    Portadown 0-1 Linfield

It wasn't easy and it wasn't pretty, but it certainly was important.

An early Jordan Stewart goal gives Linfield a vital 1-0 victory at Shamrock Park that extends their lead at the top over Coleraine to 10 points.

Portadown made the Blues work hard for the victory and came close a few times themselves but David Healy's men did enough to see the game out.

    Portadown 0-1 Linfield

Kirk Millar can whip a ball in at the best of times but the wind adds some extra spice to his delivery from the right. Ross Larkin throws himself at the ball and Jacob Carney gets down well to his left to keep the defender's header out.

Nine minutes to go, can Portadown find a way back into this one?

  3. Portadown standing strong

    Portadown 0-1 Linfield

Portadown have played well so far in the second half and are making sure Linfield work hard if they are going to hold on to their lead.

Lee Bonis has just stung the palms of Chris Johns with a long-range effort and it it is not the first time they have threatened since the break.

Twenty minutes to go and the leaders still have a job on their hands to see this out.

    Portadown 0-1 Linfield

Linfield have the lead at half-time thanks to Jordan Stewart's early goal.

Andy Waterworth thought he'd added a second but it was disallowed.

Portadown have been in the game throughout and have threatened an equaliser on a few occasions.

It's nicely poised at a windy Shamrock Park.

    Portadown 0-1 Linfield

    Tight call there.

Andy Waterworth has the ball in the net with a close-range header but it was ruled out.

Looks like the assistant referee thought the ball had gone out of play just before Michael Newberry dug out the cross.

Let's just say it was a tight call and leave it at that.

    Portadown 0-1 Linfield

They might be behind but Portadown are well in this game.

Adam McCallum has just struck the top of the crossbar with a looping header that had Chris Johns beaten.

    Portadown 0-1 Linfield

Jordan Stewart doesn't normally score scrappy goals. This was one.

  8. What a goal that would have been

    Portadown 0-1 Linfield

We all love a chip, right?

Jordan Stewart certainly does and he came desperately close to scoring a screamer just now.

From 20 yards out he clipped a lovely shot but it just didn't come down quickly enough and went over.

He doesn't lack confidence, that's for sure.

    Portadown 0-1 Linfield

That looked a certain goal from Andy Waterworth.

Super break from Linfield and good work down the right from Navid Nasseri.

He slightly under hits his cross but it still falls nicely for Waterworth, but Ports keeper Jacob Carney makes a fantastic save.

  10. GOAL

    Portadown 0-1 Linfield

Jordan Stewart gives Linfield an early lead.

It was a scrappy one but he won't care.

After a bit of pinball in the six-yard box from a Kirk Millar corner, the ball dropped to Stewart and he lashed home from close range.

  11. Waterworth goes close

    Portadown 0-0 Linfield

It was just a deft flick from Andy Waterworth but it needed a Nathan Kerr header off the line to keep it out.

It hasn't been all Linfield in the opening stages, though, with Adam Salley going close for the hosts.

  12. Here we go

    Portadown 0-0 Linfield

    We've kicked off.

No need for the floodlights - you love to see it.

  14. The matches keep on coming

    Portadown v Linfield

Linfield will no doubt see this as a great chance to extend their lead at the top of the table.

News of second-placed Coleraine's defeat against Cliftonville will have reached David Healy's squad ahead of kick-off.

Portadown will have a lot to say about that, though, as they welcome the Irish Premiership title holders to Shamrock Park.
