An avid and capable sportsman from a young age, Allan was medically discharged from his regiment in the Scots Guards with hip dysplasia.
Staying physically active has helped him through the resulting disappointment and if his performances in the Warrior Games, where he clocked 58.1 seconds for the 400m, are anything to go by then he will be one of the stars of Sheffield.
Allan trains at Thames Valley Harriers – the club that produced Linford Christie and Lorraine Ugen, among other talented GB stars.
He said: “Adaptive sports for wounded individuals like myself and many others have given us a platform to challenge ourselves physically and mentally.
“Competing, for me, is putting together all the build-up of the hard work endured in training.”
