'Not a perfect night'

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to BT Sport: "It was not a perfect night. We got three yellow cards and three suspensions. 2-0 is very good result. We know how difficult it is to come to Spain. We've got to play well to get a result.

"They [Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes] have been exceptional, so important for us. It was a very good run by Rashford, takes the ball fantastically. Bruno is so confident on penalties even though the keeper almost saved it.

"Same as always [attitude for next week]. We want to win every game. It’s still a young team, a learning team. We have to improve all the time. Football catches you so quickly if you rest. We can’t have any other approach."

'Final result leaves difficult taste'

More from Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta: "It's difficult because they were a good opponent. They have beaten some big teams and are really difficult to play against. They have a lot of man-to-man situations and you have to resolve them. When we did that, we created chances, but when you can't, it's not easy.

"We were effective in our high press - they had the capacity to run in transition if they won the ball back but we controlled that well. It's more about the final result that leaves a difficult taste."

On the next leg: "We need to win the game. The mindset is to win the game, we need to score, we've done it before and we need to do it again."

'We knew it would be a tough game physically'

United winger Dan James to BT Sport: "It's a massive win for us. We knew it'd be tough coming here. Getting a clean sheet was important. There's still a second leg we've got to concentrate on but we have to recover and get ready for Sunday [at Tottenham].

"We knew it would be a tough game physically and we had to match that. We fought to the end and got that penalty.

"Keep smiling, keep playing. I'm really happy. We have to go into next week with the same attitude. Sunday is a massive game for us. We've got to get back, recover, get ready for that."

'Changes the feeling'

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta speaking to BT Sport: "The game was under control. We got the goal we wanted but we missed some big chances as well. We played two or three balls we shouldn't do and we put ourselves on the back foot and conceded the corner. They put bodies in there and it can happen. It changes the feeling after the game.

"We know that we had the possibility to change things with five substitutes. We thought it was the right time for the set-up we had. It was the right moment and they had a big impact. We know the subs have a lot to say in this competition. Unfortunately we didn't capitalise on it."

"We feel good at home," Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says on looking ahead to the second leg.

He's confident.

"The final result leaves a difficult taste," Mikel Arteta says on conceding the late equaliser.

He adds he doesn't believe it was too late to bring on the substitutions.

The best of the stats

Arsenal remain unbeaten in their nine European meetings with Czech opponents (W7 D2) – however, this was the first time they’ve failed to win a home game against a side from the Czech Republic.

Having lost their first three away games against English sides without scoring a single goal, Slavia Prague have lost just one of their last four such games in European competition (W1 D2), finding the net each time.

Arsenal haven’t kept a clean sheet in any of their last 14 games in all competitions, their longest such run since December 2019.

oSlavia Prague’s Tomas Holes scored his first ever goal in major European competition, in what was his 14th such appearance.
