  1. Goodbye from us

Thanks for joining us for our coverage of UFC 229.

The event certainly lived up to the hype, but not in the way any of us could probably have imagined.

You can read the round-up here.

    Until next time...

  2. What happened tonight?

    Where do we start?

Here's a brief overview of tonight's extraordinary events in Las Vegas:

    • Khabib Nurmagomedov largely dominated proceedings before administering a rear-naked choke, prompting Conor McGregor to tap out with one minute and 57 seconds of round four remaining
    • The champion instantly shouted at the beaten man and then pointed at McGregor's team before exiting the ring and attacking Dillon Danis, a fighter who trains with McGregor
    • While the brawl took place, McGregor was punched in the ring by one of Nurmagomedov's training partners
    • Nurmagomedov left the arena with fans throwing objects towards him, while UFC president Dana White said he felt "sick" over the scenes
    • White announced post-fight that three of Nurmagomedov's team had been arrested but later released
  3. Further reaction from White in press conference

UFC president Dana White has given more reaction to tonight's events.

    Reaction to brawl:

"This is a sporting event, if you think you’re going to start a fight once that’s over it becomes a criminal investigation.

"It’s bad for the brand, it’s bad for the sport, it’s bad for both fight camps. I don’t know how anyone can come out looking good from this."

What he said to Khabib inside the octagon:

"You’re going to be lucky if you’re not going to be arrested."

Khabib said to him: "If I’m going to be arrested I want to do it with my belt on."

    On Conor:

"Conor was great in all of this, he didn’t react."

    What happens next:

"I’m so disappointed man. I’m one of the guys who has worked 18 years to get this sport where it is today.

"The thing was trending to be number 1 or 2 of all time on PPV and this is how it ends?"

  4. "Khabib is at full fault"

British cruiserweight Tony Bellew believes Khabib Nurmagomedov is fully at fault for tonight's scenes at UFC 229.

  8. The official scorecard

Away from the post-fight brawl for just a second - this is how the judges scored tonight's bout between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor.

The scorecard shows all three judges had Nurmagomedov winning the first two rounds, with McGregor taking the third, before tapping out to a rear naked choke in the fourth.

  9. UFC president Dana White's reaction

Dana White speaking to Fox in the US:

"Khabib jumped over the cage going after Conor's guy who was talking trash to him and all hell broke loose. I don't know what to say right now, I'm just sick over it."

On speaking to Conor McGregor post-fight:

"I've just talked with him (Conor) he's upset about the fight, not about the fight after the fight."

    Nurmagomedov's men arrested:

"Three of Khabib's guys have been arrested and are on the way to jail now.

"I know if we put the belt on him (Khabib) in the octagon they'll be things thrown. I just said let's just try and get him out of here.

"Both men made it clear that the rivalry would not be over after the fight, but I definitely didn't see Khabib jumping over the fence after the fight.

"Daniel Cormier and Luke Rockhold were great in diffusing things."

    What happens next?

"What happens here is three guys have been arrested, there's going to be charges against them for sure. Those three guys, are they even going to get a VISA to come back here? There's a lot of things that they haven't realised yet."

  10. Three of Nurmagomedov's team arrested

Speaking on BT Sport, UFC president Dana White has just said three of Khabib Nurmagomedov's team have been arrested and taken to jail.

    Full quotes coming shortly...

  11. Get Involved - #bbcufc

Anon: Is this fight going to enhance UFC/MMA's image? Could public polarization be further apart? yes... Will the fighters and promoter, advertisers and broadcasters be concerned with the extra publicity, exposure and certain increased revenue? of course not

Nihar Ranjan Palai: @TeamKhabib Won the fight, but what he did is not good. He ruined his own crowning moment. @TheNotoriousMMA was attacked by a associate which is not at all acceptable.

James Collins: I find it strange that so much is being made of the khabib situation when Conor basically got away (in the UFC) with bringing a team and attacking a bus full of fighters and cornermen. Not that it makes his actions better obviously

  12. Nurmagomedov escorted from arena

Khabib Nurmagomedov was escorted from the arena by police following the brawl.

Where do tonight's actions leave Khabib Nurmagomedov? Where does it leave Conor McGregor? And where does it leave the UFC?

    Khabib Nurmagomedov
  13. 'McGregor would have been humble'

    Dan Hardy

Former UFC fighter on BBC Radio 5 live

"I do feel McGregor would have been humble if he had chance for a post-match interview. There wasn't an opportunity there as Khabib was still looking for a fight. I do think McGregor would have been humble in defeat."

  14. Will Nurmagomedov be stripped of the title?

    Nick Peet

    BBC MMA Show Presenter

After seeing that I'll be so surprised if Khabib isn't suspended and stripped of the belt, he caused a riot.

It's one thing attacking a bus in a closed environment, but to do it in front of 20,000 fans in Vegas in an environment that is being broadcast to the world. It's incredible.

  15. Get Involved - #bbcufc

Anon: Nurmagomedov and his team totally lost the plot. Disgraceful and no way how to conduct himself as a champion.

Ryan Bracken: I can’t quite understand the thinking of Khabib and his corner there. He won. It’s his crowning moment. And he threw it away like toddler.

John Wilkinson: For his antics after the fight, Khabib would have to be banned however because of McGregors antics with the attack on the coach in Brooklyn, that will probably save him. Terrible end

  16. This is not over

    Dan Hardy

Former UFC fighter on BBC Radio 5 live

"The narrative expands. Unfortunately we are part of this now, and we need some closure to this story. The drama is not over, it was a one-sided fight. I feel that because it was a one-sided fight, Khabib didn't have chance to get the respect of McGregor. Because Khabib has mauled McGregor for four rounds, he didn't get the closure he needed from the fight. As soon as he got back up there was fight left in him and that's why he went for one of McGregor's men."

  17. Ugly post-fight scenes

    Khabib Nurmagomedov beats Conor McGregor

If you're just joining us, Khabib Nurmagomedov retained his lightweight title by beating Conor McGregor with a rear naked choke in round 4. That however, is only half the story.

Following the bout, pandemonium broke out. Nurmagomedov jumped straight out of the cage and went to attack what appeared to be one of Conor McGregor's team-mates.

Whilst this was going on, chaos broke out inside the octagon where someone from the Russian's camp threw a punch at Conor McGregor.

Security intervened, Conor McGregor was escorted from the arena and UFC president Dana White told Nurmagomedov he would not be handing him his lightweight title.
