  1. Poulter proves his class

    Iain Carter

    BBC golf correspondent at Sawgrass

Whatever the result Poulter has proved correct the revised stats that reinstated him on the PGA Tour. If he finishes second outright he would climb from 198 in the world to around 75th in the rankings.

    Ian Poulter
  2. Sit!

    Poulter -8 (17)

    "Sit, sit, sit..."

The further he's got into this Players Championship, the more Ian Poulter has taken to talking to his ball. Or shouting at it.

His tee shot at the 18th skips on off the fairway and heads towards the rough, but it settles nicely for the Englishman.

  3. Kim finds the green

    Kim -10 (16)

    Kim Si-woo

The world, or at least everyone at Sawgrass, has their eyes glued on Kim Si-woo at the 17th tee.

This could make or break the young man's Players Championship.

He sends one high into the Florida evening sky, where's it dropping? It's deep, rolling towards the back of the green... and stops before the water.

A wry smile from the Korean, the first of the day?

  4. High praise from Sir Nick

He's feeling it - are you?

N.B. By 'tweeps' he means Twitter 'peeps', i.e. Twitter people. I bet you're glad I cleared that up.

  5. Par for Poulter at 17

    Poulter -8 (17)

It's a long walk from the 16th green to the 17th tee around the lake. I imagine Kim Si-woo can't help but look at the island - it probably seems like a postage stamp to the youngster right now.

Ian Poulter is already there and needs to sink a two-foot putt to hold par. He does, and heads off the 18th.

  6. Leaderboard

    -10 Kim (after 16 holes)

    -8 Poulter (17)

    -7 Oosthuizen (16)

    -6 Cabrera Bello (18)

    -5 Steele (18), Glover (18), Scott (18), Molinari (18), Stanley (15)

  7. Kim has birdie chance

    Kim -10 (16)

    Kim Si-woo

Kim Si-woo has a birdie chance at 16 and with it the opportunity to almost certainly put this championship to bed.

He's 12 feet left of the pin. The 21-year-old guides it hole-wards. Does it have the legs? No, that stops short, but it's a simple tap in for par.

  9. Poulter on the green

    Poulter -8 (16)

That 17th must've given a few of these players nightmares this week.

Ian Poulter takes a look at the island he needs to land his tee shot on, takes a deep breath and pitches it up on to the middle of the green.

He's got some work from there if he wants to make birdie, but having seen so many of his competitors go in the water the dry stuff is a welcome break.

  10. Cabrera Bello back home

    Cabrera Bello -6 (F)

Someone must've woken Rafa Cabrera Bello up after the 15th, he came to life with three to play and followed an albatross with a birdie.

Can he follow it up at the 18th? No shots gained, but a fantastic long-range putt from off the green to make par for the Spaniard and he heads in as the clubhouse leader on six under.

  11. Not dropping for Poulter

    Poulter -8 (16)

Ian Poulter steps cautiously up to his ball on the green. He's got a downward slope to contend with.

It's running, running... it's left of the hole. Poulter looks frustrated, there'll be no birdie here.

Andrew Piestley: After all that Ian Poulter has endured over the past few weeks he has the perfect chance to prove of his merit of a PGA Tour card.

  13. Kim goes right

    Kim -10 (15) Poulter -8 (15)

Here comes Kim Si-woo to the tee. He's opted to tee up almost as far right as he can, and the drive then goes right - that's settled in the rough.

Ian Poulter was over there a moment ago, he recovered well enough with a lay up on to the fairway and then follows by finding the green.

The Englishman is deep in conversation as he struts up the fairway to his ball, can he pull a shot back on the 16th?

  14. Bowled over...

Cricketer Kevin Pietersen is very pleased with what he is seeing at the Player's Championship...

  15. Poulter in the rough

    Poulter -8 (15)

Ian Poulter finds himself in a spot of rough stuff at 16, just right of the fairway.

There's woodland, water hazards and bunkers to avoid from the tee, so that's not to unfavourable for the Englishman.

Kim Si-woo, meanwhile, faces a bit of a wait on the 16th tee - will it be this moment of down time when the enormity of what he might be about to achieve dawns on him?

  16. Birdie for Cabrera Bello

    Cabrera Bello -6 (17)

Well, Rafa Cabrera Bello followed up that albatross with this birdie at the 17th...

That moves him to six under and tied third with a hole to play.

  17. Who is Kim Si-woo?

    • Enjoys horseback riding
    • Favorite pro team is Manchester United
    • Favorite TV show is "Infinite Challenge."
    • Favorite athlete is Christiano Ronaldo
    • Favorite vacation spot is Hawaii
    • Dream foursome would be Tiger Woods, K.J. Choi and Adam Scott
    • First-tee introduction song would be "Gangnam Style."
  18. Kim maintains two-shot lead

    Kim -10 (15)

Kim Si-woo must be the calmest man at Sawgrass. The evening Florida sun is beating down but the 21-year-old remains ice cold under pressure.

He skittles a chip on to the 15th green and it rests two feet from the pin. Straight down the throat of the cup with the putter, that's another par.

There's a nod of appreciation to the hoard of fans who are now following his progress. Now on to the next one.

  19. High fives for everyone

    Cabrera Bello -5 (16)

    Rafa Cabrera Bello

It was some celebration from Rafa Cabrera Bello after that two at the par-five 16th.

The Spaniard tossed his club up in the air and then ran off to high five the row of spectators lining the perimeter of the fairway.
