Richard Stephenson: Williams car looks quick... shame they've got a journeyman and a rookie pedalling it.

  9. Post update

Two minutes to go and Felipe Massa heads on out, possibly to try and clinch the most laps in a day crown. Sebastian Vettel has just surpassed his tally by completing lap number 164.

Jospehat Okora:@MercedesAMGF1 may be struggling but no one can see that. I am impressed by @WilliamsRacing . Contender.

  11. Post update

Felipe Massa pulls into the pits after completing lap number 163. An absolutely monumental effort and plenty of valuable data collected with that sort of mileage. I wonder how much Williams will be benefit from having his experience again this season?

A touch under 10 minutes to go, with Daniel Ricciardo, Sebastian Vettel and Stoffel Vandoorne among the handful of drivers pushing it until the final minute.

  12. Post update

A marginal gain for Valtteri Bottas as he does a 1:20.924. He stays fifth, but moves to within half a second of Lewis Hamilton in P4.

Looks like Felipe Massa is going to finish top of the pile today. Fastest time and plenty of laps, an excellent day for the Williams driver.

Imagine if he won the title this year. Out of retirement to become world champion. Like something from a Rocky film.

  13. Post update

Esteban Ocon has also been hard at it today. He's onto 123 laps and counting in the Force India. Impressive!

Ocon, one of the tallest current drivers, has had to pile on pounds in recent months to help cope with the physical demands the 2017 cars put up on the driver.  He basically had to eat as much as he could. I can think of worse problems.

  14. Stoff pushing hard

  15. Post update

Lap number 150 for Felipe Massa. He's done more than the equivalent of two Spanish GPs in a day and will have some wobbly legs tonight.

  16. Post update

As is often the case, I stick a times update and someone goes and puts in a lap to significantly alter it.

That someone just now is Nico Hulkenberg. He leaps up to P7 with a 1:21.589 on softs. That means McLaren have been the 10th quickest team today, with just Sauber below them.

As you said please, Geoff, I've chucked them in now.

Check the testing times update at 16:10 GMT, should pop in soon.
