Villa defender Tyrone Mings: "We are disappointed not to walk away with a clean sheet in the end but they are a very good team. It was a good team performance, we'll take it.

"Most goals are preventable. They scored four against us at Villa Park so this was important for our confidence. We laid good foundations and were good defensively.

"It was a good day at the office. We had no striker which was tough but we did a good job."

  12. 'We fought well'

    Leicester 1-1 Aston Villa

    Aston Villa

    Nyland

Villa goalkeeper Orjan Nyland on Sky Sports: "We fought well, it's two legs so we take this back to Villa Park and hopefully can get to the final. I was quite busy but we get away with one goal.

"I have to take the chance I have now, I know how it's like to be injured. I'm gutted for Tom Heaton but that's how it is."

  13. 'Leicester weren't fluent like they were at the start of the season'

    FT: Leicester 1-1 Aston Villa

    Clinton Morrison

Former Crystal Palace striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

The reason Villa haven't come away with a victory is that they've tried to play in the wrong areas at the wrong time and Leicester were ruthless. I think more teams will set up that way - I watched the Norwich game here, and they frustrated Leicester massively.

Leicester dominated possession but you didn't see them being fluent like they were at the start of the season.

  16. 'Villa will take great confidence from this'

    FT: Leicester 1-1 Aston Villa

    Micah Richards

Former Aston Villa defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

I thought Villa played a good game today, I expected Leicester to win comfortably but Tyrone Mings and Kourtney Hause were outstanding.

On the evidence of tonight, they still need to sort out their striking situation as soon as possible, but they'll take great confidence from this performance - they looked like a real team, you wouldn't think they were fighting relegation.

  17. 'A really good game'

    FT: Leicester 1-1 Aston Villa

    Clinton Morrison

Former Crystal Palace striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

It was a really good game. Villa had a really good gameplan, they set up well to defend. Leicester were huffing and puffing, then Brendan Rodgers brought Choudhury on and he changed the game, he allowed Tielemans and Maddison to get further forward and create something.

Leicester will be disappointed and Villa will be really happy. You have to give huge credit, the back three were superb.

  18. Post update

    Leicester 1-1 Aston Villa

An awful lot of chat between the two sets of players at full time, all seemed very friendly and professional.

The second leg is on Tuesday 28 January. Set your watch.

  20. FULL-TIME

    Leicester 1-1 Aston Villa

This is probably not the night to make that call Steve.

All over! Villa came for a draw and got one, very good defensive display. Leicester found it tough going but come out level in the end.
